tight challenging course
Hadn't played Reston in a couple years and it was in better shape than I remember. Conditions were superb although greens putted slower than they looked. Had forgot how tight the course is but like the layout and the challenge of the holes.
Starter was very gracious and helpful. Pro shop staff were friendly and professional.
Great outing all around. Will be back sooner than 2 years.
Great Coure - Fun layout
Really fun long layout but full rate is not cheap on the weekends. I have played before and gotten an excellent rate on apps but this was not one of those times. But the course was in excellent condition.
Chsllenging
I've played this course several times, but this was my first from the tips. It's a different course from back there. It's much more challenging. I also feel that they do a great job of keeping the course up. I will definitely play it again!!
Great course, bring bug spray!
Great course for the money. Greens are good, but could improve on some holes. The tee boxes and fairways are great. The one issue I had was the myriad of gnats. You need to bring some bug spray, otherwise you'll be swatting gnats the whole time you're there.
Loved Reston National!
My first time playing this course! Most of the holes were great visually! I enjoyed this layout, especially since the conditions were great! It's long but forgiving. I am going to definitely play again. We got a HOT DEAL off GOLFNOW, so the price was just ok, can be pricey otherwise.
Narrow
The course was a good narrow course. My tee-time was at 0700, and at that time every green was full of Nats. It was hard to concentrate on the putt
Decent
Reston National is a perfectly mediocre golf course. The layout isn't all that memorable and there isn't a hole or view that makes you stop and catch your breath. However, the greens were in excellent condition and generally the course was in great shape - credit to the crew and staff for their work. The starter was quite nice and the staff were nice as well. Lastly, the course is very fair - what you see is what you get.
Great lay-Out - Greens Aerated
It Was take two and Go. I know Golf Courses have to do it, but it really Ruined the Round shot 77 Could not make anything. a two foot Putt was challenging. pace of play was horrible I remembered why I hadn't played Reston in a long time. waited 15 minutes on every hole on the back side. No one was in front of us on the front so we finished the front in an hour and 10 minutes. The Workers on the lawn equipment were terrible, No golf Manners at all. Nice Lay-Out but I don't think I'll be back soon. Too many better options for the Money.
Early bird gets the worm
Early is always better. 60 is a bit high during the week but Better than 80..!! It's the closest course to me and I love playing it but it's known to be slow. Hopefully this review will keep some of you away and that'll speed it up!
81 is my best here and I'm a 12 handicap.
I holed out on 18 once. Nobody saw it, but a couple guys teeing off on 10 saw me pull it from the cup and cheered!
It was from 108 out and it was my 4th shot so it was a par...
I'll be back
Teach the Starter to Have Common Sense!
Golf course itself was enjoyable - very nice tree lined course with a variety of holes. Greens rolled well although some were recently punched (small tines). Problem however started before teeing off. A twosome came into proshop without a tee time and was given a time before my 7:08 time. When I went out to Starter I was told to pair up with another single - fine so far. He was also instructing a group of women on how to operate golf boards and they obviously were having some difficulty. This 4some had the tee time before me so I asked if we - 2some - could tee off before the 4some of women. Oh no, the tee sheet had them going before us. So for the entire front 9 we followed the 4some. A few times we were on the same tee waiting for the 4some to tee off and they were oblivious to us. Thankfully they did let us play thru on the back 9. A frustrating round of golf could have been avoided by a starter with a little common sense.
Excellent Course
I enjoy playing the more traditional courses and this one is in excellent condition. Nice variety of hole designs and elevations. Really no water carries. Trees and houses border most of the holes. Look forward to playing it again when I am in that area.
Terrible Golfing Experience
Not a good golf experience at all. We had to wait until 8:05 to tee off for what should have been our 7:43 tee time. During the 6th hole a ranger approached us and told us we needed to pick up the pace as the course needed to be cleared by all groups by 1:00 due to a shotgun tournament. I told him we started over 20 minutes later than our tee time. He again approached our group on the next hole and the one after despite the fact that we were on track for a 4:20 round. Then, another ranger approached us on the 8th hole telling us that groups behind us were calling despite the fact that there was literally no one behind our group that ever had to wait! In addition, turned out they gave me a right handed putter in my left handed rental set (since I flew in from Colorado) as well as no 6 iron. At the turn, when we went into the clubhouse I asked for water at the bar (on this muggy 95 degree day) and was told by the woman working there that she wasn't allowed to give me water and that I needed to go to the water station outside near the first tee which was in the opposite direction to the 10th tee where we were headed. The course itself was acceptable but nothing special. Greens were super slow and quite a few dead patches of grass. We had no one behind us the entire back nine and finished in 4:20 at 12:25. Will never play here again.
No need for Cart Path only
I have wanted to play this course for a while now, but will not go back unless it is $30. The staff were not that friendly. The course was cart path only for no good reason. When we asked at the turn, they said that it was because of the greens keeper. We he didn't do a good job either because the greens were very slow. Also, people on the course who do not belong and they do nothing about it accept tell you that you are responsible for your ball. There are plenty of courses, play somewhere else.
Very good price performer
Good layout, conditions good. Greens in good shape. All in all we were pleasantly surprised.
Enjoyed it
Good crew running the course, could club hosue and snack bar, good cart girl and nice course.
Reston National
Git off a bit early. Great weather, slowed down a bit on the back because a twosome in front of us was slow.
Typical Public Course
Greens and fairways had recently been aerated which made putting a nightmare. Fairways had plugs everywhere. We had to constantly move our balls out of holes and behind plugs. When we scheduled we were not told about the aeration and when we checked in again no comment about it.
Course is a little 'tired' and could use some updating, Bunkers were rocky and muddy. Rough was spotty. For $38 it was about what you would expect in NoVa.
