Condition has gone downhill
I like Reston National, it's a fun course with good thought-provoking holes. It's a good design when you think of how little land they had to work with. That being said, the condition when I was out last was not what I had expected from it. I know they're under new ownership but honestly it's just not good conditioning for what they had done in the past. The bunkers could use some work as well. Also they really jam a lot of people on the course, so pace of play can be rough at times, but not terrible. Hopefully the new ownership gets the condition back to what it was, because this is a good course otherwise.
Squeeze times
I will never play Reston National ever again. This is a shame because I like the course. They have what they call, squeeze times. They squeeze members in between tee times. This causes 6 hour rounds. Pure misery. I hate to leave negative feedback, but they need to fix that.
Challenging yet fair
Nice layout. Demands accurate and lengthy drives to set up your birdie and par opportunities. Greens held well your approach shots. Fairways were patchy in spots, but most fairway shots found good lies. Players don’t fix/seed their divots nor are ball marks fixed with much regularity. Staff was friendly and cooperative.
Typical middle tier public course. Pretty nice course but could use some maintenance thought, especially the sand traps. They were basically just dirt. The pace of play was incredibly slow and we ended up spending about 25% of the time waiting in the tee box. However, that’s not necessarily the courses fault, was most likely just some poor golfers ahead of us.
Save Reston National
Great greens Reston is special course, in a nice setting
with a good layout. Traps need extensive work & lack
base & sand. Trees need to be groomed & thinned out!
Fairways need to be seeded & weeded & could be
quite nice!
Let’s hope that it is not sold for development
It would be a big loss to the N Va. golf community!
Great Course
After 5+ days of rain and playing a soggy CPO course the day before, Reston National was 90 degrees and in outstanding shape. Challenging layout from black tees, but fair. Staff is outstanding. Definitely will go back when I travel through DC.
Good course that needs to be preserved from development
Good condition considering heavy traffic, especially
the greens. Traps need improvement, with only a few
with adequate sand!! Tees need work....fairways
should have divots tended.
All in all, best pay for play in N Va!!
Greens
Would have been nice to know the greens were recently aired may have went somewhere else this trip , love the course and enjoy playing it on my visits to the area. Understand no food because of restaurant damage from past storm still enjoy playing this course.
Slow
Virginia/vaNice course. Greens recently aerated. Pace of play horrible on Saturday afternoon. Four hours to do 13 holes and had to quit.
Disappointing
The course was not in great shape and there were no amenities whatsoever as the clubhouse was closed for renovation. While it is early in the season and I didn't expect great conditions, the course was in very rough condition. Much worse condition than other courses i have played.
Great layout
Course in great shape considering all the rain we had over previous week
Leaves
When your loosing balls what would be plain sight is very frustrating. I like the course that’s why I continue to play there. The leaves and pace of play were so much in play that it jus made this round disappointing. I still like this course, but would never play again in these conditions. The pace of play was due to people being sent off too close together.
Still playable
A lot of fallen leaves, but still beatiful and enjoyable to play!
Very nice but overpriced
I loved the course. It was very challenging but fair. The overall conditions for this time of year was well above average. The greens were quick and rolled true. They're huge so enough club on approaches. With all that being said, this course should not be $70 at 12:45. IMO it shouldn't even be $70 at 7am.
