Reston National Golf Course

I specifically made a tee time for 1:24 with every intent to finish before dark. Of course when checking in with starter (who is also the Director of Golf) told us the starting time was 10-15 minutes behind I said "sure it is it's Reston". Well we started 20 minutes late and it was dark by hole 17. 5 hours and 15 minutes later on a Monday no less. Only thing good I can say is the course was in pretty good condition. They should also give you range balls if you are playing there as well.

Disappointed with staff ability to manage tee times.
Had reservation for 10:36, did not tee off til 11:05 then had a round of over 5 hours. Waiting for almost every shot for the first seven holes, played two holes and almost got a rythym started then had to wait at 10 again.

This course has no concept of what a reservation is, apparently they have a full reservation sheet yet still jam groups in.

The starter said the where already 25 minutes behind when I arrived at 9:30 to check in. Asked why since there was no frost, fog or rain delay.

Would rather spend time on the weekend playing other courses where you can tee off at your reserved time and play at a decent pace and be done in a little over 4 hours.

As much as I like the layout, not worth the time it takes.

Seems like this is standard weekend antics at this course.

Unless you want to spend the majority of your day standing around waiting, I would not recommend this course.

First time playing at Reston National. Staff was friendly and helpful. Front nine relatively open; back nine narrower and more challenging. Fairways in great shape; greens in good shape too. Will play this course again.

Course is very crowded and has slow play. Lots of traffic, so greens have a lot of ball marks. You pay a lot for location. However, good layout, not too difficult, and playable for many skill levels

I grew up playing this course day in and day out from my high school golf days where I played the Front 9 four or five days per week on a weekly basis. Needless to say, the course is practically in my DNA at this point. Not much has changed in the past 10-15 years. Some trees have been trimmed. Some new shrubs planted. But still enjoyable.

One of the things I've come to appreciate more over time is the design of the course. At first glance it's pretty simplistic and then you gradually realize each hole is pretty unique with some themes for the whole course. You can really score well when your ball is in the fairway and there's no real reason to be super aggressive. Just take what the course gives you. The greens are strategically bunkered and the greens undulate near those bunkers. None are multi-tiered but have some spots that are tough to read.

On this day the course was in surprisingly good condition for the time of year. Normally, by this time in NoVA the fairways are burnt in many areas and the greens are a little crusty. Not today. Today everything was very green and rolling true. I hope they continue maintaining the course at this level. The steep price will then be more worth it.

Second time playing this course. Was really disappointed in the greens. I guess the patrons who play this course often are against fixing divots. It as if they haven't been treated in weeks. And for the price, the greens should be in much better conditions.

Very convenient for those in Tysons, and other parts of Northern VA. Generally in good shape but greens were pretty banged up when I played on 8/2/2013. Fun little track, not super difficult. Will wait for mid fall to return, hopefully course will be in better shape.

Slow players can ruin your game, divots not repaired

I play this course because I live very close. I would not drive more than 20-30 minutes to play here because of the pace of play and the cost. Getting the pace of play fixed would go a long way to improving the rating. The course is in very good condition though.

Played with two buddies yesterday- we play many course in VA and MD. The course is a nice layout and the staff if friendly. Unfortunately, the course is in bad condition. Some greens are pristine, but many others are a mess and in need of serious repair. It also seems like nobody (golfers or maintenance crew) fill divots or repair ball marks. For the golfnow price of $67, this course is way over-priced and there are far better courses in the area. We played a better course the week prior for a golfnow price of $16

everthing was great except starter let people play alone so we had to pass them or little rushed. they had to make 3 or 4some.

This is a really fun course with nice terrain and pretty well maintained. It's nesseled in the center of Reston and the houses along the course add a charm to the course. The holes are somewhat challanging but are forgiving of errors. The course had a fair ammount of up and down hill tee shots that add enjoyable variety. I could play this course every day!

Reston National has a very well kept course! We had a great day and received a great discount through Golf Now for taking the 1100 tee time.

My only complaint is that the course maintainers were actually watering greens in the middle of the round. This made play a bit weird and seems to go against the grain of watering grass mid-day.

Played is course probably a dozen times, its a good track with a lot of variety. Course is always kept up well and greens can be challenging. Only thing I recommend is to get out early in the morning because I've played this course in 3.5 hrs but also in 5.5hrs in the afternoon because it gets slow when its crowded which it usually is.

The Good: The course was in great shape. Many greens had been recently sanded but I don't fault the course for maintaining the conditions. The traps had recently been refilled and were in much better condition than the time I'd played there two weeks earlier. Overall, given the location and the course conditions, the $50 GN price of was worth it.

The Bad: Played on a pretty early tee time to get done in time for work. Unfortunately, two foursomes in front of our twosome decided it was the US Open and took 5 minutes over every putt. They were so slow that we caught up to the second foursome by the 9th hole even though they teed off almost an hour before us. Nobody was interested in letting anybody play through. The big complaint here is that there was no Ranger keeping tabs on the pace of play. We ended up skipping two holes just to drive past the two foursomes and finish our round in a reasonable amount of time.

Played on father's day weekend and had an enjoyable round. Took 5 hrs. not bad on holiday weekend. Condition were pretty good but at 90 a little steep for RN. More probably due to location than worth.

Played there a few times , and its always backed up. Otherwise it's a nice course, just too crowded.

Nice course, just in an expensive area! Wherever you play around NOVA will be expensive. $89 for Reston is a bit steep! Look for the hot deals. Fun course though

Up until last Friday 14 June 2013 Reston National was my favorite course in the area to play. Unfortunately, last Friday, I had the worst experience ever on a golf course while playing there and therefore will NEVER return. Although we had a 1:08 pm t-time we did not get out until 1:35pm because there was a tournament in the morning and the course was backed up. No real big deal; this happens. What happened next however was a nightmare. The foursome that played in front of us consisted of two older gentlemen and a father and his 12 year old son who kept taking mulligans and could only hit the ball 20 or 30 yards at a time. If there were not talking repeated shots they were looking for their balls in the woods. One time it took them 17 minutes to get half way down a par four. When our threesome asked if we could play through they said no because the people in front of them were playing slow. Not true in that the foursome in front of them were very good golfers. The four elderly women in front of this foursome however were also horrible hitting only 20 or 30 yards at a time. The bottom line it took us almost 4 hours to play nine holes and 7 1/2 hours to play 18 holes. This is totally ridiculous and UNACCEPTABLE. To make matters worse on the front nine we never saw an official and had to ask the refreshment girl to find someone to talk to them. It was not until the beginning of the second nine holes did an official (a woman and then a young man) talk to the foursome in front of us not one but three I REPEAT three separate times throughout the day I did everything in my power to control my anger and went straight to my car afterwards so that I did not confront them. An Absolute horrible day and I will NEVER play there again. .
