Downward ho?
They've turned sand bunker into grass bunkers, pace of play was marginal, staff very friendly, greens in good shape.
Overpriced
The course was too easy for the amount paid. There are much more challenging course in the price range. The greens were not in the best condition and were a little slow in my opinion...especially for an $80 green fee.
This was my first and last time playing this course even though I shot an 88 from the black tees.
Long but fair course
Everything was good overall. The fairways were good. The starter told us before our round that the tee boxes and greens were sanded. The greens were still true and good, the sanding was not very visible. The tee boxes on the par 3s especially, however were full of sand and it was difficult for me to get my address stance stable. Otherwise it was a great layout and good course. Pace of play was great-4 hours! Staff were friendly and helpful.
Great Value for Seniors
The traditional knock on this otherwise excellent track is that pace of play is terrible and the price is high. If you are a senior playing during the week, however, neither of these problems now arise. Seniors get a terrific discount, and the staff is making significant -- and successful -- efforts to speed up play. My last three rounds have all been under 4 1/2 hours, and playing in a a twosome with a single-digit, we finished an afternoon round in 3 3/4 hours with ease! I highly recommend this wooded layout which has a good mix of interesting -- and challenging -- holes.
Nice track
Reston has a professional, friendly staff and a good facility. The driving range and putting/chipping/sand areas are well maintained as is the entire course.
Often pace of play is a concern about the course but today's round progressed smoothly though, as usual, the weekend was crowded. Perhaps the marshall was encouraging speedy play; we had no issues.
The course is long but fairly wide open. Bunkers are much better than most area courses.
First time, quick round!
Getting out at 7:00am was the key to getting in the round in 3 hours. Paired up with another golfer and we had a pleasant, quick round. Would definitely return to play again. Don't like gas golf carts, but walking the course is fairly easy. A very pleasurable round.
Good times at Reston National
Good times at Reston National. Nice staff. Pace is slow so don't plan anything until at least 5.5 hours after your tee time. Course is in great shape.
Pleasantly surprised in course condition.
Greens were extremely hard and shots were not holding well even with short irons and Pro VIs. Yet they rolled really slow with lot of break.
Usually by this time of the year, they course is burned out in spots but they have done a great job. Fairways were in great shape as were bunkers (hit several)
Nice Public course
Joined up with a two some. Let us go off earlier than our tee time! Nice public course. Greens were tricky! Greens were full; good speed; tough reading at times. A little pricey for the course. I would play it again if given the chance to see if anything had changed.
Great course and a great value
I showed up without a tee time and was given a tee time within 20 minutes. I had time to hit a small bucket of balls. VERY nice driving range. Starter was professional and very friendly. I was paired up with 2 of the course "regulars." The course is a terrific layout, the greens in excellent condition.
We played the front nine in 1hr, 45 mins. The back nine is a great challenge. The overall pace was very good for as busy as it was.
I finished my round in just under 4 hours and the course seemed to be very busy.
I plan to come back regularly. I bought a discount golf card while I was there that looks pretty good.
back to the past
I play this course today the second time, after a few years that I stop because of pace of play.
well, today, I quit at 9 holes, I went off at 10:28 and it was 1:00 by the time I finish 9 holes.
Shame the course is nice, but the pace of play it is just terrible, I would give it another shot, but next week.
you got walkers that are not that young at all, the course is long, should not be walked, at all, not only that it has ups and downs so walking is fine if your handicap is at least an 8, it was just bad.
Nice Course
Course was well maintained, open and fun to play. Plays with a lot of slopes and lined with mature tress.
Good course
Have not play this course in over 3 years, was nice pace of play was good.
Greens are good, over all was great, quick tip, if you have a watch gps. Don't trust it, use the gps on the car.
Some greens are hard some are not, but hey is a public course, lol
60.00 plus bucks to play, still a bit stif , other courses within 15 miles are on 40 bucks range.
But if you are visiting Reston town center this is the place.
It can also be a big boys course if you choose to move back the tip tees .
Enjoy!!
Also it has a great practice facility
Course in good shape
This was the first time for our foursome to play Reston National this year. The tees, fairway and greens were in good shape, the start was on time and pace of play was very good for a weekend morning.
Great, straightforward course
Played Reston National on a Monday to avoid weekend crowds and had a Golfnow discount. A really good deal for only $38. Course was fairly empty, but our twosome (I was paired up with a single), got stuck behind two foursomes and the second foursome was consistently a hole and a half to a hole behind the other foursome. The course was well taken care of and allowed you to play golf - focus on hitting fairways and greens. Some courses are extremely well-taken care of, but have extremely difficult holes that force you to play shots you'd only play at that hole - Extreme elevation changes with tight sloping fairways or long carries over water. There was a small amount of water on the course, but you never had to carry water. Sure that adds some challenge to it, but it was nice to be able to focus on hitting drives off the tee and irons from the fairway and not having to worry about looking for balls in the woods or losing them in the water. Lost one ball all round (usually it's 5 or 6) and shot my second best round of my life. The heat and the slow play were the only downsides and the course can't control the first. Would play here again, but probably only during the week. A couple folks said it can get busy on weekends.
Good layout
Looking for new course that I could play on visit to see daughter who also plays. Good course with everything in front of you. Starter paired my daughter and I with local golfer from club who was very helpful in showing both of us where to and not to hit it. Local member played from the tips and I asked if I could join him, and it was a fair test. My daughter has been looking for another course in the area to play and I think she found it. GPS on carts are fairly accurate. Will play again on our next visit.
Early Morning Round
The course wasn't busy, so we barely saw another group of players - never waited and never held up the group behind. Finished the round in less than 4 hours.
Only saw the cart girl once, and the course doesn't have a real bar, so no limes for the coronas, but apart from that, had an excellent time catching up with an old friend.
Relaxin in Reston
A good experience on a nice track. My wife and I enjoyed our round , and Tom the starter was great!
I loven it this course...
My favorite course....loven it
Play anytime good score only this course
Good score.....putting green fast staff is very
Nice........
Seaview Stay & Play Golf Package
Methinks this golfer doth complaint too much: the course has done it's part when a 15-19 handicapper shoots an 88. There is nothing wrong with the course except the price, but such is life in the DC area.
