Slope 129
Rating 71.9

The Tonto Verde Golf Club offers two uniquely testing 18-hole championship golf courses, each featuring marvelous vistas, smack dab in the middle of the Arizona desert, which have earned honors for their design and playability. The golf courses were designed by David Graham and Gary Panks, who kept the features created by nature when they put together the Peaks golf course, which measures 6,744 yards.

The two golf courses at the Tonto Verde Golf Club feature desert-style target-golf designs, but the designers ensured that golfers of all levels would be able to play them.

The Peaks golf course at the Tonto Verde Golf Club is laid out shorter and skinnier from the tees than its sibling, the Ranch golf course; however, it doesn't offer any less of a challenge for golfers of all levels.

Course in great condition

Greens are rolling great for this time of year (October, most courses are being overseeded). Enjoyed the views of the mountains. Fun course, fairways in good condition, good practice areas especially putting area.

Excellent summer value

The course was in great shape and the price was right. We also caught a break on the weather, since it was a rainy morning during the summer in Phoenix and we didn't see much sun until the last few holes of the day. But, this course has been in excellent shape, whenever I've played it.

requires accuracy

excellent views if you are into course beauty. Fairways are tight but fair. The rough is desert and is cleaned up to where you can find your ball if you stray. The second layer of rough is thick grass so play one more club length for your shot. The greens are quick and smooth. Your ball rolls like the pros. The bar is beautiful and reasonable food and drink, plus groovy bartenders.

Solid track with a very playable design.

This course is kept up nicely. The track is not over challenging, but presents a solid test for all levels. My only negative is that this course is pretty much out in the middle of nowhere for the Phoenix area. I would suggest playing the other course too if you are going to make the drive.
