El Conquistador Golf & Tennis - Canada Course
About
The Canada Course plays through forests of mesquite trees, offering a parkland atmosphere amongst a desert landscape. The natural terrain snakes through ravines and arroyos, providing several natural hazards. Considerable mounding, doglegs and elevation changes provide a varied layout, making club selection an important factor in addition to careful strategy. Golfers should be prepared to use every club in their bag. The course’s signature hole is the eighth hole, considered one of the toughest par 3s in Tucson. The hole requires players to drive the ball uphill along a narrow ridge between two Saguaro cacti, and canyons border the greens on both sides.

Golfer Reviews
Nice course
Nice course but a tenured member, nick, manages the early start tee times moving times around and choosing who plays with whom usurping the staff and starters authorities. I and others felt manipulated
Always a great time
Course was in great shape. Rates are a great value right now👍🏼
Rough greens
Course was in pretty good shape given the dry and hot weather we’ve had the last months. The greens were bumpy and not true probably due to being punched recently. Still a great value and good pace of play
Rough Shape
Very surprised the course was in as bad a shape as it was since they just redid the Canada side. Greens were slow and bumpy with many burnt out and bald patches. The fairways also had considerable amount of burnt out spots, some tee boxes didn’t have grass around them. As late as early May the course was looking great when driving by it.
Condition a bit rough
The El Conquistador courses are always on the list for a play here and there when I’m in town. Course condition during the winter was better than the present summer condition. Bermuda has some unevenness right now especially the greens, some of which had dead spots. Maybe grounds crew errors?
Disappointed
Course was in the worst condition I’ve ever seen it. Greens haven’t recovered well from being punched. 90% of the greens are patchy and inconsistent. Still love this course but the greens need some attention.
Disappointed
Love this course. Unfortunately many dry spots on fairways. Greens were extremely bumpy, many bare spots on green as well. Definitely not up to the standard it has been.
Greens awful
Was told the greens were punched 3 weeks before we played and they were but they were awful, bumpy, dry, and overall not playable. The clubhouse was closed due to a “water issue” and only saw the Marshall once all round.
Canada course
The layout of the holes were beautiful. The course conditions were not so good. The greens had recently aerated and have not recovered yet and has not filled in with the bermuda grass. Once this occurs the greens will be receptive to the approach shot. I will be looking forward to playing the course in two to three weeks
Greens decline
Typically play El Con every couple months and find it’s a great value and step up from city course conditions. Playing Cañada yesterday, several greens had bare patches, which is uncommon there. They were also punched so hopefully that helps resolve.
Also, the bar while now heavily signed stopped serving food when we got there just after 2pm.
Course in Transition - Disappointed
Would have been nice to know the course was in transition. Dead fairways, greens were punched and sanded. Green conditions were terrible. Was not notified at time of booking and learned of course conditions after paying.
Greens were recently sanded and completely unplayable
"Greens were punch and sanded last week". How are they playing? "OK". I like the layout but it was no fun once you reach the greens. Last three greens were what you'd expect for recently sanded greens but the first 15 were unplayable.
