We lost a lot of good balls out there today...
Overall the course was in really good shape and very nice. The one issue we had was the rough has been allowed to grow so thick, if your ball went into it, even a foot into it, there was a pretty good chance you weren't finding it. If you wanted to spend most your afternoon looking for it, I'm sure your could, but they do have a Ranger who drives around and tells you how far off the pace of play you are, and to hurry up. So spending more than 2-3 minutes looking for a ball is out of the question. Cut the rough back some and I have no complaints about this course.
Beautiful Course, Veteran Friendly
Appropriately challenging for a high handicapper (+20) but not discouraging. Mostly wide open fairways (easy to find errant shots), with enough water to raise the anxiety level and keep you on your toes. Played the day after heavy rains, so cart path only, bummer!! But made me get my steps in and occasionally played with the wrong club because the cart was on the far side of the fairway. Let's just say I kept the price per stroke to a minimum. Still, best round of the season and will definitely heading back. Penderbrook is a great way to spend a few hours.
A good challenge
My first time playing this course. Fortunately, i was paired up with a friendly three-some of club members. Accurate drives are necessary on many holes and don't go beyond the first cut on many holes or you will will be lucky to find your ball in the foot high tangle of weeds. Fairways were in excellent condition but greens not so much - needed reseeding. And don't find yourself with a downhill put. Would definitely play the course again.
Will be back soon
Got a good deal compared to regular rate so that made it worth it in itself.
There is no driving range, they have a few rubber mats you can hit into a net, probably due to space but it makes the warm up challenging when you begin the round. After the 9th hole you are in the middle of the course. There is a shack you can buy things from but the bathrooms were in-op. And make sure you don't need anything out of the car.
The putting green is alright I guess but everything is quite bare right now including chip shots. The layout is my favorite thing about Penderbrook. Unique holes that require length on some and ball placement on others. The tips are 6200 but you're unlikely gonna come here and just overpower the course. There is a lot of trouble on every hole and it's easy to bogey. With the winds it was easy to double and triple bogey.
Cart path only on the day I played but I got out in a tee shirt in March. Grass was a bit too yellow to really enjoy the beauty when in season. I'll be back.

This is untrue. This is a public course with unreal conditions, Maybe the best in the area, up there with rasberry, laurel hills, and pleasent valley. either you got mad at the staff or the course is too hard for you. - From someone who plays here 1-2 times a week
