About
The Lago Vista Course is Lago Vista resort’s original track, designed by Leon Howard in the late 1960s and renovated by Dave Bennett in 1992. The golf course has four water holes, more than 40 bunkers, and dramatic elevation changes of up to 100 feet. Lago Vista is known for its demanding par 3s, which all go right at 200 yards. No. 10 is fun because it can be reached in two: a 495-yard par 5 with a creek that looms right.
Getting to Lago Vista: From Austin, take Hwy. 183 north to FM 1431, then turn west 11 miles. When you come to Lohmas Ford Rd. turn left and drive 3 miles, then turn right on Boggy Ford R. Veer to the right and follow the signs to the golf course.

Greens Need Work
If you can ignore the shape of the greens, it's not a bad layout for the most part. I will admit hitting into blind areas without course knowledge was somewhat frustrating. The pro shop and dining area are nice. The range is small, but fine. The green fees are relatively low, but I probably won't be back unless they fix the greens.

A challenging course
From the first tee to the last green you are being challenged to execute playmaking shots of various types. The fairways are short at the moment but should improve in the near future. Greens are fast, and need springtime growth to fill out.

Moor maintainance
Green is so so bad condition.

Rough shape
I have played this course several times over the years and have never seen it in this bad of shape. The fairways were patchy at best with multiple varieties of grass growing. The same could be said for the greens, which were primarily spray painted mud.
Pace of play was pretty rough as well considering the course wasn't packed. It is a great layout with some challenging shots, however; the conditions were practically unplayable.
I would save your money and time driving to play elsewhere.

Lago Vista has improved
I play Lago Vista GC frequently because of the the price to play which is great 31$ for week day morning tee times and they have been putting in a lot of work to make the course conditions better. It is not nearly as bad as some of the reviews suggest. There still are a few greens that need some work especially the par three 5th. Tee boxes have been repaired and now have grass and they are trimming a lot of trees. There are still some issues in the fairways but it’s winter and the grass in is dormant.I am glad the city of Lago Vista has taken the feedback and put in the effort to make the course better. But don’t take my work for it, get out to Lago and see for yourself

Greens ?
The Greens were in horrible condition. I have played this course multiple times and it appears that any work on the freens isnt paying off, or are getting destroyed by the deer?

Played 15 years ago... needs lots of work before I return
I played this course quite a bit 15 years ago, was beautiful and fun to play. Fast forward to today, Father Time has not been kind to this course, or at least the greens. To be blunt, many on front nine are unplayable, the rest are for the most part dead/dormant, no over seeding here, just dead grass. Many of the greens have no boarder from green to fringe to fairway, it just kind of blends.
The fairways and tee boxes were fine with some grass growing. The course itself is a great layout, fun challenging, the whole works!
I probably won’t play this course again until it has some major green work done.

Lago Vista GC has improved
Lago Vista golf course is a lake front course with splendid views. They have a friendly staff and excellent beer prices. Also the cost per round of golf is the lowest I’ve ever found. Huge bang for your buck.

Greens were a bit sketchy when i played. Grass was dormant so it was hard to tell if they were thin or just dormant. Overall enjoyable! I would love to play it again!!
