About
The Lago Vista Course is Lago Vista resort’s original track, designed by Leon Howard in the late 1960s and renovated by Dave Bennett in 1992. The golf course has four water holes, more than 40 bunkers, and dramatic elevation changes of up to 100 feet. Lago Vista is known for its demanding par 3s, which all go right at 200 yards. No. 10 is fun because it can be reached in two: a 495-yard par 5 with a creek that looms right.
Getting to Lago Vista: From Austin, take Hwy. 183 north to FM 1431, then turn west 11 miles. When you come to Lohmas Ford Rd. turn left and drive 3 miles, then turn right on Boggy Ford R. Veer to the right and follow the signs to the golf course.

Great Course!
I've been playing here regularly this year. It's a great course with friendly and helpful staff. I had been away for a couple of weeks.
I was surprised to find that the greens on holes 5, 6 & 7 are being re-done. They are gone actually - dug up. Temporary greens are in front of them. Calling them "greens" might be a bit of an overstatement.
The real kicker was that my GPS yardage and scoring app was off on the yardages and it didn't believe me when I entered my scores. :)
I will continue to play here.

Disappointed Round
Course is in bad shape. Several holes that have what looks like a temporary green area and staffs failed to mention about these holes. Looks like quality has gone way down hill..

Course layout
The layout is great fun with elevated tee boxes and great views of the lake and surrounding countryside. Unfortunately, the fairways and greens have not come in. Was able to find grass most of the time. Would play again as hoping grass will come in. Greens are undulated and provide a great challenge, but most have bare spots.

Beautiful scenery
This course is absolutely beautiful with hill country and lake views as well as great challenging hole up and down hill.
Some areas need maintenance e.g. the greens, but that just adds another challenge. I recommend this course anyway the beauty is priceless.

Fun course, greens need work
Fun layout and design. Very cool views of the lake. Greens had a lot of sand and dead spots on the fringes. If those come around this will be a great course.

Beautiful, breathtaking Texas Hill Country Views!
Great course and value. COVID-19 issues aside, it is great to have a course near me that is in very good condition. Greens were recently aerated, but still very playable. Continuous maintenance on the course is keeping it in very good condition.

Beautiful scenery, greens need work
It's a great course layout. A lot of fun surprises and views. The green need help, a lot of sand and dead spots. Made it real tough in the morning when it was wet. When the greens make a come back (fingers crossed) this is a fun course. Clubhouse was closed due to covid so can't speak to that. I'll be going back, just hope the greens come back around by then.

Greens Need Work
If you can ignore the shape of the greens, it's not a bad layout for the most part. I will admit hitting into blind areas without course knowledge was somewhat frustrating. The pro shop and dining area are nice. The range is small, but fine. The green fees are relatively low, but I probably won't be back unless they fix the greens.

A challenging course
From the first tee to the last green you are being challenged to execute playmaking shots of various types. The fairways are short at the moment but should improve in the near future. Greens are fast, and need springtime growth to fill out.

Moor maintainance
Green is so so bad condition.

Rough shape
I have played this course several times over the years and have never seen it in this bad of shape. The fairways were patchy at best with multiple varieties of grass growing. The same could be said for the greens, which were primarily spray painted mud.
Pace of play was pretty rough as well considering the course wasn't packed. It is a great layout with some challenging shots, however; the conditions were practically unplayable.
I would save your money and time driving to play elsewhere.

Lago Vista has improved
I play Lago Vista GC frequently because of the the price to play which is great 31$ for week day morning tee times and they have been putting in a lot of work to make the course conditions better. It is not nearly as bad as some of the reviews suggest. There still are a few greens that need some work especially the par three 5th. Tee boxes have been repaired and now have grass and they are trimming a lot of trees. There are still some issues in the fairways but it’s winter and the grass in is dormant.I am glad the city of Lago Vista has taken the feedback and put in the effort to make the course better. But don’t take my work for it, get out to Lago and see for yourself
