Lago Vista Golf Course

It looks like watering is needed on all playing areas of the course.

Dead animals on the course, terrible greens, the entire course smelled bad.

Course with beautiful views and decent pace of play. The tee boxes were sandy and had some areas with heavy fire ants. The fairways were in decent shape although some areas pretty dry (it is later in summer). The greens were in bad shape, thick areas of grassy weeds, sand pits, bare areas, really just once you hit the green you know why you are paying a low price.

All in all alright course but personally I would rather spend the extra $20 to play a course in much better conditions.

Hence, you get what you pay for.

Course has a good layout, very scenic, competitive holes. Clubhouse staff very friendly. Play was a little slow. For the cost course was very good!

The City of Lago Vista owns this course . . . and obviously doesn't care about golfers. It is by far the worst course I have played in Central Texas and just about the worst course in the world.

Which is sad, because the layout is quite interesting and would be a challenge . . . if the course was not a broken down dog tract.

Many of the greens, if you can call them that, on the front nine had multiple holes in them, little or no grass, and were the worst greens I have ever seen. It was clear that they were not watering the front nine to the level necessary to maintain the greens, the tee boxes, and the fairways.

The front nine fairways were uneven in their condition, with many parts of the fairway covered with brown, dead grass on top of soil that was a hard as rocks. Many of the tee boxes were so hard that it was almost impossible to stick your tee into the ground.

What makes no sense is that the city of Lago Vista owns the golf course and the golf course is right next to the Lago Vista water treatment plant. So there should be zero problem with the city using its water to water its golf course. But they didn’t.

When Lago Vista owned Highland Lakes, they piped city water across town to water that course. So why not water the course that is right next to your plant?

The back nine was in much better shape, but still had serious issues.

I was embarrassed to have invited two friends to play Lago Vista for the first time.

Not all was bad. The people at the course are wonderful . . . and the Yamaha gas carts are in great shape.

But the golf course is a disaster. It should be should be shut down until they can bring it back to life.

For me, it doesn’t make a difference what they do. We will never, ever play that golf course again as long as I am alive.

A friend and I met here to play on Labor Day. I typically do not leave negative reviews, however the shape that this course is in warrants such a review. To be short about the course... to start, there is no starter on duty and the pro shop let a group of 6 locals tee off in between scheduled tee times of groups of 4. And that went just as you would suspect... slow. The whole course is in really rough shape. So, if this is your only choice then maybe, but otherwise find another course.

It is a beautiful lake view and hilly golf course. If you like to see nature life and it is a wonderful place for you. The elevation change is quite challenging in the back 9 holes. The length of golf course is longer, but the fairways are very wide and you won’t lose a lot of balls. The downside is The fairways is very hard.

Had not played LV for quite sometime. I was actually quite impressed with the condition of the course although it does appear that the course could do with a little bit of water.Greens were quite lush and very slow though.

Some tee boxes required a nailgun to get a tee in the ground but STILL, very good value for money!.

Fairways are improved from all the rain this year. Many greens have bare spots and the tee boxes were rock hard. Overall, it is a four star layout with 2.5 star conditions.

Great course for the price! Brings challenges for all types of players. Wish it was closer to Marble falls tx, it would be my home course.

Let me start by saying that I've played this course numerous times and it is typically a very enjoyable round--which is why I don't mind making the 45 mins drive from Austin.

However, the last couple of times I've played we had to wait for the landscaper to mow the green... as we were waiting to hit our approach. This went on for the first 4-5 holes and in caused a noticeable backup.

As you can imagine, this was a bit frustrating.

My only ask would be to make sure that this is being taken care of earlier in the morning before the first group goes out.

Fairways are in wonderful condition, greens due to the rain definitely have a fungus issue. Are you in that wonderful course.

Typical hill country golf.... pace was was good. greens were in terrible condition.

The bad: The greens were in very bad shape and were not consistent. There were massive dead spots on every green (Do not hit one of those spots with a chip) Some of the greens were very slow while others were much faster.

The fairway grass was too long. Basically, every lie in the fairway was a flier lie meaning you couldn't spin the ball to stop it on the greens.

The good: The layout is good if a bit short. There are a lot of interesting holes and you will be called upon to hit a variety of shots. There are some truly magnificent views around the course.

Other stuff: I was encouraged to not walk the course, but I definitely could have. There are some holes (15) that will tax you if you walk, but it wouldn't have been too bad.

Overall, for only paying $20 it wasn't a terrible course, but I did find myself getting frustrated at hitting what I thought were good putts and watching them come up several feet short or blast past the hole because the greens were different speeds.

Most if not all the greens were in very poor shape. Dead grass, sand and dirt. I understand that they are determining whether to spend in excess of 1 mill to redo the greens.

The fairways, tee boxes etc were in excellent condition.

The layout and views of the countryside are beautiful.

The layout is good. Challenging at times but a lot of fun. However, the greens are terrible and the pace of that play is horrid. The 19th hole is nice with good food. Emotional roller coaster with you walking away saying meh!
