Lago Vista Golf Course
About
The Lago Vista Course is Lago Vista resort’s original track, designed by Leon Howard in the late 1960s and renovated by Dave Bennett in 1992. The golf course has four water holes, more than 40 bunkers, and dramatic elevation changes of up to 100 feet. Lago Vista is known for its demanding par 3s, which all go right at 200 yards. No. 10 is fun because it can be reached in two: a 495-yard par 5 with a creek that looms right.
Getting to Lago Vista: From Austin, take Hwy. 183 north to FM 1431, then turn west 11 miles. When you come to Lohmas Ford Rd. turn left and drive 3 miles, then turn right on Boggy Ford R. Veer to the right and follow the signs to the golf course.

Looking down on # 9 green. and a big buck Photo submitted by hoffmonster on 10/21/2012
nice layout
fairways were wet and the grass was long, played longer, where did all this wetness come from [no rain in the last 3 weeks], the greens were a little on the slow side, nice layout on the holes with doglegs and elevation changes, unfortunately we were following a ladies outing , enough said, lots of deer
lago vista golf
Great views, very leisurely, great course for the price.
This course has great scenic views of Lake Travis
Overall my experience is great. The greens were a little slow but it's in nicer shape than it was a few months ago.
Great. Views
I enjoyed the course and staff friendliness. I especially enjoyed the views on the 9th and 15th holes.
This course has great value for the price
We'll kept golf course with friendly pro shop employee. Loved the roaming deer. Great lay out with a couple of challenging holes. Will definite come back!!!
Good For The Money
Course was in pretty good shape -- despite drought and the lake being so far down, it's well watered; one should appreciate their effort, especially for how much you're paying. If you should get paired up with a regular, take in all the local knowledge you can get out of them -- greens are large, and with only rudimentary yardage information, you're liable to add a half dozen strokes to your score through misclubbing. Bunker conditions are also a problem. Overall, though, you're getting a good deal for your round, and there are some fun holes and nice views.
Long drive to a course that is in poor shape!
I called the golf shop and asked if the course was in good shape. They answered with Yes, its if great shape. It is a 1.5 hour drive for me to get there. Upon arriving, I found the fairways, tee boxes and other areas, havent been mowed in quite sometime. Also, alot of bare spots on fairways.
A perfect drive (I had many), would be followed up by hitting out of the dirt or tall rough in the center of fairway. False advertising!
Wonderful Course
A great course that offers challenges for beginners as well as advanced players. The course is always kept in very good condition even in the heat of the summer fairways are still in excellent condition. Greens are always kept nice as well. Staff is always friendly and accommodating. Definitely well worth the drive and your time!
Friendly staff, golfers, and a course that has potential but not quite there.
Worth the trip but really hope someone takes initiative (would require funding) to take this course from so-so to great. A lot of blind shots and not a course to walk. Played with 4 locals who were a fun group.
Gorgeous views
For a hot day in August, the course is in great shape. Greens and fairways were in fine shape. I hadn't played out here in more than 10 years and was glad we picked this course. Pace was slower than would expect, but will plan on going back again.
Great job
Great job by the course maintenance guys to keep the course in as good a shape as it is despite the heat and lack of rain.
Only issue was the lack of a starter.
Tee boxes could use some work
Nice course. Challenge was there. All of the tee boxes were St. Augustine and not in good shape. Difficult to low tee irons and hybrids off of.
LOVED all the deer on the course!
Friendliest Course in Texas!
I just had my best game ever (almost broke 100) I am still a beginner (16 months) and I have played this course several times and call it my home course. It is grea for beginners as it does not have many water hazards or sand traps and the ones that are there are easy to manage. Beautiful scenery and plenty of deer to aim at :)
a central texas staple
such a very player friendly course. Just the right amount of challenge. The greens were soft, but very slow and in need of a cut but overall very good value for the money
Fun golf course with a great grill and friendly staff.
This is a typical muni from the condition standpoint but has a great / fun layout with scenery and wildlife that really make it a course I recommend to anyone who loves to play!
Greens sandy & punched
Played day after storm and the corse had not been mowed, understandable but made for very poor conditions. Greens were sanded, punched and very slow and rough.
Awesome corse
Corse was in great condition, staff was friendly, and greens were great!
lago vista
A top rated course with beautiful surroundings a great place to play. Food inside is great beer are only $2
Well worth it.
Pleased with course features and conditions. Plan for shots with slope and hills. Looking forward to playing again.
Great Challange
Great course. I would have liked to have more time to play the entire 18 holes. The 9th hole was interesting with t shot to what seemed like the edge of the earth. I have not played a course that had so many massive changes in altitude! Course was good but not too challenging for a high handicapper like myself. I know some of the T shots were intimidating and awe inspiring like the par 5 hitting off the hill to a very wide fairway. Great course I look forward to playing there in the future.
