The Lago Vista Course is Lago Vista resort’s original track, designed by Leon Howard in the late 1960s and renovated by Dave Bennett in 1992. The golf course has four water holes, more than 40 bunkers, and dramatic elevation changes of up to 100 feet. Lago Vista is known for its demanding par 3s, which all go right at 200 yards. No. 10 is fun because it can be reached in two: a 495-yard par 5 with a creek that looms right.

Getting to Lago Vista: From Austin, take Hwy. 183 north to FM 1431, then turn west 11 miles. When you come to Lohmas Ford Rd. turn left and drive 3 miles, then turn right on Boggy Ford R. Veer to the right and follow the signs to the golf course.

Course was in very good shape. Greens were a bit long, but recent rains may have been the cause. No cart girl the whole round??

Third time to play. Course is in good shape, recent rain has greened things up but made getting the greens mowed delayed. Have yet to see the cart girl on the course.

Need to MOW

there was no discernible difference between fairway and rough. There is no reward for being accurate off the tee. All the grass on the course was over an inch long. It is also thick so it grabs your club on every shot. Greens were slow and bumpy. It is what it is. $27 at 11am on a weekend is worth it, but don't expect much.

They need to figure out how to use a lawn mower.

This course was inexpensive ($35)but after playing a few holes I thought even that was too much. Even if you hit the fairway, it felt like you were constantly playing out of the rough because the fairway grass was so long. That became increasingly frustrating as the round progressed. The scenery and wildlife around the course was pretty cool, and the greens were in pretty good shape. The staff was friendly. The experience would have been great if the fairways were cut.

Good for beginners for a discount

Driving range - small, hitting surface poor. Practice green - ok, speed same as greens on course which is important. Short course - from the tips only 1 par 4 was 400 yds, most were 330-350. Tee boxes are long grass, fairways are long grass, greens are slower than average but not bumpy. Hole layouts are nice though. Wasn't crowded. Would recommend to beginners, or people living close if they can find it for cheap. We played for $13 w/cart, but I wouldn't drive an hour even if it was free.

The course needs the grass cut.

The course could of been so much better, it really needed the fairways cut to proper lengths. The greens had beautiful grass but were very slow.

The tons of friendly deer provided a pretty neat experience. Some of the holes had a great view.

I drove over 1 hour to play the course and wouldn't recommend it if you were in a similar situation.

This course is very scenic

I've played this golf course many times so it's one that I am very familiar with. I will continue to make the trip through the hill country to play here as long as the rates stay affordable.

Good layout, elevation changes make for unique holes, decent condition

Lago Vista has a layout that will keep you interested but it seems to be past its prime. The course seems generally old but it is a good value if you are not concerned with periphery type stuff (hole signs, ball washers, flag sticks). The grass on the tee boxes and fairways is a little long and the greens are just OK. Interesting doglegs require some precise shots and it is worthwhile to drive ahead to take a look at the blind shots if you're a first timer. It isn't a long course--if you drive the ball 250-260+ I would recommend playing the back tees. There are some nice views from a few of the tee boxes. Overall, a worthwhile trip.

Laga Vista Views at a great price.

I went out on 7/20 with a buddy and played 18 holes. They pace of play was a little slow due to a few 4-somes that were holding everyone up. We did wait on every tee box to tee off, but the views and wildlife made up for the waiting around in between shots. The tee boxes were well maintained as well as having great fairways. It was challenging with sand and trees and a little water being on the course. The greens could use some work. They were green, but long and rolled slowly.

This course is a fun and challenging course.

I liked the course, but it is a course that you have to play twice to really enjoy it . It has some holes that you need to know where to hit to have a second shot. I enjoyed the staff and the course and look forward to playing it again.

Nice place for a relax round of golf

Short if played from the whites. Nice scenery with many white tail deers around, reasonably maintained with decent greens. Couple of blind holes make it interesting to play.

Great Bargain...super friendly staff. Course was in good shape. Was prefect for my younger son to play along. ONly problem was a twosome playing in front of us who thought they were on the PGA tour. Wouldn't let us play though and no marshal patrolling

Lots of great holes with scenery

Course was in good shape with some challenging holes. I wasnt prepared for all of the deer on the course. It was crazy seeing 6-8 deer on every hole on the front nine. I am used to deer running from me not walking up to me. It was alot of fun and I would certainly recommend this course to any type of golfer.
