Lago Vista Golf Course
About
The Lago Vista Course is Lago Vista resort’s original track, designed by Leon Howard in the late 1960s and renovated by Dave Bennett in 1992. The golf course has four water holes, more than 40 bunkers, and dramatic elevation changes of up to 100 feet. Lago Vista is known for its demanding par 3s, which all go right at 200 yards. No. 10 is fun because it can be reached in two: a 495-yard par 5 with a creek that looms right.
Getting to Lago Vista: From Austin, take Hwy. 183 north to FM 1431, then turn west 11 miles. When you come to Lohmas Ford Rd. turn left and drive 3 miles, then turn right on Boggy Ford R. Veer to the right and follow the signs to the golf course.

Scenic Course in Great Condition
Took my father -in -law out for his first round of golf in 61 years. He really enjoyed having the deer walk up to our cart. The fairways and greens were in wonderful condition. I will be going back for another round this weekend.
Good value
Course in good shape. Good value. Pace was fast (we played another 9)
A must play in Central Texas.
Couldn't believe how green the course was and how great of shape everything was in. They have done a great job and even though I live in downtown Austin it's definitely worth the drive.
Great course for affordability, views and all around good time!
I have lived in the area for 30 years...and have played the course a number of times. Never has the course been in better all around condition as it is right now. My hat is off to the staff and grounds keeping crew! I will be back again...with many more friends. Thanks for a great day! Bob M.
Great course
Great course, the views are spectacular the greens are well maintained and challenging on some holes overall great course.
Very good course for the money. I will recommend it.
The course is in superb shape, however fairways need to be a little shorter to distinguish from the rough. Greens seemed quite slow but putted true. Tee boxes need to be more level.
Fairways and greens were immaculate
The overall condition of the course was impressive. The fairways were like soft green carpet, the views were scenic holes were set up to be fun and challenging at the same time.
Good value, good time
I played Lago Vista Golf Course for the first time this past Saturday and overall, it was a pleasant experience. The employees were cordial, and some were very friendly (restaurant). The course was in pretty good shape. And for the money, on a Saturday morning, it was a good value and I had a good time. My two biggest complaints are:
(1) the tee boxes are all mounded so it was difficult to find a flat spot in the boxes (where we should always have a flat lie).
(2) Pace of play was extremely slow (even for a Saturday morning)! I was paired up with a 3-some that all shot 100+ but we were still waiting on EVERY shot on the 3-some in front of us. We saw the marshal a few times, but he never said anything to us and definitely didn't speed up the group in front of us.
Overall, it was still a good time, and a good value. I'll play Lago Vista again.
Great time to play this course.
You wouldn't know there was a drought in Central Texas by looking at this course. The place was in spectacular condition. The fairways and greens were spectacular. Great hilly course with scenic views. We had a white tail buck walk up to our cart and eat sunflower seeds from our hand. Sorry for feeding the wildlife. It was an absolute blast to play.
Great course for the money
This is one of the best courses for the money in the Austin area. Great staff, course is in good shape and green are very good for this time of year. The greens where puched 1 1/2 ago and are a little slow, but stil in good shape.
Good Course
Had a very pleasant time. The course is in great shape with healthy grass on the fairways and the greens. The grass on the fairways was a little thick; it could pass for the first cut in some places. With that in mind, i would rather have grass that's a little thick than fairways that are bare. the course has some serious elevation changes, making shots that are say 150 play more like 120 or 125. That keeps things interesting. The staff was friendly and the diner looks like it was updated relatively recently and had a great menu. $2 beer doesn't hurt at all either. Over all this is a good course. We paid $28 each and would have happily paid more.
Interesting!!
This is a fun course in the hills outside of Austin. It starts off with some nice straight warm up holes before it starts to test your shot making ability. #9 is particularly interesting with a blind tee shot only to leave you with a even blinder shot to a green which is situated about 70 yards below your site line. Also, it has roads on two sides. The back nine is fun with some nice challenging holes. Very well maintained course when I played, and worth the drive and money.
Mow
I like the course, but the fairways need attention. The cutt needs to be lower. There is liitle roll after your shot hits the fairway. Please lower the cut on the greens too! Thanks
New Favorite
Not only the great value, but the excellent condition the course is in will bring myself and my friends back for more. There was a slow 2-some in front of us, but the $2 beers kept us happy.
Poor customer service
Good course in a beautiful location. Women checking me barked "tee time" and then tossed keys and bucket of balls to me and turned around and kept talking. It was not a busy day.
Well maintained, rolling hills with trees, lots of trees.

Pretty good course at a great price.
The course is in pretty good shape. I enjoy playing here.
Course is in great condition after the recent rain. Greens a little slower than their normal quick pace.
Grass was in great shape on tees, fairways and greens. Greens were a little firm, and mowed pretty high, so they were a little bit slow (unusual for this course). Course is not overly long, but has a lot of vertical changes and blind tee shots. Friendly staff and golfers. Played a twosome, and we were consistenly waved through larger groups. Completed the round in 2.5 hours.
Nothing special.
Played March 2013. Got a good rate on Golf Now ($24 with cart and range balls). Course is probably average at best. Fairways were cut to primary rough length. Greens were in good shape. I walked the course and it is very hilly. Friendly staff and pace of play good (3.5 hours).
The course was in as good of condition as I have ever seen it.
I have played this course many times over the last 12 years and have never seen the fairways and greens in this good of condition. I would recommend this course to anyone who is looking for a course in good shape with great views and at a very good price.
