The Lago Vista Course is Lago Vista resort’s original track, designed by Leon Howard in the late 1960s and renovated by Dave Bennett in 1992. The golf course has four water holes, more than 40 bunkers, and dramatic elevation changes of up to 100 feet. Lago Vista is known for its demanding par 3s, which all go right at 200 yards. No. 10 is fun because it can be reached in two: a 495-yard par 5 with a creek that looms right.

Getting to Lago Vista: From Austin, take Hwy. 183 north to FM 1431, then turn west 11 miles. When you come to Lohmas Ford Rd. turn left and drive 3 miles, then turn right on Boggy Ford R. Veer to the right and follow the signs to the golf course.

Good course, overbooked

The course is in fantastic shape...maybe could stand a mowing in the fairways but otherwise very green and lush. Greens were consistent even if my putter is not. The only problem - and it's a big one - was th pace. Somewhere after the turn a group skipped or rejoined and it ground to a halt. Waiting on every tee box and most approaches. This really killed the fun. We intended to play a 2nd 18 but we're too frustrated to stay.

Great value

Course was a great value. Course was the greenest I'd ever seen. Looked like they over seeded a little and were letting the fairways grow out, but still was nice. Greens were a little inconsistent in speed but they were soft and maintained very well. Enjoyed my round.

First Time Playing

Pleasantly Suprised

This was my first visit to Lago Vista. The layout was challenging. The course was in great shape and the greens rolled smooth and true but slow compared to what I usually play. Great staff and food in the Grill. Scenic views and pace of play were great. You do need some local knowledge as there are some blind shots and the greens can be tricky to read. Will definitely be back.

Very Green. They got unlimited water supply!!

Owned by City of Lago Vista, they use the waste water plant grey water to water the course. Almost wet at times. But green like you were in Ireland. I think they keep the fairways cut a little long. Greens are nice and roll great. No dead spots that I can remember on a single one. I live in the area, so I play here at least once a week average. Weekdays are pretty open, especially in the afternoon. Weekends fill up. Find a burner deal on Golfnow. I played for $19 yesterday with range balls and cart.

Nice course

I played this course on a Tuesday morning and cruised through the front 9. On the back 9 I got stuck behind a group of retirees who couldn't hit the ball more than 100 yards at a time. Instead of letting me play through (like any normal group would do) I was forced to play at a incrediby slow pace. Overall the course was very nice and it was amazing how much wildlife there was there. The greens were in great shape.

Great Value for money

Greens are in excellent condition, and the fairways are in good shape. The grass is a little long on the fairways, but at least they are not dried out and hard. The rough is long and challenging in places, and fairly bare in other spots. All in all the course is in decent shape and well worth the price.

The course if very fair

The only problem i have with this course is that the staff does not keep the tee times in line and if you sign up with Golf now.com the group you are supposed to play with may have been sent off earlier and you are told to go ahead and play when you're ready.Well playing golf alone is not a whole lot of fun. When i sign up i look for a tee time that already has someone scheduled to play with you.

Fun course to play

Course is in great shape with outstanding greens! Doesn't seem like they try to pack in tee times so the pace of play is good with room between the groups. Also had a great lunch for a reasonable price

Scenic Course in Great Condition

Took my father -in -law out for his first round of golf in 61 years. He really enjoyed having the deer walk up to our cart. The fairways and greens were in wonderful condition. I will be going back for another round this weekend.

A must play in Central Texas.

Couldn't believe how green the course was and how great of shape everything was in. They have done a great job and even though I live in downtown Austin it's definitely worth the drive.

Great course for affordability, views and all around good time!

I have lived in the area for 30 years...and have played the course a number of times. Never has the course been in better all around condition as it is right now. My hat is off to the staff and grounds keeping crew! I will be back again...with many more friends. Thanks for a great day! Bob M.

Very good course for the money. I will recommend it.

The course is in superb shape, however fairways need to be a little shorter to distinguish from the rough. Greens seemed quite slow but putted true. Tee boxes need to be more level.

Good value, good time

I played Lago Vista Golf Course for the first time this past Saturday and overall, it was a pleasant experience. The employees were cordial, and some were very friendly (restaurant). The course was in pretty good shape. And for the money, on a Saturday morning, it was a good value and I had a good time. My two biggest complaints are:
(1) the tee boxes are all mounded so it was difficult to find a flat spot in the boxes (where we should always have a flat lie).
(2) Pace of play was extremely slow (even for a Saturday morning)! I was paired up with a 3-some that all shot 100+ but we were still waiting on EVERY shot on the 3-some in front of us. We saw the marshal a few times, but he never said anything to us and definitely didn't speed up the group in front of us.
Overall, it was still a good time, and a good value. I'll play Lago Vista again.

Great time to play this course.

You wouldn't know there was a drought in Central Texas by looking at this course. The place was in spectacular condition. The fairways and greens were spectacular. Great hilly course with scenic views. We had a white tail buck walk up to our cart and eat sunflower seeds from our hand. Sorry for feeding the wildlife. It was an absolute blast to play.

Great course for the money

This is one of the best courses for the money in the Austin area. Great staff, course is in good shape and green are very good for this time of year. The greens where puched 1 1/2 ago and are a little slow, but stil in good shape.

Good Course

Had a very pleasant time. The course is in great shape with healthy grass on the fairways and the greens. The grass on the fairways was a little thick; it could pass for the first cut in some places. With that in mind, i would rather have grass that's a little thick than fairways that are bare. the course has some serious elevation changes, making shots that are say 150 play more like 120 or 125. That keeps things interesting. The staff was friendly and the diner looks like it was updated relatively recently and had a great menu. $2 beer doesn't hurt at all either. Over all this is a good course. We paid $28 each and would have happily paid more.

Interesting!!

This is a fun course in the hills outside of Austin. It starts off with some nice straight warm up holes before it starts to test your shot making ability. #9 is particularly interesting with a blind tee shot only to leave you with a even blinder shot to a green which is situated about 70 yards below your site line. Also, it has roads on two sides. The back nine is fun with some nice challenging holes. Very well maintained course when I played, and worth the drive and money.
