Lago Vista Golf Course
About
The Lago Vista Course is Lago Vista resort’s original track, designed by Leon Howard in the late 1960s and renovated by Dave Bennett in 1992. The golf course has four water holes, more than 40 bunkers, and dramatic elevation changes of up to 100 feet. Lago Vista is known for its demanding par 3s, which all go right at 200 yards. No. 10 is fun because it can be reached in two: a 495-yard par 5 with a creek that looms right.
Getting to Lago Vista: From Austin, take Hwy. 183 north to FM 1431, then turn west 11 miles. When you come to Lohmas Ford Rd. turn left and drive 3 miles, then turn right on Boggy Ford R. Veer to the right and follow the signs to the golf course.

Good course without the crowds
I've only played the course twice but I enjoy playing it during the week since it isn't crowded and offers challenging blind shots with plenty of elevation changes while not being too narrow.
Great shape. Tee access steps on back nine need replacing.
Enjoyed the round but wind gust were too high for my comfort. (No fault of the course). Course is in great shape given the recent drought situation. Views are awesome. Restaurant is a real plus. Wooden stairs to elevated tee needs replacing. Hazard to climb.
Great views, challenging holes.
We play this course over the years and will keep coming back. Many of my family and friends from abroad have joined us and show their pictures and memorize their well played holes on this course on various occasions. By the way, the burgers on the turn are really delicious. Thanks to you all on Lago Vista Golfcourse.
Fun course, good value
Fun course, good value, generally good condition for a muni type course. Facilities are spartan. Best of all... no crowds.
Friday Round Gone Wild
We played on a Friday - got a hot deal for $16 a round - can't be beat. At full price this course is still nicely kept for a region that is in one of the worst droughts on record. Hilly and challenging the undulating course meanders through the Lago Vista neighborhood offering spectacular views of what is left of Lake Travis. The holes are deceptively hard because of the layout. The par 4 #9 hole is a special delight as it is a dogleg right down a terraced hill. Your tee shot should split the trees sown the center and your approach is to a back to front slope so the green holds most approaches. Your putt is almost certain to be from above the hole - short hole -but difficult because of the green. All in all a nice after noon - even had someone from Kentucky playing and his comment was how hilly the course was - it drained him. We finished our round under four hours.
Fun place to play
Lago Vista is settled in the hill country near Lake Travis northwest of Austin.
A somewhat challenging course that is not overly long. Lots of elevation change. There are several places where the view of the lake and the hill country are just gorgeous . A couple of blind shots await (9 & 12) but they really are not bad at all. Greens are a good size, with lots of hidden break in them . It may be a bit tough the 1st couple times you play it. But after a little course knowledge this place is lots of fun. The fairways and greens are always in great shape. Staff is very friendly, They have an awesome snack bar/cafe. I play here all the time as it is not nearly as crowded as the course closer to the city. One of my favorites for sure.
This course has great features and price good
overall condition very good. good for the golf fan player
Unique Layout
Varied terrain, some blind shots, well placed trees to add challenge to holes. Great views of Hill Country and Lake Travis.
Fairways could have been mowed tighter, sand traps usual issues (packed sand) on this price of course. Rough was mowed properly and well maintained.
Played it on a GolfNow super saver tee time. Price totaled $32 for a twosome which was a great overall bargain. Weekdays on GolfNow typically $28 per person which is still a good value.
Need to mo the grass !!
Solid greens, quick pace of play and interesting holes....but they need to cut the fairways. Rory Mclroy wouldn't be able to chop his way out, if he could even find his ball.....sheesh. But for $25...why not!
This course has well prepared.
I enjoyed a lot for a nice view, a good fair way and a green.
Great big soft greens
My sons and I have played this course before. It's lay out is fun to play time and time again. Good staff and food. The starter said every hole should be played in 15 minutes, and slow players allow faster players to play thru. I live in the DFW area and travel to Austin to play with my sons.
