About
Makray Memorial Golf Club (formerly known as Thunderbird Country Club) is a public course that has been open since 1962. To commemorate 40 years of great golf, the course was remodeled and revamped in 2002. The renovations improved its playability and also made it more challenging. The championship-caliber layout features strategically placed bunkers, including some Scottish-style sod-faced ones, and tricky water hazards on several holes. The hilly terrain offers both challenging elevation changes and scenic views. The golf course finishes with a long par 5 that plays across a canyon of berms to a narrow fairway. Further accuracy is needed to reach the well guarded green surrounded by high berms, a pot bunker to the left, and a deep, steep bunker to the right. In addition to the course, Makray Memorial G.C. boasts an extensive practice facility with 1 1/2 acres of grass teeing ground, two putting greens, and a short-game area.

Worth the price!
The GC is well maintained and the Putting Green is challenging,total the golf course is nice and good.

The greens were unfair horrible pin placements hit a shot on 9th hole3 feet to the pin it rolled off green 60 feet
Great Course
This was my first time here and I will definitely be back. Even in November the beauty was evident, can’t imagine how good it looks during the summer months. Rolling hills, challenging holes but very playable with a great combination of water, wheat grass and natural layouts. This might be my new favorite
Fun, challenging course
The course is still in great shape for this late in the season. Greens very fast typically, but were a bit more manageable this time around. Carts are very nice and have GPS. If you have a weekday off, would highly recommend grabbing a tee time here at a much discounted price!
Great Fall rate
I have always liked this course. Great layout and the fairways and greens were in good condition for this time of year.the clubhouse is one of the best in the area. I Lost a couple of balls due to the amount of leaves on the course.oh well, it’s fall. The Clubhouse was closed due to Covid but they are everywhere. getting a $54 rate at this course is about right. I believe the normal $95 rate on the weekends is overpriced.
Not for the average golfer
Severe greenside bunkering and greens too fast to accomodate the extreme contours make this course undesirable for even low double-digit handicaps.
3 hours for first 9 holes
This place sucks. Start time was delayed 25 minutes due to backlog. 8 minute starting interval is undoable. We played first nine hole in 3 hours and quit. Course is ridiculously difficult and unfair, especially the greens. I will never play here again.

Excellent layout and scenery - course was in great shape - greens are tough (sloped) and too fast for my liking but enjoyable...staff is great and friendly -- would definitely play again
Over priced and terrible conditions!
We took a friend out for his birthday so we paid the rate since it was close to his house. What a mistake.
This course is in terrible shape. Tee boxes are all beat up, fairways are so-so and the greens are the most ridiculous to putt of almost any course I've ever played. If you don't hit a perfect putt, and I mean PERFECT, you can literally roll out 15-20 feet past the hole on 3/4's of the greens.
We've played a lot this year, and this place was in the worst condition of any course we've played.
I don't really write too many reviews, but had to after this debacle. I still can't believe that we paid over $90 to play this course.
Do yourself a favor and play somewhere else for less. You will thank me later!
Great course/greedy pro shop lady
Course is great but you need a "greens slope book" to judge your approach shots or you will 3 put.
I was charged an additional $10 for the cart for riding alone, even though the tee sheet only showed 3 players - is that fair or greed?
I will not support this type of behavior and will inform my golfing friends of this situation. Maybe the pro shop lady pocked part of the $10 cash, because the invoice showed it was only for 9 holes?
