About
Makray Memorial Golf Club (formerly known as Thunderbird Country Club) is a public course that has been open since 1962. To commemorate 40 years of great golf, the course was remodeled and revamped in 2002. The renovations improved its playability and also made it more challenging. The championship-caliber layout features strategically placed bunkers, including some Scottish-style sod-faced ones, and tricky water hazards on several holes. The hilly terrain offers both challenging elevation changes and scenic views. The golf course finishes with a long par 5 that plays across a canyon of berms to a narrow fairway. Further accuracy is needed to reach the well guarded green surrounded by high berms, a pot bunker to the left, and a deep, steep bunker to the right. In addition to the course, Makray Memorial G.C. boasts an extensive practice facility with 1 1/2 acres of grass teeing ground, two putting greens, and a short-game area.

Tuesday golf
Really nice track! Staff was friendly and helpful. Fairways roll nice and greens are very fast especially in this heat! You don’t want to be long around the greens. GPS in cart gives you yardages to front, middle and back of green. Nice to be able to order food (house phone) at the tee box on 9. Deal on GolfNow made it a great value.
Did Not Disappoint
Has always been a favorite. Great course. Fantastic clubhouse
Greens need water
Good track with plenty of challenge. Greens are too firm, every approach shot needs to be played short to have any chance of staying on the green.

Makray is a great course with very challenging layout that really makes you think. Played it on the hottest day of the year..so far! Great day!
Wet, but they’re all wet
everywhere is totally soaked in water right now, so i don’t think that should affect the ratings. the greens rolled true with little to no imperfections which means everything when the greens roll as fast as they do here. rough was a bit long but i’m also just going to blame that on the fact that it’s still super wet out everywhere
Fun Track with Crazy Tough Greens
I had only one question after finishing my round. I went into the pro shop and asked if I was crazy or were those greens tough. Yeah, they were tough!!
Good Course, Lighning fast greens
Course was in good shape today despite the rain last week. These are extremely fast greens. Easy to putt the ball off the green in some areas.
Pricey, but a good test
I have never played in peak season on a weekend because of the price, but it's a good place to walk 9 at. Really challenging greens demand excellent lag putting or good approach shots. Some head scratching holes like #2 which require the player to either play a draw or land the ball on a 30 yard line to have a shot to the green (because of overgrown trees) and #12 which was newly redesigned but has features that seem out of place on the course. The par 3 #4 will surely stick with you the most but I'd also give a nod to #7-9 which is a great stretch. I find the back 9 much less interesting architecturally, besides the par 5s and the challenging 11th. Good warmup area and bar.
Great course!!!
The course was not very crowded so we played 18 holes in about 3:30. Every single person there was friendly and courteous making it feel like a private country club. The course was in fantastic shape considering one week ago we had 6 inches of snow on the ground. Now if they could only control the wind, it would have been a perfect day.
