The Ravines Golf Club
About
Ravines Golf Club is southwest Michigan's first Arnold Palmer signature course. The course is situated three hours outside of Detroit in Saugatuck. Thanks to wide fairways and generous landing areas, the layout is not as tough as it seems but it does have plenty of challenges in store. Strategically placed bunkers, mature trees, and wetlands all come into play throughout. There are some challenging holes on the front half, including the sixth and seventh, but the back nine opens with the golf course's toughest hole. The ninth is a long and difficult par 5 dogleg left where trees, water, and bunkers come into play. Ravines Golf Club's signature hole, though, is the par-3 17th, known for both its scenery and level of difficulty. This hole requires a risky shot over a ravine to one of the golf course's largest putting surfaces.

Challenging par 5 - tee shot over the ravine Photo submitted by u00000638985 on 06/03/2013
Perfect Michigan Golf Day
I love how well the greens are at this course, great speed and a nice challenge. (I don't like slow greens). Very consistent rough, fairways and good bunker sand. Extremely nice practice area. Staff are always top shelf!
Best value course
Beautiful sceneries, well maintained fairways and greens, the price is good and friendly staffs especially Marshal Bill, can’t ask for more.
be prepared
I have played here many times over the years. Its always been a great course in great condition.
HOWEVER
I don't know if they recently sold in the last couple years but the majority of the staff was egotistical and rude, especially the PGA Pro. He was condescending and acted as if I was wasting his time.
The staff in years past was always very welcoming and friendly. The friendliest guy there now was one of the kids handling my cart.
Go Play
This one the best course to play in southwest Michigan. Great layout, difficult could be challenging depend on the tees you play. Some great feather hole par 3 and par 5. It would be great play if you never play it before. I love playing their myself. What wonderful experience.

Awesome Arnie Palmer track, don’t know why I haven’t played here in 17 years!
Played here twice in 2004 and knew it was nice so it was way past time to revisit. With a 15% added discount off an already low TeeOff rate the wife and I paid $61.18 for a super Arnold Palmer track. Even though it was raining on the front 9 and cart path only we enjoyed the beautiful foliage on Friday 10/29/21. We paid $39 each 17 years ago so this was a bargain. The layout is gorgeous over ravines , some swamp carries, tons of sand traps, and lightning fast greens even with all the rain.
Great service by the young man bringing up a top of the line gps cart and loading our bags.
The beautiful homes blend in nicely. Certainly one of the best courses in the Grand Rapids/ Holland area.
Will be back
Nice layout
Very nice design: variety and challenge. The bunkers were large and plentiful but in rather poor condition: very little depth of sand. Fairway grass was kind of long. Very nice greens.
Great Course Design in West Michigan
First time playing/visiting Michigan and the course did not disappoint. The course design is well done and the staff was welcoming from checking in and throughout the course. The course was so awesome I had extra time I booked a replay rate and got another holes in and used the short game practice facility for another 2 hours until the sun went down. I wanted to get more souvenirs like a shirt, but their inventory was low and didn't have anything in my size (M). I ended up getting a towel, which sufficed but wish there was more.
There are a handful of blind tee shots so the carts have GPS enabled so that's helpful for a first timer to get your sight line correct otherwise you can be hitting out of the woods or drive it in a waste area if you are spraying it that day. I played in wet/light rain conditions, but the course drained very nicely and didn't adversely impact my game. I also played as a single, and the other players were very nice about letting me play through. I played the first 18 in about 3 hours, and the 2nd 18 in about 3.5 hours.
One comment I would say isn't to the course, but to the players here: Replace your divots and repair pitch marks. The turf at this course is so good you're throwing pancake sized divots from the fairway and saw a lot of them not replaced or filled.
Overall the course was great and would recommend anyone in the West Michigan area to check it out. If you're a fan of good course architecture and testing your shot making ability, then go to the ravines.
Hurting for Help
Ravines is always a great course to play with a tough layout and well kept conditions. The course today was a bit wet from rains on the previous day and maybe overnight. The staff needed help thought - no starter on a Sunday??? Only one girl in the pro shop and no help in the bar. While it is still a great value in West Michigan, they have fallen a little short of my expectations - which given previous experience were very high. Like many golf clubs - both high end and low - courses everywhere are being hurt by a lack of workers.
Amazing… once again
Second time playing this course and loved every second of it. Everything was perfect and greens/fairways were pristine.
Beauty
Truely a great course. Heather on the front and big deep ravines on the back. Large true rolling greens. Large layup areas. Lots of sand. All typical of a Palmer design.
Great track, perfect condition
Another great day at Ravines. Hot but great shape. Always enjoy a round here.
Great staff and very good value
The staff was great, cart kids where courteous and polite. Bar staff friendly and helpful. Course is well kept and the layout fair
I wound recommend
