terrible greens
I believe this is a community owned course, it's in rough shape. Many of the greens didn't have grass, so the sand that was in place, was just being washed out from the rains. No water coolers or ice were available. Greenside bunkers were dirt, no surprise at that rate. Rough could be thick, just an notice, it is rough after all ! Maybe go for the driving range and practice, not a place for a good round.
Has seen its better days
I’ve played this course several times over the last 6 months. Usually it is in good shape. However, today the course was rough. We were happy with 2 greens out of 18, all the others had dips, holes, and filled with sand. Very disappointed in this course today and especially the fact that they charge full price with the course in this shape.
On the plus side, the pace of play was good and I do really like the course layout.
Turkey Creek
Course was still quite wet. Greens are poor to terrible and weeds are everywhere.
Good Value, Good Course
A few sandy greens, a couple soggy areas missed by grounds team with no indicators. But we’ll designed course with great clubhouse. Golfnow Hotdeal is a great value.
Getting Better
The course is getting better but the greens are almost unplayable in this condition. Things were smooth at first but once we came to no. 6 it was a dead stop. The next three holes took 30 minutes each and no ranger in site. A foursome ahead had four groups piled up at no. 9 tee box. Quit after 9 because no confidence in the course solving the problem.
TC GC
The staff informed us to go off back as the front was being fertilized. We made the turn preparing to play # 2 a ranger shows up and states the front is still closed the mtce was not completed. Back to #10 for the second time now there are 3 groups on the tee. Now being frustrated at having to play the back again we have to wait at the turn. As a group we decided to leave rather than get angrier.
Love Turkey Creek
Fourth time playing this course and it’s very enjoyable. Highly recommended
Good golf course!
Turkey Creek Golf Course is a very good value for the price.
Fun course
I played this course for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. The greens need a little work but they weren’t bad. I look forward to playing it again. One of the better courses near the gainsville area.
Will be great after a rainy summer.
The course has recently opened back up and is in great shape for a fully volunteer run course. The greens roll nice, the fairways are nice and green. With nice tee boxes. The course itself is challenging, narrow fairways, well placed water, and good hills. The practice facility is great. The reason I give it a three is because some spots aren't great. There are dead spots in the fairway. The forward tee boxes have dirt spots. In a couple of months when the grass has fully grown back and the sprinklers do their jobs it should become a five star course (will update review later).
First Time
Booked with GOLFNOW for Friday at 10 am. Arrived early and was able to go out by myself. Course is narrow/tight lots of trees. Greens in good shape. Staff is great!!!! Learned that to course had been closed for 10 years and only open since January. Recommend for the price
Coming along
The course recently reopened after a long closure. There’s been tremendous progress. Greens are very good
Strongly recommend for the recreational golfer
Course improving interesting layout
Very payable, fairways a little thin..greens good condition
Disappointing
I had played Turkey Creek many years ago when I lived in the area, and before it had closed. The course has been open since January of this year, and is in rough shape. The greens were rough, bumpy, and slow. The fairways weren't much better. I lost two golf balls in weeds that could not have been more than six feet from the fairway. The worst part of playing here was the pace of play. I was paired with a couple of guys who were beginners, but nice fellas. As a threesome, it took FOUR hours and FORTY FIVE minutes to play the round. The threesome in front of us was constantly behind, and many times were only a few yards off the tee with their tee shots. So, it made for a difficult day waiting to play every shot. The only good thing was the weather which was beautiful. Won't be playing here again.
First time at this course! Better conditions than most courses in the area! Greens were green, fairways could use a littl help in some areas but overall great course! We will be back!
