Bridges Golf Course
About
Bridges Golf Course is a municipal, 18-hole course that sits on the northeastern side of Madison, just south of the airport. It’s popular with locals since it’s both affordable and challenging. The layout starts out on low-lying wetlands and then on the back nine it climbs up a ridge along Anderson Avenue. For a championship golf course it’s not particularly long at 6,900 yards from the back tees, but golfers will still face several tricky holes. Players of all skill levels will enjoy Bridges Golf Course for its variety of risk-reward opportunities. It’s not terribly punishing though so beginners can approach it with confidence. In addition to the golf course, Bridges offers a practice facility that includes a driving range and two separate practice greens for chipping and putting.

Bring a lot of balls
I’m an average player who shoots around 100 per round. Even I didn’t bring enough balls. Narrow chewed up fairways and no forgiveness to either side makes most holes a challenge. I personally think it’s not worth the money unless you get a deal. Good luck!
Decent Course
Greens were super soft and rolled pretty true. 1 or 2 greens had a few bare spots but overall they were probably a 9 out of 10. A previous reviewer said the fairways were tight and he was right. If you take the ball too far left or right on most holes, the ball is gone - there is no chipping out and taking your medicine. The course layout was nice and all par 3 were easily reachable. The driving range is definitely worn and sub-standard. Drink cart came around probably 6 or 7 times in 18 holes. Completed the round in just over 3 hours.
Ok but nothing special
Pace of play was rough. Saw plenty of people playing from 2 or 3 tees back from where they should have been. Then searching for balls on every hole. Tight course, good tee shots required. Greens were very good. Decent course, but not sure if I will be back.
Good for everyone
I've golfed The Bridges many times. I always leave with the same feeling. Some fairways are narrow, so you better hit an accurate tee shot (I put my driver away on those holes). A few holes have some good character - elevation changes, dog legs, etc.
Beware of weather. If it has rained recently, a few fairways can be wet (more than most courses, but I've played worse).
Being next to the airport is a bonus if you enjoy watching planes flying overhead taking off, and landing. It's a treat when they scramble the jets.
One of my go to courses
This course has been one of my go to courses for a number of years. One of the things I like about it is there’s not very big hills as I am an older golfer and walk. I also like the golf now app. For the gps. The staff is always friendly and the Friday fish fry’s are outstanding.
Terrible staff ruined experience
Manager in the pro shop tried to impersonate the owner telling us we need to tip the ladies cleaning the carts $20 a piece after making the turn at 7:40pm when he said carts need to be in by 8pm on the phone and again during check in. When asked if he was the owner he stated yes pretty much. I asked again saying your are the owner correct, he changed his tune and said no I’m basically the head manager. Again saying we needed to tip the girls cleaning the carts (due to Covid cleaning guidelines) because we didn’t come in even though it was only 7:40pm.
Smart Play
Played here a few times. The course was in decent shape considering the amount of rain we have had the last couple of days. Greens did not have a lot of break in them and took a couple of holes to dial in. Can be noisy at times being so close to the airport. Although the fighter jets flying over are really amazing.
Will golf here again when it is a little dryer out.
Pandemic Play!
With the times we are in right now there’s not much you can do.. But at least we have Golf! Bridges had a easy, clean and efficient system in place to make it easy for everyone! It was a great time!
Great value
Found the course to be in great shape, staff was friendly considering what we are going thru at present (covid-19) food and drink available. People were well organized. Value was great for conditions we are now in. Tom
Off season
The course was in incredible shape for this time of the year. Greens were a might slow but well cared for. With temps at 50 degrees, it was quite comfortable. I broke my low score for the season on probably my last chance to play this year. Wonderful way to finish. Look forward to playing here in the spring.
We are sorry that happened, he has an unusual sense of humor and did not mean anything but, if it helps he will no longer be working here starting in August
