One of the better public courses in Maryland
Great course layout with a lot of variety over the eighteen holes. Course was in great shape and appears well maintained. Staff was very friendly at check-in and at the turn. One suggestion for improvement would be to have a starter and a few rangers on the course. Overall, I would recommend this course to anyone looking to treat themselves to a quality day on the links with friends.
Great course, terrible pace. 2.5 stars
Course was nice, in pretty good shape, but NO ranger and zero pace of play adhered to on the course. Played a 5.5 hour round thanks to how backed up and mismanaged the tee times were. We went off as a twosome and then a single followed then a threesome. We let the single join us because we were already waiting 15 minutes between shots. At the turn, by the time we got to tee off there were 6 groups behind us waiting. 6! While I enjoyed the course a lot, I will probably never play there again if they don’t get a marshal.
Clarification: We skipped a hole by jumping ahead of the group in front of us and we did not complete the round due to loss of sunlight. The round would have been over 5 hours had we been able to play 18 hence my comment of a 5.5 hour round.
Also: kudos to the staff at Blue Mash for reaching out and owning the issue. I will be giving the course another shot. Like I said, great course just not a great first experience due to pace of play! Hopefully the second time is better!
Hi, I'm very sorry about the trouble on your round Saturday. Your group played at 4:40 pm. According to our GPS Pace Management Tracking, your round finished in four hours and 27 minutes, but included a long wait at the turn. This is unacceptable and we are very, very sorry. We take pace of play very seriously, as we know how important it is to the enjoyment of the round. Our sincerest apologies
Great course
Love this golf course, play here often. It's a good challenging course, great for beginners and for long time players!
Blue Mash
First time playing course. Loved the layout. Even though we played in wet and windy conditions course was in excellent condition.
One of the absolute best in the DC Metro area
This review covers the numerous times I’ve practiced and played at Blue Mash. They have the best practice area I’ve experienced in the area. That includes a huge grass range and a great chipping green area w/ bunkers and available balls (chipping area is free) and a large putting green (all maintained at course conditions). The course itself is tremendous! Diverse in it’s difficulty, layout and aesthetic over the course of all 18 holes, the binding element is the pristine condition. No matter what weather trend we’re enduring, Blue Mash is always in great shape. Peak fees are a little high so I try to go out off peak. I’ve been playing public courses in the area for 20 years and, right now, this may not be the best “value“ but it is hands down the best course.
Wow, what a great review - thanks so much!
Love playing Blue Mash
I would highly recommend blue mash to anyone in the Washington DC area. I often stop by to play when visiting the area. It’s always in really good shape, the driving range never closes, and it is a fun place to walk if you have the time. It has an interesting layout because the front offers more of a links style while the back nine has more trees that are in play. The first three holes will get your attention immediately.
Thank you for recommending Blue Mash!
Beautiful day, great course, super shape. Look forward to playing there again.
Wow - we are so glad you enjoyed it! Thank you!
Great layout but the pace of play on the back 9 was terrible and no marshals to speed it up. Left with 4 holes to play.
Hi , we are very sorry about the back nine pace of play on Saturday. With the morning frost delay, there were more groups on the course than normal. The front nine was fast - not sure why the back nine got slow.
Great course, lots of variety, grass driving range
Nice layout, wide open on the front, some woods and water on the back. Greens and tee boxes in great condition.
Thank you for the nice review - we are glad you enjoyed your day!
Great course, fun layout
All grass tees on driving range, included range balls, course in great condition. Nice open layout on front, some trees and water on back. Only slight issue was that business was so slow during the day that it was basically self serve.... No starter, beer cart, or prepared food and no bottled water. Good signs on course made it easy to find my way around the course the first time.
Thank you - and we will make sure the staff is more available to you in the future!
