The North Course is as different as can be from its sister, offering a tighter, more traditional layout. The greens are known locally for their speed, but it is the Elm trees -- some standing as tall as 50 feet -- that are likely to capture the attention of the first-time Prescott golfer.

Nice course

Booked to get out of the heat of Phoenix, weather was awesome. The course was very crowded and play was very slow. Course is like a midwest course that is fairly easy to play. I would play again.

Really really going downhill

I have played this course over the last 25 years. Sometimes it was in great shape others not so much. I played it 4/25/2020 and it was in really bad shape unless you like US Open rough. I was playing with a couple that could not always keep their ball on the fairway and if any of us hit into the rough it was all over if you could even find your ball in the three to four-inch rough you were lucky. Then if you did and hit it out of the rough the ball did not go anywhere this is sticky fescue grass and very thick. There are also places in the fairway here and there with patches of dirt. I saw several places where they had water leaks that have been leaking a long time and created a "swamp" in the area. The greens had not been mowed in a few days very fuzzy and SLOW. They did not have but one cart person for both north and south course seen her once on a 85-degree day. They had no ranger so people are joining up into fivesomes going back to replay holes it was a mess. I get it we are in a pandemic things are not perfect but then why do you charge full price for half the service and golf experience. But I have seen this course this way many times before.

Super staff .... Great Day

First time on the course .... Course was in nice shape .... not a lot of sand traps but were in good condition ... greens small and somewhat fast .... pretty standard course up and back ... overall the course was long for ladies ... north course does not conveniently come back to the clubhouse after 9

GolfPass not connected to reservation Desk?

Course was overbooked and wait at its tee was 30-45 minutes past tee time. Appears that Golf pass is not synced with the actual reservation desk so supposed tee time, booked and paid for. was not actually available. I really like Antelope Hills, both 18 hole courses, north and south, and play it several times a week during the season. This was the first time I have used GolfPass and am not impressed at all. Will stick to calling the reservation desk direct.

Course was ok.

We got there 30 minutes early. Got a small bucket of balls. Asked pro shop if they were on time. They said yes. They neglected to say they had a frost delay and were about a half hour behind. Also apparently they had a skins match that extra people showed up and they let go off, which delayed our start. No starter at first tee so it was a mess. Pro shop had no clue what was going on or an answer. Needless to say I will make sure my tee times are before skins match from now on.

Great conditions for a public course!

While it was a little expensive for afternoon golf ($45) the course was in great shape and the pace of play was very good too. This is one of my favorite public courses in the state!

Many holes were very similar - North Course

Fairway grass was long as they've had a lot of rain in recent days, but that is not the course's fault. Rough was very thick and long, too.. Greens were in great shape ... we were 'rained out' after 14 holes but had a fun day. Shortest set of tees plays 6000 yards .... it would be helpful, I think, to have a shorter set cut out of the rough up near where the rough meets the start of the manacured fairways.

Great course

The South course was closed so we played the North course. The staff was super friendly and welcoming. We both walked the course, we loved the traditional course design, very old school with the holes close together, tree lined fairways, and some nice subtle doglegs. I carried my clubs while my wife used her push cart, good walking course as the course was pretty flat (some small elevation changes but not too severe). The course conditions were very good, the bunkers were well maintained, fairways cut perfectly with negligible bare areas, and the greens rolled nicely. I played from the Gold Tees (6551 yards) and my wife played from the Red Tees (6006 yards). Long par 4’s made it tough but we played the holes no worse or better than shorter par 4’s. We would play the North course again and hopefully we can also try the South course to compare the two tracks.

Old School style and great condition.

Played a few days after hundreds played in the father and son tournament, you could not tell the course had that much use. Fairways and greens were in really nice shape. Love the trees lining all the fairways and the good views. Play was a little slow this time but good the last time. Green Fee is a bargain for the north course.

Love the North Course

I’d forgotten how much I really enjoy playing this course. It’s in fabulous condition right now. I’ve never seen it better. The North Course is lined with gorgeous, mature trees.

It plays nice and long, so as a women, it’s a nice challenge to par or even play consistent bogey golf, but I love pushing myself.

The pro shop staff and wait staff are very friendly and accommodating.

I’d recommend this course to anyone.

This was our first time playing this course and we found it a little challenging but alot of fun! The pace was perfect and the layout pretty good. The weather was beautiful but windy which made for a more challenging play. Definitely recommend this course!

Antelope Hills - North Course in Prescott, AZ

Old school golf is still a thrill: 6,800 from the tips, tree lined fairways, healthy rough, the ability to move a ball in both directions... and small, back- to front-canted greens that absolutely scream, "Don't get above the hole!!" If this sounds like golf you know and love, then the North Course at Antelope Hills is one you will want to play.

From the East Coast to the West, golf courses like these are the lifeblood of the game throughout small town America. They trade on the design features of Donald Ross, A. W. Tillinghast, Willie Park Jr. and Perry Maxwell. The tests are generally solid, with many good holes, some of which could even be called great. Lawrence Hughes designed this traditional track which opened in 1956. He authored Paradise Valley Country Club, as well as the venerable Palm Springs membership-driven La Quinta Country Club, a pair of great SouthWestern parkland style courses.

Sloping at 129 from the back tees (6844), the course is still strong even at 6551, where the slope only drops to 126. All three par fives are good holes - reachable if you have your drive in the fairway. The par fours are mixed well - as short as a downhill opening hole of 374, to the uphill 459 yard ninth. The same with the par threes - two are midrange, coming in at 160 to 170. But you have a shorty at 132 for the 16th and a fantastic lengthy 228 yarder at number 14 - an elevated tee shot over a valley to an upraised green makes for an ALL WORLD three par.

If you have not made the trip to play in Prescott, the summer is nigh upon us and you'll enjoy the respite from the Valley heat. And there is more golf to be had once you are there: The Antelope Hills South Course is a Gary Panks designed track that is almost as good as the North. Prescott Country Club is a worthy place to tee it up, too. On the private end you have Prescott Lakes (Hale Irwin design), Capital Canyon Club (formerly Hassayampa CC from Tom Weiskopf) and Talking Rock Golf Club (by Jay Morrish). And finally, there is Randy Heckenkemper's foray into golf, StoneRidge.Think of a three dimensional chess board with an industrial wind machine blowing, having dropped a tab or two of Hunter S. Thompson's favorite PED... uhhh, you get the picture ;)
