Broad Run Golfer's Club
About
Designed by Rees Jones, Broad Run Golfer's Club boasts one of the best layouts in the area. The course sprawls across over 370 acres of rolling hills countryside. The dramatic elevations are definitely not something you would expect from a golf course that is conveniently situated so close to downtown Philadelphia. The elevated tees feel as though they're in the clouds and mature trees frame most of the holes. There are hazards lurking throughout the golf course including swampy marshlands and tall, dense grasses that are all just waiting to swallow errant shots. It is a challenging layout no doubt but it is made more player friendly with generous fairways and Jones was also light on the bunkering. One of the most difficult and scenic holes is the par-5 15th. This hole plays uphill, featuring a blind tee shot to a plateau green surrounded by trees.

Referred by someone on Easter Sunday at The Golden Pheasant golf course
I was in very pleased at this picturesque course , every hole is beautiful ! Absolutely no chance of getting hit by someone's ball , or hitting someone , because all the tee boxes are far from the previous green ! One thing to note is there is a lot of walking , due to the cavernous greens. Which I didn't mind at all , due to the fact that I need the exercise ! There is elevation changes all over the course ! I would play here every week if it wasn't an hour and a half away !!!!!!! And to cap it off , I had one of the best bloody Mary's after my 3 hour round !!!!!!!
Sweet Surprise
We were told on several other golf outings by others to try Broad Run. It’s a half hour drive for us, which isn’t too bad. Once we got there we were pleasantly surprised! This place is daunting at first, as it plays like a mountain course. We absolutely loved the lay out. Staff were friendly and personable and thanked us for our business no less than 5 times. Greens had been recently aerated, but once that fills in we will definitely be back!
Aerated but otherwise in great shape!
Course is in GREAT shape!! The had just aerated but we knew that going in so other than the greens the course was amazing.
Not A Walking Course
Not only is this a hilly course, the distance from green to tee is long (supposedly 1 mile from the18th green to the clubhouse). There are some very interesting holes and the course was in good condition. The greens were moderately fast and rolled true.
The driving range is into the side of a hill, and is only good for loosing up. The senior rate of $59 is too high, and consequently the course was fairly empty.
No flat lies.
Hills, hills and more hills. Beautiful course with a wide variety of holes. Not for the faint of heart. If you love nature and wildlife and being outdoors enjoying the beauty around you, this is the place.
disappointed
I had known about this course and had seen numerous promotions on TV and remember playing it once before a number of years ago. On this day there was a group in front of us that was slow and no on course personnel to help. It was a very long frustrating day seeing open holes and not being able to get into a rhythm on a Friday morning. I liked the design of the golf holes but the set up for carts was very awkward and I can't imagine how any seniors can play the course. Also the course is so big that walking it is nearly impossible for all but the younger well fit players. Lots of hills used well in design and greens were deceiving trying to read breaks. As I said, I liked the golf holes themselves but overall it was not a positive experience. Don't think I will go back based on what happened today.
Fun course but SLOW
Played Broad Run on Saturday and the course is great. It's very hilly and you get to do some fun shots over ravines and off moutain tops. The pace of play however is really slow. There is no starter and no one keeping things moving in terms of pace pf play. There is also no beverage cart and the snacks at the turn are nothing special.
Great layout, great course
Broad run is like yoga for golfer. The elevation puts your mind at peace. Course was in good condition. Only minor complaint would be the pace of play. There was a foursome in front of us with a handicap cart and they were slow. Would have been nice to see a ranger speak with them to keep pace. Otherwise, great round!
Awesome and Challenging Course
Broad Run is a very unique course in that you feel like you're playing on the sides of a mountain. Some holes are straight uphill all the way, others have valleys with long drop-offs. Each hole is very unique and challenging in its own way. The greens aren't impossibly but they will test even a good putter.
I was very impressed with Broad Run, with everything from the friendly and professional staff (who helped a first time player at the course feel very welcome) to the great conditions to the exceptional views of the surrounding area. The only problem was the pace of play (4:45), which can partially be attributed to the length and difficulty of the course.
It may be challenging, but Broad Run is one of the most scenic and unique courses in the area.
WARNING: Do not walk this course.
Ha! I actually walked the front 9 till one of my playing partners ran into my pushcart & broke it! Yeah, definitely would not recommend walking because even if you're a world-class athlete you'll hold up your group.
Great Shape
The course is in GREAT shape. With leaves starting to change color, the course is beautiful this time of year. It it very hilly and offers several risk/reward opportunities. Highly recommended.
This is a Must play!
one of my favorites in the country! If you haven't gotten to this gem I would definitely make the opportunity especially before more houses go up. right now the course might be in the best shape I've ever seen it in! Except for a couple of the bunkers that had hardly any sand in them!
Top Notch Golf
I had a chance to play this on a GolfNow special for 51$. Took me 45 minutes to drive there. My brothers and I have never played there. They do not play as well and do not necessarily have the most mainstream golf attire or equipment. The staff was extremely friendly to all of us and gave us great servie. Layout was a little different, it is not a walkers course, and you do not see the clubhouse very often once you tee off. There was construction near the course, but it did not interfere with the course conditions or pace of play. The course plays difficult. However, if you can control your tee shots, it will be a very pleasurable round of golf. Fairways were in extremely great shape, tee boxes were flat, and greens rolled perfectly with a good amount of speed. There were plenty of elevation changes, a few blind shots, and plenty of forced carries. It kept you entertained the entire round and was very very scenic.
Challenging Course, Fun Course
Really enjoyed play on this course. Course conditions were excellent. Clubhouse staff and starters were very helpful. Definitely will play again
Pace of play on a open in golf course in front of the group in front of us made for a negative experience as much as I tried to enjoy the golf course itself. Glad to hear someone else has same opinion.
