Soldiers Creek Golf Club
About
The course at Soldiers Creek Golf Club was designed by Scott Clark, a former Golf Course Superintendent at The Grand Hotel in Point Clear Alabama and the current Superintendent at The Peninsula Golf Club in Gulf Shores Alabama. While this is Scott's first attempt in playing the role of a course architect, it also reveals his depth of experience in the golf course industry. The design goals of building a course that would be enjoyable for high handicappers as well as low handicappers was met in this design.
The course features wide player-friendly fairways. Also, water comes into play on only two holes which makes navigating this course easier for high handicappers. A large natural turf driving range and 10,000 square foot practice green is available as a warm-up or practice area.
Soldiers Creek Golf Club is owned by the Norman Woerner family. Norman is a member of the Woerner Turf family of sod producers. Woerner Turf is a world-wide leader in turf production. The company provides turf for many golf courses ranging from Augusta National to new courses in Hong Kong. They also supply the turf for the NFL Super Bowl and the NFL Pro Bowl in Hawaii.
Southern Turf Nurseries provided the Tif Eagle for Soldiers Creek Golf Club. This turf grass is considered by many to be the best-of-the-best turf for southern golf course greens. The fairways and roughs are Tif 419, a dense-growing emerald-colored grass that's perfect for plush fairways. The greens feature Tif Eagle, the newest and best-of-the-best southern turf grass for golf course greens. An increasingly popular choice for new golf courses and redesigns, this turf permits a closer cut, thus allowing for smoother, faster greens.
Located only several miles from Alabama's sun-kissed Gulf Coast, this new 18 hole championship course is part of the Woerner Preserve Resort. Our friendly staff welcomes you to play the newest course on the Gulf Coast. Yes, we are now open. Come spend some time with family or friends. Relax and enjoy a round of golf in this natural setting.
DIRECTIONS: From I-10, take exit 44 (Gulf Shores Pkwy/Hwy 59 South). Travel south on Hwy 59 for approx. 18 miles. Turn left onto Hwy 98 (at light in Foley). Travel approx. 10 miles to Co. Rd 95. Turn right and go 1 ½ mile. Course is on the left.

If you are in the area, this is a Must Play course
Even with some wet conditions from lots of rain in the area, the course was in great condition. Greens are outstanding!! A rolling course with tree lined fairways that did not disappoint. I will play here again next year when back in Orange Beach.
A bit pricey for this type of course Not really a good value
Pace of play was excellent. Apparently only 3-4 groups were on the course that morning-general condition of the course was good & playable
Just Okay
This was the first time I had ever played this course. When we booked, we set a tee time up for 8:45, but didn’t get to actually tee off until 9:05. There was a backlog of people at the first tee. A course Marshall would have been helpful I believe. Practice facilities were good. The club house was definitely not something that I expected when paying 60+ dollars to play. The course for the most part was in good shape, but around the greens, it was a giant mud puddle. We’ve had rain one day in a month. It was weird.
Nice fun course, needs some tlc or just time.
Love the layout and the secluded location. The perimeter of many greens were diseased or dead but the heart of the greens and around the pins were fine. Many tee-boxes were in desperate need of grass as well. There was a crew working on the grounds on Sunday so that was promising. It plays short from the white tees so it helps the higher handicap golfers. There is no beverage cart but they do have water tanks out along the course. Also, if you want to hit range balls before you play you need to play early. Once they use up all the range balls they don't recollect them for the afternoon players to use. I would play there again.
Decent shape, love the layout
Course was in decent shape. Just about all of the greens had some deterioration around the perimeter. Tee boxes and fairways were good. Rough was too high just off the fairways and greens, probably 4" thick. The white tees play very short so is good for the higher handicap player. If you are less than a 20 play from the blues. It is a fun course and I will go back.
Everything was great. Just wish the had a few more restrooms on the course
Downhill
We vacation on the gulf just about every year. I’ve played here on each trip for the last 12 years. It used to be amazing. It’s gone downhill over the years. Yet the price has stayed the same. For this price you can play better courses in the area. One thing it does have going for it is that you have the place to yourself. You can work on your game or bring new golfers. The last couple of years it’s been almost empty on the weekdays.
Golf now
They don’t associate with Golf now. I did my tee time through Golf Now. I showed up for my tee time and they said they don’t deal with Golf Now. I paid golf now $12 for service charge and won’t refund my money. So just go through Soldiers creek website.
Don’t go through Golf Now for this course.
They had no record of my tee time. Golf now charged me $12 for a service that I didn’t get. Please refund my $12. Thank you. Barry Scherr
Not worth the price
If you've ever wondered what it would look like to turn a cow pasture into a golf course, look no further! The rough had to be at least 8 inches deep, The greens were horrible, and we were also lucky enough to catch them on mowing day, which meant we had no tee boxes on any of the holes. Also, good luck trying to find a ball in the middle of the fairway, it'll probably be hidden by the dead cut grass laying throughout. For the price, you're better off playing somewhere else.
Great scenery, Course Needs work
Club house is a dump.
Greens are trash
The rest was great
