Soldiers Creek Golf Club
About
The course at Soldiers Creek Golf Club was designed by Scott Clark, a former Golf Course Superintendent at The Grand Hotel in Point Clear Alabama and the current Superintendent at The Peninsula Golf Club in Gulf Shores Alabama. While this is Scott's first attempt in playing the role of a course architect, it also reveals his depth of experience in the golf course industry. The design goals of building a course that would be enjoyable for high handicappers as well as low handicappers was met in this design.
The course features wide player-friendly fairways. Also, water comes into play on only two holes which makes navigating this course easier for high handicappers. A large natural turf driving range and 10,000 square foot practice green is available as a warm-up or practice area.
Soldiers Creek Golf Club is owned by the Norman Woerner family. Norman is a member of the Woerner Turf family of sod producers. Woerner Turf is a world-wide leader in turf production. The company provides turf for many golf courses ranging from Augusta National to new courses in Hong Kong. They also supply the turf for the NFL Super Bowl and the NFL Pro Bowl in Hawaii.
Southern Turf Nurseries provided the Tif Eagle for Soldiers Creek Golf Club. This turf grass is considered by many to be the best-of-the-best turf for southern golf course greens. The fairways and roughs are Tif 419, a dense-growing emerald-colored grass that's perfect for plush fairways. The greens feature Tif Eagle, the newest and best-of-the-best southern turf grass for golf course greens. An increasingly popular choice for new golf courses and redesigns, this turf permits a closer cut, thus allowing for smoother, faster greens.
Located only several miles from Alabama's sun-kissed Gulf Coast, this new 18 hole championship course is part of the Woerner Preserve Resort. Our friendly staff welcomes you to play the newest course on the Gulf Coast. Yes, we are now open. Come spend some time with family or friends. Relax and enjoy a round of golf in this natural setting.

Pretty course. Very forgiving.
Staff was friendly and made us feel welcome. Course was in good shape. A couple of greens need some work, but we had a great time.
Solid layout could be better with some money but what course isn't?
I played Soldier Creek and TimberCreek on my recent trip this past week. I would recommend Soldier Creek over Timbercreek. The layout is better and the condition is better also. Timbercreek greens are rough. Soldier Creek isnt Augusta National either but i found the greens to be much better at Soldier Creek. Both layouts could be drastically improved with an infusion of capital to start with to change over their putting green turf to a better strain of bermuda grass or improve the conditions of the current turf.
Overpriced
I hate to do this. This course is in miserable shape. The greens are longer and worse than putting on the fairway. Weeds everywhere. If you’re a beginner it’s ok at $15-20 a round. Otherwise my advice is to avoid this place.
It's finally improving
This is my 3rd time playing this golf course, and the greens are finally improving, it's not quite there yet, but it's in working progress from a 2 stars rate to 4 stars now.
Yes, I would recommend this golf course to anyone, I think it's worth the drive compare to 2 years ago. Most of all the staff are working hard to please the customers.
Best ball with friends
Nice relaxing game with friends. Pace of play great and the woods made it a very comfortable day with nature. Bring bug spray is my only suggestion. Greens a bit rough on edges,, but overall nice course.
Hidden Gem golf course
I played here today for the 2nd time ever since a year and a half ago (2018 when I first played here), and I would say that this golf course is improving. The greens and fairways are pretty good and looks like they are trying to get this golf course into one of the best golf course in the area...
Challenging
I would like to start with trying to find the course.first few holes had a feeling bad decision, but this changed rather quickly the course conditioning started getting much better. Very challenging holes for the longer hitters . Some greens I hope come back, but I really liked how the greens rolled pretty true.i would recommend, below average golfers bring balls.
Great Course!
The greens were in great condition and the course is just so beautiful. I recommend all my friends to play there.
Nothing changes here
Pay full price. Couldn’t play 2 holes due to maintenance. Was not informed of this at all by staff. Course in bad shape. I’m sick of giving them chances.
Trudy & Steve
Very nice course layout, it was in good shape and staff was very nice play here before and will play again.
Greens
Alot of the greens were very bumpy. Also they had an armadillo infestation....alot of holes/digging on all fairways.
Soldiers Creek
Most of the greens were very bumpy...and alot of armardillo holes on the course. Otherwise a beautiful course!
Course in very poor shape
The greens were terrible, some had "moon" craters on then and tons of weeds. Fairways had little grass. Definately overpriced. No snack bar or cart opened.
poor greens
this is not a course to be played under these conditions. this has been a bad weather for the spring and greens are rather poor. this area has all bad greens except for the Resort courses .
Windy day
Course is always challenging but greens very rough. Fairways a bit bare in some spots as well. Challenging course and looks like they are cutting out trees and fixing up course
