Soldiers Creek Golf Club
About
The course at Soldiers Creek Golf Club was designed by Scott Clark, a former Golf Course Superintendent at The Grand Hotel in Point Clear Alabama and the current Superintendent at The Peninsula Golf Club in Gulf Shores Alabama. While this is Scott's first attempt in playing the role of a course architect, it also reveals his depth of experience in the golf course industry. The design goals of building a course that would be enjoyable for high handicappers as well as low handicappers was met in this design.
The course features wide player-friendly fairways. Also, water comes into play on only two holes which makes navigating this course easier for high handicappers. A large natural turf driving range and 10,000 square foot practice green is available as a warm-up or practice area.
Soldiers Creek Golf Club is owned by the Norman Woerner family. Norman is a member of the Woerner Turf family of sod producers. Woerner Turf is a world-wide leader in turf production. The company provides turf for many golf courses ranging from Augusta National to new courses in Hong Kong. They also supply the turf for the NFL Super Bowl and the NFL Pro Bowl in Hawaii.
Southern Turf Nurseries provided the Tif Eagle for Soldiers Creek Golf Club. This turf grass is considered by many to be the best-of-the-best turf for southern golf course greens. The fairways and roughs are Tif 419, a dense-growing emerald-colored grass that's perfect for plush fairways. The greens feature Tif Eagle, the newest and best-of-the-best southern turf grass for golf course greens. An increasingly popular choice for new golf courses and redesigns, this turf permits a closer cut, thus allowing for smoother, faster greens.
Located only several miles from Alabama's sun-kissed Gulf Coast, this new 18 hole championship course is part of the Woerner Preserve Resort. Our friendly staff welcomes you to play the newest course on the Gulf Coast. Yes, we are now open. Come spend some time with family or friends. Relax and enjoy a round of golf in this natural setting.
DIRECTIONS: From I-10, take exit 44 (Gulf Shores Pkwy/Hwy 59 South). Travel south on Hwy 59 for approx. 18 miles. Turn left onto Hwy 98 (at light in Foley). Travel approx. 10 miles to Co. Rd 95. Turn right and go 1 ½ mile. Course is on the left.

Course in very poor shape
The greens were terrible, some had "moon" craters on then and tons of weeds. Fairways had little grass. Definately overpriced. No snack bar or cart opened.
poor greens
this is not a course to be played under these conditions. this has been a bad weather for the spring and greens are rather poor. this area has all bad greens except for the Resort courses .
Windy day
Course is always challenging but greens very rough. Fairways a bit bare in some spots as well. Challenging course and looks like they are cutting out trees and fixing up course
Good value for the money. Course was empty , yet they still charged me $12.50 for my non golfing wife to ride with me, I can see when it is busy but not when I was playing as a single
Great Course
Wide fairways. Not much water on holes.
challenging length. nice green fairways. Great for the price. Would play again if we had longer time to stay.
Very poor owners
We played several times here. We were to play there today at 11:30. It was. 10:30 at the time. This was on Tuesday February 25. We go out to the starter to give him our receipt, just to let him know we were here, which we do all the time. He said that this guy needs someone to play with. We said sure. No one else around and no tee times before us. The owner comes barreling out there saying our tee time is at 11:40 . Jim, my husband, that starter said we could go with this guy, who was looking for someone to go with. He said he did care, it was his golf course. And we were to go off right at 10:40. Jim said alright we would go at 11:40, But he didn’t hear my husband, because he was yelling that we were to get off the course. This course had only few people on it and was that way all the 4 or 5 times that we had played it. He was mad and said we were there and hour and 45 minutes a head of time. When we checked in the lady said we had an hour and my husband said fine we can putt etc. He kicked us off the course. We have played several times before and we have never caused any trouble and never meant to today. The starter told us to go with this guy. We handed him the receipt and told him our tee time. Hardly anybody on the course. We don’t know why he went off on us like that. I think maybe he doesn’t like gol now. It is my guess. I called golf now, they are supposed to call me back. We would like a refund. We did nothing wrong. The starter knew we had Golfnow, but he just wanted to help the guy out. No body waiting to go off. Please let us get our money refunded!
Just tough enough
Liked the layout grass and greens are a little spotty might be the season
Fun course
This course is worth the price. It has been wet here and most courses are muddy and carpath only. This course holds the water and we were able to use carts. The course is nicely designed, well maintained and in good shape for the season.
Nope
Too many great courses in the area to play one that has more weeds than grass on the greens.
Good Course - needs a ranger
Good course layout - fair and not tricked up. Nice scenery. We sailed around the front 9 only to run into golfers who held up the entire back nine. We had one group in front of us who were: unaware of where to park a cart, unable to know where their ball was in the fairway, unable to play ready golf (only one person out of a cart at a time), and poor golfers to boot. When they did move, they were surprisingly held up by a similar group in front of them. The rest of us got to wait as we piled up behind them. At one point we had 4 groups on a 350 yd. par 4. Good thing it was a beautiful day .
Worth the drive from the beach
Played a few different courses in the Gulf Shores area and was pleasantly surprised by the condition of Soldiers Creek. While it has been a wet Winter this course drained well.staff was friendly and felt like we had the entire course to ourselves . Will definitely play this course again.
DDS
First time to play course in 4 years and was disappointed that the greens condition and also around the greens were not acceptable. Bare spots on the greens and around the greens. Bunker condition very poor not maintained. Will not play again until conditions are corrected. It’s sad to see this golf course go down it was a great venue.
Not much
I have played here 4-6 times, and keep hoping it will improve. Course is iff the beaten path, but close to our family home in Josephine.
Fairways are very wide and generally in good shape, as I would expect from. a turf farming family ownership.
Greens are generally slow and spotty, esp around fringe area.
Soldier Creek is nowhere to be found and layout is very straightforward with only 3 or 4 interesting holes.
Easy to get on, VERY basic clubhouse, and too expensive for what course offers.
If you want a quick and eady round, this may be for you.
Friendly/helpful staff - greens need some work
Very helpful and friendly staff at Soldier's Creek. A solid course for the price. Some of the fairways and greens need some work, but the staff has informed me that they are addressing them. The course handled significant rain better than other courses in the area and was a fun course to play.
