Soldiers Creek Golf Club
About
The course at Soldiers Creek Golf Club was designed by Scott Clark, a former Golf Course Superintendent at The Grand Hotel in Point Clear Alabama and the current Superintendent at The Peninsula Golf Club in Gulf Shores Alabama. While this is Scott's first attempt in playing the role of a course architect, it also reveals his depth of experience in the golf course industry. The design goals of building a course that would be enjoyable for high handicappers as well as low handicappers was met in this design.
The course features wide player-friendly fairways. Also, water comes into play on only two holes which makes navigating this course easier for high handicappers. A large natural turf driving range and 10,000 square foot practice green is available as a warm-up or practice area.
Soldiers Creek Golf Club is owned by the Norman Woerner family. Norman is a member of the Woerner Turf family of sod producers. Woerner Turf is a world-wide leader in turf production. The company provides turf for many golf courses ranging from Augusta National to new courses in Hong Kong. They also supply the turf for the NFL Super Bowl and the NFL Pro Bowl in Hawaii.
Southern Turf Nurseries provided the Tif Eagle for Soldiers Creek Golf Club. This turf grass is considered by many to be the best-of-the-best turf for southern golf course greens. The fairways and roughs are Tif 419, a dense-growing emerald-colored grass that's perfect for plush fairways. The greens feature Tif Eagle, the newest and best-of-the-best southern turf grass for golf course greens. An increasingly popular choice for new golf courses and redesigns, this turf permits a closer cut, thus allowing for smoother, faster greens.
Located only several miles from Alabama's sun-kissed Gulf Coast, this new 18 hole championship course is part of the Woerner Preserve Resort. Our friendly staff welcomes you to play the newest course on the Gulf Coast. Yes, we are now open. Come spend some time with family or friends. Relax and enjoy a round of golf in this natural setting.
DIRECTIONS: From I-10, take exit 44 (Gulf Shores Pkwy/Hwy 59 South). Travel south on Hwy 59 for approx. 18 miles. Turn left onto Hwy 98 (at light in Foley). Travel approx. 10 miles to Co. Rd 95. Turn right and go 1 ½ mile. Course is on the left.

Price Difference
We booked the 4 player promotion for $120 plus taxes and convenience fees of $9.96 for a total of $129.96. When we arrived at the course we were told there were additional fees bringing the total to $142. I have never been charged additional taxes or fees before but paid them anyway just to avoid making a scene and ruining an otherwise nice day with my golf buddies.
Dead grass
Despite the recent rains the grass was brown and short. The ball was never sitting up for a clean hit. There was a few low spots on the course where the grass was green but they were very muddy. On the upside the greens were true.
MUST PLAY
PLAYED THIS COURSE A FEW TIMES. IT IS A "MUST PLAY". THE COURSE WAS VERY WET WHEN WE PLAYED, BUT STILL ENJOYABLE.
No hazard stakes no value
At 44.00 this course has little value against others in area. None Of THE Water Hazards Were Marked WITH Red Or Yellow stakes. So it's stroke and distance? We entry men's at turn and got jumped. Pace was slow even with an army of men playing from reds. No ranger. Poor conditions.
Very quiet enjoyable round
Great Saturday afternoon round with my favorite partner wife. Greens were great, had course to ourselves.
Well worth playing
We play this course four times a year when we get in Ala (two trips). Stay in the fairway, wide fairways, as the rough will penalize you. The greens are amazing. Fast, true, and in excellent shape. Nice fast golf carts.
Great Greens!!!
Great layout! Amazing Greens. Highly recommend!!!!
Very good value
A little out of the way worth the trip though. We enjoyed the views on and around the course. The course lays out well. It is difficult enough for an intermediate level golfer. Yet lays out as not to frustrate a beginner.
Golfer Fun
Stay out of the rough it is not fun. Overall a good course.
wvacation
Played here 3 times in 3 days. Loved the course. No houses or subdivision around course My son and I played. 17 miles from our condo in Perdido Key.
This course has been neglected since I had last played here.
I used to look forward to playing this course every time we came to the beach for vacation. Unfortunately that is not true anymore. What a shame, this used to be the premier hidden jewell on the Alabama coast but no more. Crab grass in fairways, bunkers over taken by weeds and bushes, tee boxes in poor condition just to mention a few things. Will not be back and will tell all my friends to stay away. How unfortunate. Horefully these comments will inspire the owners to improve the course back to the condition it once was.
turnaround
Received an email from the course a couple of weeks ago to come out again and play a round again because the last time I played there they just aerated the greens and no one said anything about it. Let me tell you that the greens are in great shape and the course looks completely different. The bunkers had maintenance done on them and looks like they are cutting the brush back away. Will be coming again soon to play this course. It was a good day on the course.
Very pleased and can't wait to go back
The owner was very friendly. The course was in great shape and the golf carts seemed brand new. Worth every penny!
Not worth the drive
Course was neglected badly. The fairways needed cut and tee box was like hitting out of the rough. There was also no aeration alert, as they had been punched recently and real bumpy.
The good thing was the course was fairly empty and the round only lasted about 2.5 hours.
Thank you for playing Soldier's Creek. We notify golfers for a week after the greens have been aerated. Hope to see you again.
Not a good time to play
First of all, they course should tell you that the greens had just been aerated before you pay to play. Putts looked like a pinball machine, bouncing left and right. The fairways looked as if they had not been mowed in a week. Guessing due to rain. Great layout though. Just not as I remember it being several years back when it was a really nice course. Will probably give it another try down the road.
Thank you for playing Soldier's Creek. We are sorry that you were not told the greens were aerated. Hope to see you at the course again!
so so condition
Looks like they just aerated the greens not too long a go. They were bumpy but punted ok. The bunkers were not in the best of shape either.
Thank you for you review. We are sorry that the greens were recently aerified. Come see us again when the green are back in shape.
Great Hidden Gem
Rain has kept fairways from premium manicuring and greens verticut or would be five stars easily. Absolutely love it and would like to see 150 yard confidence markers added. There are 100 in plain sight. Will return again and again!
Thank you for playing Soldier's Creek! We are glad that you enjoyed the course. See you soon!
Amazing Course!
Beautiful scenery, well maintained turf, and an amazing experience. I will definitely be back. One of the best in Mobile/Baldwin County.
Thank you for playing Soldier's Creek! We are glad that you enjoyed the golf course. See you soon!
Outing at soldier creek
We enjoyed our time there. It was a family outing and we had some new golfers. There was not a problem there. The bugs were a little irritating but I think that is the way it is in the south.
Thank you for playing Soldier's Creek! We are glad that you were able to take the family out and enjoy the course. Come back and see us!
Two of us are down here playing for two months. This course was in very poor shape
Value was low compared to others in area. None of the water hazards were marked with red or yellow stakes? Stroke and distance? I would not return for free let alone 44.00.
