Soldiers Creek Golf Club
About
The course at Soldiers Creek Golf Club was designed by Scott Clark, a former Golf Course Superintendent at The Grand Hotel in Point Clear Alabama and the current Superintendent at The Peninsula Golf Club in Gulf Shores Alabama. While this is Scott's first attempt in playing the role of a course architect, it also reveals his depth of experience in the golf course industry. The design goals of building a course that would be enjoyable for high handicappers as well as low handicappers was met in this design.
The course features wide player-friendly fairways. Also, water comes into play on only two holes which makes navigating this course easier for high handicappers. A large natural turf driving range and 10,000 square foot practice green is available as a warm-up or practice area.
Soldiers Creek Golf Club is owned by the Norman Woerner family. Norman is a member of the Woerner Turf family of sod producers. Woerner Turf is a world-wide leader in turf production. The company provides turf for many golf courses ranging from Augusta National to new courses in Hong Kong. They also supply the turf for the NFL Super Bowl and the NFL Pro Bowl in Hawaii.
Southern Turf Nurseries provided the Tif Eagle for Soldiers Creek Golf Club. This turf grass is considered by many to be the best-of-the-best turf for southern golf course greens. The fairways and roughs are Tif 419, a dense-growing emerald-colored grass that's perfect for plush fairways. The greens feature Tif Eagle, the newest and best-of-the-best southern turf grass for golf course greens. An increasingly popular choice for new golf courses and redesigns, this turf permits a closer cut, thus allowing for smoother, faster greens.
Located only several miles from Alabama's sun-kissed Gulf Coast, this new 18 hole championship course is part of the Woerner Preserve Resort. Our friendly staff welcomes you to play the newest course on the Gulf Coast. Yes, we are now open. Come spend some time with family or friends. Relax and enjoy a round of golf in this natural setting.
DIRECTIONS: From I-10, take exit 44 (Gulf Shores Pkwy/Hwy 59 South). Travel south on Hwy 59 for approx. 18 miles. Turn left onto Hwy 98 (at light in Foley). Travel approx. 10 miles to Co. Rd 95. Turn right and go 1 ½ mile. Course is on the left.

Soldiers Creek
Played during the week on a very hot summer day. Greens were near perfect, fairways were lush and pace of play was outstanding.
Staff was exceptionally friendly too.
Only negative was the heat and some gnats that buzzed around a bit.
The GolfNow deal on this courses was awesome too! Played for $16.00 each. Cannot beat that price for a course in this good of condition.
Rip off
Booked time for around 8:30 seemed fine when we got there but parking was a little empty I thought I soon found out why we were only able to play 7 holes on the front 9 because the knats were so thick it was like nothing I've ever had to deal with before so we drove back to the club house and I explained what the situation was and asked simply for a refund for 9 holes not only would they not I believe they knew how the conditions were out on the course before we showed up they wanted cut me a rain check but acted even reluctant to do that since it wasn't raining the mgr solution was to hand me a can of cutter and say this is what a lot of our players use that's ridiculous I said and explained we were from out of town and a rain check would do me no good but these swindlers wouldn't budge or try to even work something out at all they just knew they already had our $$ and we were stuck in a bad situation so if I was going to gulf shores stay from this tourist trap
Thank you for your review. We try to accommodate every golfer’s request, but we have certain policies and procedures that we have to follow. We take pride in the quality of our course and will look into your concerns. We appreciate your feedback and are sorry that we were only able to give you a rain check.
Fun course to play
The course was very fun to play. Greens were in great shape, as was the rest of the course. The staff was very nice and made sure we knew where the practice green and range were at. Can't wait for our family trip again next summer to come back and play here again!
Thank you so much for your review and playing Soldier's Creek! We take pride in our course conditions and are glad that you thought the course was in great shape. See you next summer!
I really liked this course
Course was set up nice for an average player like myself. Greens had some weeds in then but greens we nice other than hole 1. Speed of the greens on the slower end. Overall I really liked the course and will be back.
Memorial Weekend Vacation
The course has a good layout. Memorial Day weekend did not have a lot of play probably due to the inconsistent weather pattern.
Great layout
The course is located in the middle of nowhere. I thought it had a great layout and was in good condition. I started as a single and joined up with a twosome at the turn. We were held up by several foursomes playing slower than normal. The course has no Marshal so you must be patient to play here. I paid the super special rate of $36 and thought it was a fair deal.
Get the GolfNow HotDeal
Played this course as a single, played from the tips, finished in 2:45. Grass on some tee boxes was scant. Greens, however, rolled true - not too fast but not slow, either. Certainly some of the best greens in the area (there was a problem with the right quadrant of the first green, but the others were very good). Fairways were firm and fast. Got lots of roll out on drives that found the fairway. Overall it was a fun course to play, but certainly not difficult. I'm a 5.6 index and shot 78. I purchased the GolfNow HotDeal for an afternoon tee time. Total cost was about $40. As a budget-conscious golfer, that's about as much as I would pay to play here, but I would recommend visitors to the area give this course a chance. Great pace of play and an extremely friendly staff.
Worth the Money?
This is a nice course, but for almost $60 ($54 +tax) I've played better. We enjoyed ourselves, and the layout was nice, but we would have felt better paying around $45. Yes, I'm a senior.
# 15 tricky don't go to the right or it will go out of bounds on 2nd shot
Always a pleasure to play there but is a little expensive for the value unless you can get a deal.
Great Golf experience
Nice challenging golf course. Staff was very friendly and accomodating.Look forward to coming back and playing this course again.
Totally Disappointing
I had a set tee time, but they weren't ready for me. They hurried me off the back 9 with a twosome who had already played the front 9. When we came around to1, there was a huge backlog and I left. I mentioned this to the manager at the clubhouse and they were very rude. They treated like an annoyance, just because I was a single.
Great experience
Challenging, but fair. Greens in great shape. Played in January.
bamagirl
We love this golf course but our game yesterday was ridiculous. It took us almost five hours to play this course when it usually takes three or less. It seems they need to hire a few Marshalls to tell people that want to take over fifteen to twenty minutes to play a hole to let the people play through that are backed up behind them. Won't be playing this course anytime soon and I hate it because it is a great course just rude people playing there now and no one to monitor the situation.
Enjoyable course to play; user friendly.
Course has a rustic setting, however, it is a player friendly course. Hit straight and stay out of the woods.
Great course
This course is nice. It is a wide open course, no houses. Course was in great shape for this time of year. Some of the best greens around. They are fast. Staff was friendly. Weather wasn't the best the day we played, but we had the course to ourselves. This is a great course for the money and I will definitely play it again soon.
Nice golf course for the money
Golf course was in excellent shape, greens were fast. The course very playable for all handicaps.
Great course
I met up with a friend that lives in the area and found this course via Golfnow.com. This is a beautiful course and was in great condition. Carts were well kept and new. The Club house is a little deceiving as it is a small modular type building but was clean and functional. I would definitely play the course again if I'm in the area. The value was in line with surrounding courses but I was in hopes to find a little better bargain off season through the week. Overall a good experience.
Good course
Challenging course enjoyed playing it. The fairways needed some attention on some holes. They had a spreader there possibly taking care of it but not sure. Will definitely play this course again.
Nice course
I have played this course several times and like the layout. It is in a relatively remote location but worth the drive. The club house and facilities leave a lot to be desired but they're okay.
The one thing I do not like is the amount that they charge for a non-playing rider. In this case I had to pay more for the rider that the cost of my round of golf!
Thank you for playing Soldier's Creek! We are glad that you enjoyed your round and thought the course was in great shape. Please come see us again!
