Soldiers Creek Golf Club
About
The course at Soldiers Creek Golf Club was designed by Scott Clark, a former Golf Course Superintendent at The Grand Hotel in Point Clear Alabama and the current Superintendent at The Peninsula Golf Club in Gulf Shores Alabama. While this is Scott's first attempt in playing the role of a course architect, it also reveals his depth of experience in the golf course industry. The design goals of building a course that would be enjoyable for high handicappers as well as low handicappers was met in this design.
The course features wide player-friendly fairways. Also, water comes into play on only two holes which makes navigating this course easier for high handicappers. A large natural turf driving range and 10,000 square foot practice green is available as a warm-up or practice area.
Soldiers Creek Golf Club is owned by the Norman Woerner family. Norman is a member of the Woerner Turf family of sod producers. Woerner Turf is a world-wide leader in turf production. The company provides turf for many golf courses ranging from Augusta National to new courses in Hong Kong. They also supply the turf for the NFL Super Bowl and the NFL Pro Bowl in Hawaii.
Southern Turf Nurseries provided the Tif Eagle for Soldiers Creek Golf Club. This turf grass is considered by many to be the best-of-the-best turf for southern golf course greens. The fairways and roughs are Tif 419, a dense-growing emerald-colored grass that's perfect for plush fairways. The greens feature Tif Eagle, the newest and best-of-the-best southern turf grass for golf course greens. An increasingly popular choice for new golf courses and redesigns, this turf permits a closer cut, thus allowing for smoother, faster greens.
Located only several miles from Alabama's sun-kissed Gulf Coast, this new 18 hole championship course is part of the Woerner Preserve Resort. Our friendly staff welcomes you to play the newest course on the Gulf Coast. Yes, we are now open. Come spend some time with family or friends. Relax and enjoy a round of golf in this natural setting.

Not worth the money
As we checked in, he asked for our tee time. I told him and said he didn't have us down. I said we went through golf now. He looked it up on the computer and lone and behold it was there. He then charged us more than what we were charged through golf now. What is the point of going through golf now if they don't go by it. VERY DISAPPOINTING! Will not be back.
Pleasant surprise
We enjoyed our round very much. Course lay out was nice, with some challenging holes. Conditions were overall pretty good for the time of year. Staff friendly!
Nice Course, Nice Staff
Decent layout and course conditions were acceptable. Staff is very friendly
Challenging par 4’s for women
Women better come prepared to hit a great second shot to score well on this course. Always enjoyable to golf here
Easy but tight
it’s not a tough course unless you slice then it becomes difficult because the woods are so close to the right rough.
A fine time was had by all
After reading reviews, wasn't sure we wanted to play here. Posts about spotty, bumpy greens were troublesome. But, other courses would not let us book for only 9 holes and the price was more than reasonable, so here we played. Worries were unfounded. Nice course, all but 1 green was smooth and rolled true. Wide fairways for those who can't hit straight. Smallish greens so good short game will suit you well. Appreciate the faster golf cats, get around in a hurry. We are from out of state but would play here again.
Terrible course
I play a lot of golf and I have to say that this course is not worth $53 that I paid. There is clover on the tee boxes in the fairways and around the greens. The fairways have dead spots on them, The greens have crap grass on them, The fairways also have worm holes on them as well. I will not be back.
The course was in overall good condition
After reading reviews about course was a little bit hesitant about playing there but after playing there course was in good condition and played very well. The greens were fine and fairways also would recommend course to others.
Value
We come to Gulf Shores every year for vacation, mostly to golf. This is a nice course with a great layout. Unfortunately, they don't keep the cours as nice as it once was, but it's also more affordable. So, you get what you pay for. We keep coming back to this course because it's more affordable. The course conditions depend on how much rain they get. Sometimes it's too much and it's soaked, other times it's too dry and it has bare spots. This trip, it has been dry, so there were alot of tee boxes that need water. The greens were ok, they have some weeds growing in, but did not impact the putting too much, but were a little slower than I like. Overall, it's a good bang for the buck. But if you want plush, you'll have to pay the $120+ greenfees at another location. If you want to play relaxed golf and not worry about too many people playing slow, this is your place.
I would recommend the place spend some $ and get coolers for the carts, the plastic bags don't keep your drinks cool long in the southern heat. And they won't let you bring your own cooler, even if you put their drinks in it. Buy the coolers, make people give you their driver's license or $20 deposit that's refunded when the cooler is returned.
