About
Situated just below the Flat Tops Wilderness Area in the lower foothills of the Rockies, Lakota Links Golf Club has a scenic, secluded location that is surprisingly accessible to and from all of the ski areas of Copper Mountain, Keystone, Breckenridge, Vail, and Aspen. The location is also equipped with spectacular views from all around the course. Jim Engh designed the golf course, incorporating all of his trademarks including bowled fairways, cavernous bunkers, and receptive but tricky greens. Water hazards also come into play on a few holes. Lakota Links Golf Club's final hole is one of the most demanding. This par-5 has a seemingly split fairway, a ravine, and a large area of rough.

Beautiful Course
It is a beautiful course, well groomed, and friendly staff. Fun course with lots of downhill, uphill lies.
Destination course
Beautiful course with outstanding views. Worth the money and your time. Enjoy the course and have fun. Don’t over think it.

I’ve played many great public courses in the country including Pebble Beach, Torrey Pines, Harbour Town. Lakota is as good as any of them. The views, elevations, undulating greens, and forgiving bowl shape fairways make it as enjoyable to play as any course I’ve been on.
Beautiful Course. Deceptive Difficulty!
My friend and I had played this course some years back and were eager to take it on again. It did not disappoint!
Pros:
Friendly staff - every single member of the staff we encountered were friendly and cordial. To an extreme. We were left with the impression that they enjoyed their jobs and their customers.
Food - delish. Try the tuna salad - nothing short of amazing!
Bar staff - just a pleasure to be around. Funny, knowledgeable about their food and drinks and willing to go the extra distance to make the visit pleasant.
Course views, layout and condition - just amazing. From the first hole driving the ball off of a mountain and into a valley to the par 3 holes that challenge and delight, the greens were nearly perfect and you would be hard pressed to find a bad tee box or fairway.
Carts - powerful and no governor.
Cons:
Hole 18 is just a hard hole.
The rough was long and just ate your balls. I know, my bad shots should not count against the course.
Need more restroom facilities as opposed to porto potties.
Summary:
If in the area this course is a MUST PLAY!!!! From the greeting you will get on arrival to the meal at the end of the round and everything inbetween, this is a VERY special track. And best of all the prices are amazing!
If there were 10 stars I'd give Lakota all 10 and then some. Do yourself a favor and pay this special track a visit. Just be sure to stop during the round a couple of times and look around to truly appreciate the beauty of this amazing golf course.
Beautiful course
Course was in great shape. A couple of greens had small dry patches. Would give 5 stars, had the staff been friendlier at the turn when we went in for drinks and a bite to eat. Oh well, I’ll still come back to play, maybe just caught them on a bad day
Spectacular Canyon Golf
I live in the Midwest as does the group of guys I golf with. But fortunately, one of us has a place in Grand Junction. Lakota, halfway between Denver and Grand Junction, is a treasured golfing destination for us each summer. Most of the tee boxes are carved out of the sides of the canyon walls. Plunging tee shots, spectacular views. It’s a challenging course but the experience of playing it shouldn’t be passed up. The staff has always treated us great and Lakota is the best value we’ve found in the entire area. I’m selfishly hoping that doesn’t change.
Outstanding
This is an absolute amazing track. Difficult at times but playable for anyone. Slot of walking up and down to get to greens and t boxes We will be back if in the area
