Kingussie Golf Club
About
Kingussie Golf Club was established in 1891. In 1908, Kingussie sought the advice of Harry Vardon and extended the course to 18 holes. While some improvements and modifications have been made, the golf course is still very much as it was - Highland golf at its best.
Kingussie offers moderately easy walking on upland terrain, with a few short climbs at the fourth and eighth holes. In general, the fairways are of a generous nature, but the golf course is deceptive and position off the tee is an important consideration.
Kingussie Golf Club's signature hole is No. 4. Although only 475 yards long, the par-5 hole is deceptively difficult. It is the only par-5 hole on the 18-hole course, which measures 5,615 yards from the white tees. Par is 68.

Our return to a Gem of a Golf Course
We had played Kingussie about 10 years ago and had fond memories of it, especially the 2 fantastic par 3's. Our second visit did not disappoint, playing golf in October in Scotland can be a gamble but one we are prepared to take for the magnificent autumn colours. We received a warm welcome and practically had the course to ourselves. Kingussie has a very small clubhouse and at this time of year was not busy, no food on offer but we had drinks in the bar after our round and a couple of purchases in the tiny shop. What a pity the other couple playing behind us didn't do the same, they took the cheap rate and left without even setting foot in the clubhouse.
Excellent Course.
Kingussie is a fabulous course that I would highly recommend. Easily accessible with stunning views of the Cairngorms and a bargain at just £20 a round. The round actually took longer than anticipated as I kept stopping to take in the scenery.
The course was well maintained and a pleasure to play.
All the staff I encountered were incredibly friendly and more than happy to stop for a chat.
The clubhouse was also a pleasure, it was well run and I enjoyed an excellent pint (or three!) sat by the log fire, chatting to the bar/shop manager and some American guests.
Kingussie G.C. was a wonderful experience, and I look forward to visiting again.
Outstanding!!!
What a course....
A must play. It's in outstanding condition and is a beautiful course with amazing scenery
Dreamland
Always wanted to play here… I wasn’t disappointed… friendly welcome on arrival… midweek game so it was millionaire golf inn that we had the course to ourselves… The gods shined on us as we had great wear too, The course was fantastic … beautifully manicured and a credit to the ground staff .
A truly fantastic experience that I’ll never forget
For the love of golf !
Simply defines golf in the home of the game- straight forward course and operation that provides both great conditions and awesome visages in the Scottish Highlands. Highly recommend. If possible, bring your own clubs and walk the course.
Fantastic surprise
First time playing this course and couldn’t fault anything.
Course was really interesting and in great condition.
Played alone and played through 2 groups (both very friendly) with no problems at all
Will definitely be playing here again when next in the area.
Fantastic experience
Great variety of holes in excellent condition. Only qualm - 4 hours for 2 of us. Playing behind a 4. Tremendous views as well.
Fantastic course.
Lovely highland course. Challenging for a relatively short course. Par 3’s make it great fun
Great course
Great course , good value for money , nice variety of holes , despite a week of rain prior to visit course was in superb condition. Well worth a visit.
Fantastic course to play
What's not to like about Kingussie GC. Friendly staff, nice clubhouse, fantastic course in superb surroundings and can be played at a very reasonable rate. At time I played it was very quiet, felt like I had course to myself at stages. Course in great condition, greens mint. A few climbs to negotiate but nothing to strenuous. Just take a moment or two to take in the views though, not played on courses with many better. This is a course I would play every week given the opportunity. Try it you wont be disappointed.
A Highland Belter of a Course
I played here the day after after the club held an open competition. The course was in terrific condition with the fairways lush and soft, and the greens were quite quick and rolling very well.
The course is situated in a truly beautiful location, with the local mountains as the backdrop of several holes.
It's 5500 yds off the whites, but there are some very tight tee shots that gets you thinking about club selection. All of the par 3 greens are either elevated or below the tee, so club selection is important.
Clubhouse is lovely and the staff are very helpful.
A truly fabulous golf course that makes you glad you took up the game.
An all-time favourite course
Really wonderful course.
The setting was stunning, scenic, peaceful and quiet.
The clubhouse was cosy and accommodating.
The staff were exceptional and really go out of their way to personal the experience.
A hidden gem of Old Tom Morris and Harry Varden. Our fourball are absolutely delighted we decided to visit.
For the standard and condition of the course, I would expect to pay double or triple for comparables elsewhere.
Great course
Yet another Old Tom Morris course to be ticked off our list. Some wonderful holes which keep it very interesting. Pity about the rain for the first holes but that did not dampen our spirits. Glad we had a buggy since I would have had to carry and had some steep banks to climb. If you are near go play it its fabulous.
Something special
Lovely course. Very well looked after, beautiful surroundings and a joy to play. Ian made me feel very welcome and gave a detailed description of the course before teeing off. I shall definitely be back, and will also be recommending to others.
Beautiful
This was a lovely course to play and in great condition. Sadly it was raining for the first 6 holes but we still enjoyed it. The green keeper does a great job and the greens were running well and in good condition. Would certainly come back fir a game here. Ic yoj are in the area yoj must play it. Its another Okd Tom Morris course ticked off the list.
