Course over booked.
We booked at La Mirada course. Course seemed to be way over booked. My group didnt tee off till 45mins from our original scheduled tee time. The course also ran out of golf carts, how does that happen! I would not recommend this course to a friend. Front desk seems to be very unorganized.
Poor pace of play
Our tee time was 8:44am, but had to wait until 9:13am.. There were no tournaments and no fog or frost delay.. 30 minute delay is due to poor management.. And it took 5:25 minutes to complete the 18 holes..
Worst rounding ever
We waited carts for about 30 minutes. Course condition was really bad. We had to wait at least 10 minutes at every hole. No ranger pushes game pace and we couldn't finish even we teed-off at 12:15. I would never ever play this course again. This was terrible experience to all of us.
Surprised
I gave an earlier review to this course. I came back after 6 months. I guess today must be still a hot day in LA. So, the golf course was surprisingly open. Because of that, I am able to complete my round in 3 hours as I am able to play through a couple groups. Course conditions deserve a pass. After all, it's tough the last few days when LA is 100+ in the afternoons. Hopefully today is not an aberration on how fast I got through the course.
La Mirada COULD BE better!
I played this course for the first time. Pace was good, and playing conditions based on dryness of weather was good.
My ONLY complaint is clarity of signage and lack of hole charts on the score card. On some holes, unless you have played the course before you could be confused on the layout of the hole(i.e. -dog leg left/right and hazards). Also signage directing you to the next HOLD could be a improved..
Terrible
Greens are the worst I've ever seen for the 25 years I've been playing there
Double booked?...
First time here. Didn't tee off till an hour after scheduled tee time. Pace was almost a 6 hour round. Pretty sure there was some kind of computer data error. Some groups had same tee times. Course had some unique holes. Conditions were playable. Greens were ok.
Too slow
Golf should be able be played in 4 hrs. I got done with the first 3 holes in 1 hour. After taking another 15 min. to get to my tee shot on the 4th hole and seeing the group in front of us had barely reached the green I was fuming. Then I noticed them marking 12 in putts!!! That was it for me. I picked up my ball and left the course for good and won't return until I know the pace is fixed. TOTALLY RIDICULOUS!!!
Poor Communication
The course was aerated just days before our reservation!!! Some of the greens were so loaded with sand that the ball had a rooster-tail during the putt. We played two putt max, but some information would have been better than getting a surprise on the greens.
I understand that courses need to be cared for , but everyone knows when these schedules are made. Is it too much to ask to put something online and communicate?
Other courses had notices about aeration online and were offering discounts due to the conditions. We still might have played there but at least would have had a choice. Definitely not worth FULL PRICE GREENS FEES!
Did not report that they were aerating their greens
The other courses had a warning sign on the App indicating that they were aerating. However, this course did not. My fault for not checking the course but they should have reported to Golfnow they were aerating the greens like the other courses.
To improve play
To improve play they need to cut the ruff shorter to enable you to find your ball faster and get on with play . Then inforce the par three wave on rule you posted (marshal job) . Then have those players that think their long ball hitters (and their not) hit from the white tees not the blues thinking that there pros around their wifes that hit a whopper...100 yds
Great round
Had a great round played with 3 great guys! Layout is cool!
delays, delays, delays
I played this golf course two previous times before this time. Knowing from my previous experiences, I decided to book my tee time early. Yet, I had to wait 20-30 minutes after my scheduled tee time to play the course. The course is awesome. However, it's not a good idea to keep golfers waiting. 30-45 minutes wait is too long.
A fair experience
This was my sixth time playing here, and the first time on a week day. Five-somes should not be allowed. This time the pace of play, slow, and front golfers slow, back golfers hitting up on us, probably because of slow play and blind holes. Had to wait for cart to be brought up to us to start play. No Starter, and the Ambassadors were not evident. Also, the "19th Hole" is not very satisfying. Not enough staff to cover the food and bar concessions. Minimum 5 minute wait to get anyone to tend to the bar patronage. On this visit, we gave up after an 8 minute wait to be served. I heard a comment from the food section that "there is more business out here". In a word --- Disappointing.
Good Considering Heat
Good conditions - some fairways getting burned by summer heat.
Very slow on weekends
Our tee time was delayed an hour and it took 5 hours to finish only 14 holes. Course was good, but the slow play didn't make the experience worth it. Although, all the golf shoes were 50% off that day. Good deal.
The Course is being renovated
It's good to see the course is undergoing renovations, I wonder how it will look/play when it's done. First of all, the greens were solid, Fairway was decent towards bad with a good amount of dirt patches. Some of the bunkers have been updated with new sand and some were wet hard packed sand/dirt. It's not a complete dog track but I don't think I'll be going back, especially because I don't live near by. I guess if I lived really close I would play it on the rare occasion. 5.5 hour round after a being sent out 30 minutes late at (7:40 tee time). A big back up at that hour is kinda weak. The tee boxes are some of the worst I've ever seen, ripped up dirt or crab grass...you'll see;) I do wish this course the best of luck with their changes, you can see they are really trying.
