Despite being flooded the day before the course was in good shape. Overall it’s an elegant course.
Good time
Tee boxes, fairways and greens all we’re in great shape! Will be back when in town to visit my son!
Charged twice
I booked through Golfnow…was charged twice, once on golf now and again at the course. Can’t get help from course or golf now app.
Had to call a Senator within the neighborhood to rectify a problem
In the years I've been playing here, I've never had to go to an extreme to handle a problem in my favorite form of fun until today. After unknowingly crushing a 315 yard drive on the 5th hole, one of the players there (who also happens to be an employee there) threatened me, and I was left with the untimely decision to gather the counsel of a nearby Senator's office to make a complaint. The employee intentionally played slow to make matters worse. If this is how you pick your lackeys off the street, then your course needs to be shut down.
To be honest, I'm looking to either file charges or for his immediate termination.

Pleasantly Surprised
I hadn't played Vanny in a couple of years and my last memories were of poor conditions and a dreadfully slow pace of play. What a surprise today. Teed off at 10:20 and was done at 2:30. Not too shabby. Greens are in immaculate condition . . . better than the Westchester County courses I usually play.. Bumkers are a total mess and need a lot of work, along with many sections of cart path. Tee boxes also need work. That said, if you aren't hung up on using a hand wedge to find a good spot of grass from which to hit or tossing your bunker ball back out onto the fairways, Vanny is worth a look just for the amazing greens.
Van Cortlandt
Except for a few lousy tee boxes, the course was in great shape. There were very minor puddles despite heavy rain earlier in the day ( which kept the number of golfers down!)
