After half the groups had teed off and there was still 4 or 5 in front of us. And we were on time. Photo submitted by null on 09/25/2014
Well maintained.
Probably the best kept course of all the NYC courses. Pleasure to play.
Great value
Course is great for being in NYC. There is no yardage markers on the course other than the tee boxes. Also the tee boxes were in rough condition. Other than that, I highly recommend playing there and will do it again!
Worst customer service ever!
Spanish guy in the pro shop with Glasses is the worst. Guy is always in a bad mood and always gives us attitude. Whatever happened to customer service? The course was in great shape, but he just made it a bad exprience. Would not recommend this course to anyone until that guy is GONE.
Joe who wears glasses in the pro shop is the worst!!
There was a guy in the por shop I think was named Joe. It's the guy with the bad attitude who where's galsses. He usually works later in the day.
This guy always has thw worst attitude, and is always sleeping when we come up.
To be honest, it came to a point where I was thinking about just leaving when I see him there because everyone without fail, when we come to the window, he gives us the worst customer service.
It's never, "how can I help you," Instead it's always, "what do you need?"
I hope Van Cortland sees this andneithednretrainsnhimnor moves him to where he doesn't need to interact with paying customers.
Everyone someone suggests Van Cortlandt, I always oppose it because I don't want to run into that guy.
Would have given them 5 stars had it not been for that guy.
That said, the rangers at Van Cortlandt are very nice and courteous, especially the Asian ranger. That guy always stops and says hello, and if it's slow, always apologizes for the pace, and actually try and speed things up. All the rangers are pretty much like that except for this one ranger who always has a dog with him. That guy drives around the course and gives everyone a hard time, whether it's warranted or not.
Please speak to both people and tell them to relax, retrain them, or move them to somewhere they don't have interactions with people.
Worst customer service!!!
The only reason why they're getting 1 star from me is because the guy in the Pro Shop with the glasses, who's usually there later in the day, is always so rude. I honestly think he shouldn't be working in a place where he has to have interactions with people.I'm not sure but I think I heard some call him Joe.
I come to the course to enjoy myself and have a good time I go to check in, he's always on the other side in the desk sleeping. When I knock on the window, the guy give you the a stare of death, like I had NO business waking him up to get checked in.
Not one time did he ever say, "may I help you." Evwrytime without fail, he would say, "what do you need?"
Unfortunately, I live in Manhattan so this is the only course accessible to me, so I have to deal with the guy, but I hope management sees this and please put him through training or move him elsewhere.
It's come to the point, where I call the course to see if he picks the phone up, before I head up there. (I know it's him because he's the only monotone voiced guy there that doesn't sound like he'd rather be anywhere else other than here.
Please do something about this guy Joe with the Glasses. Either retrain him or move him where he doesn't have to interact with people.
Great course, needs a little update
Great course, always love playing here but price is a little steep for what it is. They charge you $20 per person (not per cart ) for riding, which is ridiculous considering that one person can rent a cart for $20 but they expect you to fork over another $20 just for someone to sit next to you. Like I said fun course, but cmon, course cost us $38 per person at 3:00 pm and they wanted $40 for one cart .
Tee Boxes Are A Hot Mess
Love the course, its history, and its convenient proximity to Manhattan. On a good day, if you keep the ball in play, it's a really fun course. Especially that heart attack hill ending. But until they can fix their tee boxes, I might lay off. Played this in November and was teeing off dirt boxes with tee locations being marked by tree branches stuck in the ground. Thought that they would have improved these by now. But nope, tee boxes are exactly the same. Not a tee marker to be found. Rarely were we driving off flat boxes with grass. Sand traps were a nightmare to get out of because of the rocks and hard conditions. And I always walk, but carted it yesterday to try and beat the sun, and man, some of these cart paths require seatbelts for those bumps. Hope we can chalk this up to a 2020 pandemic hangover and early season woes; fingers crossed that maintenance improves as we get deeper into the season.
Solid NYC Course
Need to have tee markers in place. Couldn’t tell where I was supposed to tee off from. Starters need to enforce pace of play more. Overall, fun course. Some challenging holes !
