I had a car accident and I did not get to play I tried to call and use the app but it would not allow me to cancel
So so
People tell me how great the greens are, I have never been lucky enough to see them. Lots of patchy area all over the course too. I only play here for a friend's outing, no need to drive here from Nassau, much better options on the Island.
Brooklyn Golf
Marine Park, is a wide open bay side “links” , the management at the course has done a superb job gradually upgrading practice facilities and the shape of the course.
The wind is the biggest factor protecting the course as there are few trees and it’s a wide open nature, and subtle green side elevation lulls you in , as the greens speed up through May-Oct apin positions mean being below the hole is of paramount importance.
Holes 1, 3, 4 , 8 (signature hole) 9 and 11, 12, 14, 15, 16 and 18 are all excellent tests
Only complaint is that 3 of the par 3’s 8, 13 and 17 set up at a similar distance and this could easily be remedied by moving the tees more frequently , and updating marker posts or yardage markets on the course in 25 yard increments from 150 in.
MP is not really a course for beginners, it’s length and wind conditions mean that it draws golfers who are more practiced., beginners will find it a tough track.
Holy wind!
Huge wind gusts the entire front 9- made it impossible to play with yardages drastically affected and balls blown side to side like plastic bags in the wind. Back 9 was better wind-wise. Greens and fairways were just aerated on April 1st and 2nd too. Would recommend avoiding here for a while until the conditions are better. Not sure if the wind will ever really improve however. Driving range (irons only) a rare sight for NYC courses. Old raggedy turf mats however.
Don’t have expectations
So it’s a NYC course... those that play around here know what that means. I’m writing this review cause I see this course rated as 4 stars which Iran not.
2 stars (fair)
Greens are the best part on this course. It’s got a decent length so that’s good but no character. Fairways and not cared for and off fairway are uneven rough with holes and some mound that look like construction site or dumping ground. Sorry but it’s a course you play when you bored at range.
Best course to play in city would be
La Tourette in Staten Island I think
Ferry point is not affordable
Getting better
I have to say, this course is getting better. The greens could use bit more speed, but overall I can notice the improvement on fairways and tee boxes.
I saw a ranger twice which was nice to see as well.
I think once they get the pace of play better, the course could have a much better experience for golfers.
You need to tee off before 9 am. Period.
Great course, fair layout that’s a challenge for players of all skill levels. Best greens of any NYC course (including the mini-golf gimmicks at Ferry Point). But there are no rangers to promote pace of play, several holes will take you 45 minutes each with all the waiting around. Teeing off after 9am pretty much guarantees a 6-7 hour round.
Long course big fairways fast greens and deep rough
4 1/2 hour round if you like hitting the ball long this is the place to play
At a snail's pace
Considering all the rain we've had this season, this course was in very good condition. Despite the signs declaring a 4.5 hour pace of play, and a raft of marshalls on the course, we played in just under 6 hours!!! That's 20 minutes a hole. We were in position the entire time. Ouch!!!
Pleasantly Surprised
I wasn't sure what to expect of this course, but ended up being pleasantly surprised how nice the conditions were for a public course in Brooklyn. The course seems to be going through quite a bit of renovations, so a lot of areas were roped off and torn up, but other than that, the place was in great condition. Pin placements and greens were challenging, but not ridiculous.
Not too shabby
Decent course that I have played over the years. In good shape for end of season. Greens were nice and so were fairways. Looking forward to playing again.
Quality professionals and Superb Staff
very slow and getting slower.the pace of play was horrible after 9 holes 2 left at 14 We left 3 people in front were two holes behind
Great Links Style Course with Awesome Views
Wide open fairways, large greens, and forgiving rough. The wind can get pretty strong and effect club selection
Enjoyed my round
Played a round today and enjoyed myself. Check in went seamlessly. All the staff were very attentive and pleasant. The golfers we ran into on the course were very nice. All in All, we had a great time.
