WHERE ARE THE RANGERS??
As always, the course looks amazing. Greens are running nice and quick. Amazing job greens crew.
Again as always, the pace of play is garbage, and the staff does nothing about it. Get off your large butts and tell these hacks who limp around the course guzzling beers to pick up their pace.
If I was the owner of this course I’d completely re-staff the proshop.
Best course in 5 boroughs
It’s the best ran facility around. It has a range and practice facility.
Marine Park
Very unusual pace of play very FAST, because it was cold, wet damp but not rainy and winds about 15-40 miles Great day. Under 4 hours.
5 hours round
It was a beautiful 70 degree day . Everybody had the same idea and come out and golf . The course was in great condition. The problem was five hours and 20 minutes round .
Fine, has gotten better
Theyve done some renovation work on it the past few years that has made it better. It's still the best affordable public course within driving distance for most people that live in Brooklyn or manhattan.
Marine Park
Course layout is great....greens are still aerated but should be rolling great in a few weeks....my favorite track in the NYC area.
I had a car accident and I did not get to play I tried to call and use the app but it would not allow me to cancel
So so
People tell me how great the greens are, I have never been lucky enough to see them. Lots of patchy area all over the course too. I only play here for a friend's outing, no need to drive here from Nassau, much better options on the Island.
Brooklyn Golf
Marine Park, is a wide open bay side “links” , the management at the course has done a superb job gradually upgrading practice facilities and the shape of the course.
The wind is the biggest factor protecting the course as there are few trees and it’s a wide open nature, and subtle green side elevation lulls you in , as the greens speed up through May-Oct apin positions mean being below the hole is of paramount importance.
Holes 1, 3, 4 , 8 (signature hole) 9 and 11, 12, 14, 15, 16 and 18 are all excellent tests
Only complaint is that 3 of the par 3’s 8, 13 and 17 set up at a similar distance and this could easily be remedied by moving the tees more frequently , and updating marker posts or yardage markets on the course in 25 yard increments from 150 in.
MP is not really a course for beginners, it’s length and wind conditions mean that it draws golfers who are more practiced., beginners will find it a tough track.
Holy wind!
Huge wind gusts the entire front 9- made it impossible to play with yardages drastically affected and balls blown side to side like plastic bags in the wind. Back 9 was better wind-wise. Greens and fairways were just aerated on April 1st and 2nd too. Would recommend avoiding here for a while until the conditions are better. Not sure if the wind will ever really improve however. Driving range (irons only) a rare sight for NYC courses. Old raggedy turf mats however.
Don’t have expectations
So it’s a NYC course... those that play around here know what that means. I’m writing this review cause I see this course rated as 4 stars which Iran not.
2 stars (fair)
Greens are the best part on this course. It’s got a decent length so that’s good but no character. Fairways and not cared for and off fairway are uneven rough with holes and some mound that look like construction site or dumping ground. Sorry but it’s a course you play when you bored at range.
Best course to play in city would be
La Tourette in Staten Island I think
Ferry point is not affordable
Getting better
I have to say, this course is getting better. The greens could use bit more speed, but overall I can notice the improvement on fairways and tee boxes.
I saw a ranger twice which was nice to see as well.
I think once they get the pace of play better, the course could have a much better experience for golfers.
