Marine Park Golf Course

I wasn't sure what to expect of this course, but ended up being pleasantly surprised how nice the conditions were for a public course in Brooklyn. The course seems to be going through quite a bit of renovations, so a lot of areas were roped off and torn up, but other than that, the place was in great condition. Pin placements and greens were challenging, but not ridiculous.

Decent course that I have played over the years. In good shape for end of season. Greens were nice and so were fairways. Looking forward to playing again.

Wide open fairways, large greens, and forgiving rough. The wind can get pretty strong and effect club selection

Played a round today and enjoyed myself. Check in went seamlessly. All the staff were very attentive and pleasant. The golfers we ran into on the course were very nice. All in All, we had a great time.

I love this course. Greens are in good shape and roll fast. Moderately long from the tips and a fun layout. Nice bar also.

That said, the staff are by far the worst part about this course. The starter in particular needs an attitude adjustment. There’s no reason a grown man should act the way I’ve seen him act on several occasions. Do us all a favor pal and quit if you don’t want to be there.

Pace of play is sloooooooow. Again, if the staff did their jobs pace would be better but I guess they’ve got other things to do. I saw a ranger but he wasn’t doing squat.

The superintendent is going a great job with the course. The recent upgrades look great.

The clubhouse staff could take some cues from the course maintenance staff for sure.

I was pleasantly surprised with the improvements, and upgrades, disappointed that it was recently aerated, but that was nothing major. The new sand bunkers, the berms, fairways, all add to the beauty of the course. Hard to believe we were in an urban environment.

Granted it was 4th of July, but not having rangers was really bad. 5.5 hrs of round is exactly the reason why many average golfers like me don't want to golf. With that being said, the course improved from last time in terms of conditions. Greens were better, and I noticed improvements on bunkers and fairways. But still needs work, and hopefully this comments would get them to start focusing more on golfer experience. Only NYC muni over 7k yards, so for first timers, might be worth the experience.

Played the course recently in great conditions. Greens rolled perfectly and fair. Were receptive after the previous nights rain. The waste bunker between 3 and 4 is a great addition adds a nice touch to the front nine. Fairways and tee boxes were also in great shape. The fescue has taken awile to grow and is slowly adding a challenge to the open layout. Some of the mounds need more fescue to be planted as they is still toi much dirt and stone which makes the fesue too easy out of which to olay. Some of the fesue does not punish fairway misses. Otherwise this course is becoming a local public favorite paricularky for the price and amenities. What other public course do you know specifically has a chipping and bunker practice area? Great job on the upgrades to this city course.

They did their best to send us out quick and keep us moving along. It was a 6 hour round (10 minutes was a rain stoppage). The course itself is in need of a drainage system in several spots. The greens were fast, but mostly fair, considering the Sunday pin placements.

I have a bone to pick with public courses costing 70, 80 dollars to ride. That said, Marine Park is a true "clubhouse", nice dining facilities, both inside with a real short order cook doing work, and outside with a grill. The best thing about MP is the practice facility: driving range (no woods), large chipping and putting greens. And then there is the music!. The starter, generally an ornery cuss, plays some of the best American Classical music one has a right to expect at a public golf course.

Staff was very rude. They wanted to kick us off after the first hole, claiming we were taking too long, however we were still waiting for the group in front of us. Man named Ted “head ranger” was following us through out the whole course, after every hole he would say keep it going, was very unsettled . Felt rushed and could not play well. Would not play there again! From reading the other reviews they seem to do this a lot.
