The Dunes At Maui Lani Golf Course

The fairways and greens were in excellent condition. My major gripe about this course, and it is a MAJOR gripe is the condition of the bunkers/"sand" traps. I use quotation marks because, ironically for a course with "Dunes" in its name, it's a misnomer to call them "sand traps" because, for the most part, they are sandLESS!!

The bunkers had NOT been worked by the grounds crew; there was hard pan, numerous rocks, some standing water, as well as mud.Trust me, cuz I was in far too many bunkers!! And, PLEASE, don't get me started on the high ledges/lips on greenside bunkers. . . .

My recommendation to play the course is based on staying out of bunkers and playing early in the morning before the wind gets too strong. Oh, and, get a GolfNow "Hot Deal" instead of paying the rack rate.

Nice layout, nice condition. Suffers from lack of facilities. No cart person, no restaurant or lounge. Bring your own drinks

This was a fun course to play but the greens are much slower than any of the other courses I played in the island they need to move them a little shorter other than that the wind plays a huge part of your game here Had a good time although the pace was way slow.

We got to play with some locals so the course knowledge was helpful. The wind was a major factor and the greens were slow and very unpredictable. This was not worth the money even on Maui.

The course is in great shape. Fairways and greens are well maintained. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. We play here every time we are in Maui. You won’t be disappointed.

The whole course was great up until the 18th green when the ash field next to the course was blown into the 18th green and clubhouse making it difficult to breath/see. Other than that, the course was terrific

Staff was friendly, we expected to have lunch and a beer afterwards…surprised the restaurant was closed…no beer cart ; (

Course in good condition. Would have liked to know greens punched and sanded recently. Greens inconsistent.

This is a really fun course! Elevation changes keep things interesting with high tees and high greens. The course was in pretty good shape. The staff is so friendly and helpful, you can't help but start with a good attitude. Will def put this one as a regular stop whenever we're lucky enough to be in Maui.

Don't come to this course expecting Kapalua or Wailea. I rented clubs and with the rental and round it came in under $100. That is better than I can get at home. It was hot and windy but played fair and the greens were good. Don't agree with the other reviewers saying the greens were not good. Staff were very nice and the clubs were in good condition. I teed off 45 mins early by myself and played the first 12 holes in 1hr 15mins. The next 6 holes took over 2 hours but I still finished under 4. Only saw the cart girl twice which was fine and no alcohol as their restaurant is still closed. In my mind it was worth the money and I will definitely play it again if I come back to Maui.

I called to see if the greens had been recently aerated. Pro shop said about two weeks ago; but healing and playable. They weren’t, and with pace of play was. excruciatingly slow, I quit after 13 holes and almost 4 hours. The course has lost any luster it once had.
