Washington County Golf Course
About
Located just northwest of downtown Milwaukee, Washington County Golf Club (formerly known as Family Park Golf Course) feels much further thanks to its seclusion in the beautiful Kettle Moraine area. Arthur Hills designed the course, which is ranked second in the nation among municipal golf course in Golf Digest. The layout sprawls across wide-open, gently rolling terrain. The subtle contours of the landscape provide a few difficult lies and they can also make the greens hard to read but overall it is a course that most players can approach with confidence. Thanks to a versatile layout it appeals to a wide range of skill levels and it is an ideal spot for tournaments and events. Over the years Washington County Golf Club has hosted several championships including the U.S. Open Qualifying Round and the Wisconsin PGA Championship.

Great course
This course is a great municipal owned track. A little light on staff (no starter, no ranger). Course is in great shape. True greens, penal fescue, long enough. Will be back.
Great course
The twilight rate is a great value. The course is in great condition. Greens are fast and true. Only negative is the number of ball marks left by idiots who don't know what repair tool is, or who are to rude to care
Top notch county course
Course was in very nice shape. Greens were consistent and true. Can play tough when the wind picks up, as there are not many trees.
Tremendous value
This course has hands down been one of my favorite courses for years. Fair, yet challenging regardless your handicap. The value is incredible
Doing it right
Read some of the other reviews after playing: I'd characterize the sub-par reviews as amateurish & easily worth discounting. Bottom line is this a great place to golf. Conditions were near perfect for this time of year, and paying the twilight rate meant I got some great golf on the cheap. It was CRAZY windy & I was following a USGA qualifying event that morning, so I saw a course that had some nasty pin placements & some spots of rough that ate a few golf balls. Zero complaint from this guy. I'd never played an Arthur Hill course before, so I lack some reference, but enjoyed what I saw. Lot of doglegs, offering some risk/reward fun; there were a couple bunkers to either "go over" or "aim at" to help on tee shots. Greens were very consistent, fairways, tee boxes too. Not a lot of trees at all, and the bunkers were in great shape. I'd characterize most fairways as generous, more premium on approach shots. (With the wind & course set up, I will admit to not paying too much attention to course architecture. It was all this clown could do to make good contact.) This track is just a short hop from Erin Hills, so I'd say if you're visiting, fig it out & play here that week. The folks of Washington County have a top-notch golf facility to play: you should check it out.
Love the course
You can see the whole course all over the place very open fun course
Definitely not 4 1/2 stars, but a nice muni
The 4 1/2 star rating is way overdone, but Washington County was a very good municipal course. Would give it a 3 1/2 star rating if I could. Course was in really nice shape in the summer. It's a decent enough challenge, but I wouldn't say there's anything overly special about the layout. The prices on GolfNow during the summer have been way over what I would spend there. It feels right in the $30-35 range. Washington County doesn't have a ton of good golf, but this course is a good option out there.
very good course, well disigned.
would recommend you play this course.
Tall grass & rolling hills
Course was in great condition, greens rolled
true. Great links course. Was quite windy that day making shots into the wind challenging.
Seems like most of shots on Par 3s were into the wind which was interesting.
The sandwiches and drinks very good.
Inviting.
Course is challenging but is not intimidating. The rough was very thick and made locating your ball a bit of a choir with all the recent rains but that is the penalty for not hitting it in the fairway. Nice course in great shape.
One of my favorites
I always enjoy playing this course. Unfortunately it's not very conveniently located but it's worth the drive once or twice a season. I enjoy the layout and conditions are typically very good for a County course.
Great Course
Course was is great shape. My wife and I enjoyed the round. She played red and I played. Challenging layout without being brutal. .
First great weather round of 2016
The course was in great condition, but it was slow because of all the first timers of the year.
