Washington County Golf Course

About
Located just northwest of downtown Milwaukee, Washington County Golf Club (formerly known as Family Park Golf Course) feels much further thanks to its seclusion in the beautiful Kettle Moraine area. Arthur Hills designed the course, which is ranked second in the nation among municipal golf course in Golf Digest. The layout sprawls across wide-open, gently rolling terrain. The subtle contours of the landscape provide a few difficult lies and they can also make the greens hard to read but overall it is a course that most players can approach with confidence. Thanks to a versatile layout it appeals to a wide range of skill levels and it is an ideal spot for tournaments and events. Over the years Washington County Golf Club has hosted several championships including the U.S. Open Qualifying Round and the Wisconsin PGA Championship.

2025 Women’s U.S. Open trip
The course is amazing. Prepare for wind. Best if you play with a local golfer. But if you can’t, look down the fairway and believe there’s some fairway slope. Play more slope than you think. On greens, the breaks are easily overread.
Always a good time.
Tenth time to WCGC and I always have a good experience. Some tough holes along with great conditions.
Can I give it 6 stars?
Beautiful and well maintained worth the drive of 45 minutes.
Great day
Course was in great shape and the pace of play was perfect.
Not Up to Usual Standard - Not worth 90$
Today was not nearly as impressive as far as course condition compared to previous times I've been here. Carts are really nice and new and updated, Clubhouse is great. Tee boxes are solid. Greens were ok but some were much slower and damaged and not as nice as they have been in the past. This would be okay but I've also noticed they've increased the prices recently To 90$. This course is nice but $90 is wild to me. I think if you can get on for $50-70 its a wonderful course.
Eh
Ended up walking because it rained a lot and was cart path only, wish I could get refund for the difference
Great course, early season conditions a bit week
I do enjoy the course, however, conditions were not great, especially in terms of the greens, which were quite chewed up. I’m inclined to cut some slack given that it’s only mid May.
Preparing for US Women’s Open
Walked the course and carried my bag. Always windy. It appears to be very similar to Erin Hills where 2025 US Women’s Open is being held in two weeks. The greens are speedy but true. Don’t overplay the breaks. Local knowledge is beneficial. Was fortunate to golf with two locals who shared their experiences. Reported to be number one municipal course in Wisconsin. Can’t deny that it’s challenging but also an enjoyable experience!
Beautiful challenge
Love hilly rolling interesting courses and that's what this is. Recommended by many friends over the years but never got there till now. Visually tricky to judge first time playing (where to aim with your driver). Will play here again! Highly recommend but don't go and make it too popular.
Worth the drive
Drove up from the south and took about an hour. Well worth the drive. I will definitely be coming back.
beautiful but windy spring day
course was in beautiful condition and was running fast and firm on this windy spring day. greens were very fast and it made the day!
A near perfect nationally renowned municipal track you can’t miss out on.
WCGC is not only one of the best public courses in the state of WI, it’s one of the best in the country. For the value, I’d put this course up there against the links course at Lawsonia. Just an absolute gem that I have to play 5-6x a year.
FAST greens but they’re true for the most part. I love how you can have a ball striking clinic yet still score high on some holes because of how tough the greens are. It makes the challenge that much more fun, and those 5-7 footers even more important!
The grounds-crew needs to be nationally recognized because every aspect is perfect - from the tee boxes to the sand traps, you can tell they care about quality.
I can’t recommend this course enough.
Awesome course
The course was in very good condition and the greens were definitely rolling true. Just an overall fun course!
Washington County
A great Arthur Hills design that offers one of the best values in golf. The course also offers a 3 hole practice course along with a good range, great chipping area and separate putting green.
Washington Co. Gem
Great course at a reasonable price. The course is always in great shape. Challenging, but fair. I golf all over the area and this course is the best by far for the cost.
Good course
Good course. Great scenery to golf in. Place of play was sooo slow. Partly because a college(?) tournament was finishing up on the Saturday I played. I’d like to go back when it’s not as slow
