Fab round of golf with friends

Shiskine is a wee gem. Granted we had a beautiful sunny day, but the views and scenery are magnificent. Some of the holes are quirky, others are just breathtaking, but overall the 12 hole course has challenges for all standards of golfer. We will be back.

Beautiful course - well manacured. Stunning location. Friendly pro shop. My round finished at 15.25

Don’t understand why catering finishes at 15.30 when apart from me there were many players out on the course yet to finish.

The best course I've played

Having read about it, seen the YouTube videos and seen it in the top 100 most dramatic courses in the world, I just had to play it. It did not disappoint. From the first drive to the last putt I smiled, gazed in awe and kept stopping to soak up the views. Blind shots, elevation changes, long par 5s and quirky par 3s, this course has it all .

High handicappers needn't be intimidated and low handicappers can revel in the challenge. It's a true leveller and a joy to play.

Admittedly the weather was superb but being a member of a links course the wind wouldn't have stopped me anyway.

Come to Arran, play this course! It's frikken unbelievable.

Tricky but lovely

Nice course, 12 holes are plenty and all differentely challenging. Hitting straight more important than distance and a good roll even when damp. Great views and nice clubhouse. Not to be missed if golfing on Arran

Great fun and great location

Since reading about this course in the Tom Coyne book, we have been looking forward to play this course. He made it sound amazing, and he did not oversell it. Clubhouse is small (basically a pro shop), but the tennis clubhouse on top of the hill has more amenities. It's only a 12-hole course, even though GolfNow lists it as 18 holes, but it is 12 great holes with a wide variety in design, The tee boxes are not significantly different in distance, but there is a difference in par based on the tee color you choose. Make sure to get a good understanding of the layout to understand where to go, as there are more than a few blind shots, even on a couple of Par 3s. Fairways and tee boxes were fine, but the greens were a bit slow and bumpy, however they did roll pretty true. You can score well, but there is enough trouble that it is easy to have a blowup hole. Pay attention to the bells and signals for the blind shots holes, too. Expect to walk it, which is not too challenging with a trolley, but buggies are limited. If you aren't too distracted by the great views and fun layout, you will enjoy the round here.

Interesting and fun to play.

Great course. Interesting and fun to play. It was in good condition, staff were very friendly and welcoming. Only small criticism would be that a few more signs directing to the next tees would be helpful. Due to the layout I got confused a couple of times trying to follow the small map on the score card.

A very interesting course

I have played this course before and paid £35 for it. It’s only a 12 hole course, meaning it seems quite expensive compared to other local courses. It’s a very interesting course, with a number of scenic and blind shots. The third hole was closed, which was the iconic crows nest hole, which obviously made it 11 holes. No mention of money back or playing an extra hole. I was one of four people on the course, so it shouldn’t have been a problem playing an extra hole

Worth playing but be mindful it’s on 12 holes

Shiskine am

Course was in good company condition for November, maybe a reminder for folks to repair pitch marks would benefit the greens; I was endeavouring to repair 3 to 4 on each green and that doesn’t take long tbf👍

Indian summer

I was welcomed at reception by a delightful young man who gave me all the details required about the course which is a quaint 12 hole course with some stunning holes and views ,not the most challenging course but definitely worth a visit as are all the courses on Arran ,as every time we visit it seems to be lovely weather and always fantastic views

Stunning twelve holes

Do not miss the chance to play this course if you’re on the island.

Each hole presents its own challenges, whether it’s a long par 3 links on the coast or a deceptive par 5 which will have you guessing about going for the green or laying up.

The setting is stunning being set on the coast with fantastic views over to Kintyre and its coastline.

Being sandy the ball runs well and the greens are well kept. Fairways are firm and the rough can be punishing so keep it straight.

A thoroughly enjoyable course which you should not miss the chance to play.

Interesting Layout

Booked on Golfnow as 18 holes of golf but the course has only 12 holes and you can only play 12 or pay again to play another 12.

On arrival we were advised by the pro that there was “some maintenance “ going on on the course. On arrival at the first green we discovered that the greens had been hollow timed that morning and by the time we got to the 2nd green we had to wait to play our approach shots as the tractor dumped a full load of sand over the green.the theme for the remainder of the round was the tractor got there before us with the sand. Only after we played our final hole did the greenkeeping staff arrive to brush it in.

Interesting layout , beautiful views from course but round spoiled by course maintenance.
