Great public course in Wisconsin
Had a blast playing golf in the Northwoods last week. This course has continued to be in great shape the last few years as it comes up on our rotation. We are a passionate bunch and our group agrees that in can match up with a lot of other top public courses in the state. Ranger “Kraig” was a hoot and rooting us on each time he passed by. He filled us in on all the course updates. They have a cool Char-broil style grill out front with a couple retro card tables where it looks like you can grill your own food. This is where other places need to take note. Hit it straight out there, trees are looking to gobble any stray shot.
Great challenging course
Always fun to play and in great shape, and unfortunately we were behind a foursome where 2 people didn't know how to play golf
We love this place
It is tight golf, we’ll just get that out of the way to start. The fairways are very well defined and a tight hitting surface. It is dry up there right now but not as bad as down state. Good roll was happening with the right trajectory. Bunkers are very good for a public setting. A couple new green alterations are seen on the front 9 and spice things up a bit. The place was jam packed but play moves along. Overall it is one of our favorites and will be back up in September.
Wonderfully challenging
It was a great new course I travel a lot and like to play new courses. So this one was very cheap. And was great. But one thing I hated what the bugs. I’ve golfed at least 25 different course and for some reason the horseflies and dragon flies were alll over me. I use bug spray. But other than that if you play blue tees. Make sure you drive straight every time. Otherwise you will lose a ball. The blue Reese are kinda crowded vegetation wise
First time back in a while
I had a couple weeks off and spent the extended holiday time in the Northwoods golfing. What a fine selection of venues to choose from. This is a great area for golf. St. Germain remains one of the best I believe. My pal scored a good deal online and we had a great day. Hard to believe this is operated by a township. The course is kept in excellent condition. Very well groomed and we joined in with an older couple who played here quite often. We remarked on the changes and improvements to the course and they said every year new investments have been made. A lot of us remember the days of the winter kill. It appears that has been taken care of they mentioned. Happy to see a muni going the extra mile out there to help their tourism venue. Try this place out, it is a good value.
Up North Classic Feel
Beautiful course with great conditions. Nice challenge but not too difficult for intermediate golfers. Would be nice to have a full service restaurant open during the day . The snack shack was good but had a very limited selection with no place to sit down after our nine.
Vicious deer flies everywhere
The course and staff are outstanding! But even constantly using bug repellent with 25% deet, the deer flies were so thick it was hard to golf. I ended with 10 bites and finally just wanted the round over. BUT the course was spectacular i will be going back!
We play here often
This is a really nice course. We play it often.
Today we had a problem with a foursome ahead of ours who did not know proper golf etiquette and were backing up our foursome and the one behind. They did not have the sense or the courtesy to let us play through after 4 holes of waiting. We notified the ranger and he took care of the situation.. Like the quiet electric carts.
This course still remains one of the nicest courses in Northern Wisconsin. Beautiful wooded area, super friendly staff and good running golf cart equipment. I play in Jacksonville, Florida regularly and can pick up a round of 18 holes of golf with cart for $28 -30 a round at most courses. Other than what I think is an inflated price which obviously the market bears, I rate it well
Very inconvenient by not allowing carts out to vehicles to load and unload. The barricade in the middle of the sidewalks are not easily seen and a hazard. Upon check-in, had to make another trip back to car to retrieve the confirmation # from an email. Luckily I brought my phone! Felt very uncomfortable as staff paced back and forth staring at us unloading our clubs and watching every step we made. We are semi-retired well respected adults 62-63 years old! Then they added a staff member to join us golf in our threesome. Good courses would "Never" allow Staff members to golf with guests! Add having a court Marshall checking on us made the entire golfing experience very uncomfortable!! We have golfed some of the best courses in the country and never had an experience like this.
