Welcome back
It had been close to 15 years since I had played the course. It was everything I remembered it was. The thing that impressed me the most was the condition of the greens. It as like the course was closed for a month. The greens were impeccable!
Beauty in the north
The course is beautifully maintained and has gorgeous tree lined holes. Especially awesome with the fall colors. The staff was helpful and attentive. Only downside to our day was a storm cut it short and we couldn’t finish the two final holes.
Most complete course around
Our buddy found a late morning fire sale deal on the course website. Awesome practice areas they have groomed for you, conditions that actually mimic the actual course. The pitch and chip spot over near the halfway house is well away from everyone if you need some solitude to work on your game. Food and beers in the stop at the turn are just what you need, not overdone, just essentials (KISS, keep it simple stupid). Course itself is always in great shape. Bring plenty of balls as others have mentioned. A well struck tee ball on many holes WILL catch overgrowth. Greenskeeping staff was busy building a new green on the first hole and punching some holes on tees. This place keeps getting better. Beautiful fall colors, enjoy while we still can!
Brian's Review
Reserved tee time at 8:34 am. Teed off on time. Pace was slow due to golfers ahead of us not practicing good golf etiquette. Foursome behind us were really pushing us, hitting into us. One of them was a club member. At the turn, a foursome came in in front of us, further slowing play. No rangers on the course to resolve issue.. Finished 18 holes in 4.75 hours. Not bad, considering the poor golf manners. The course was in excellent shape, very challenging and scenic.
After golf amenities were non existent, restaurant bar did not open until 4, pm., but this was expected due to pandemic. Overall, this time I give a rating of 8 out of 10, 10 being the highest, mainly due to no ranger on course monitoring pace. I will definitely play it again in the future.
Delightful
I always make sure to come out to St. Germain in September. Fall colors are starting up as we speak. Course plays awesome with great upkeep and conditions to look forward to. Trees do seem to be taking over some holes. Take your medicine while teeing off on these, marginal room for error. Our group has agreed this place has blossomed into a fine conditioned track to get out on in all of Wisconsin. Well done!
I love this course. I think it's very pricey, so I love that I can get a deal through tee off.com. The weather was horrible, but the people we got paired up with made it seem bearable.
9-1-20
Used Golf Now to save $12/person. That was important because $71 is steep. We all loved it!
Public golf with country club conditions
Our group has played here now once a month since they opened and each time out the course is better with some sort of project improvement happening. Staff remembered us which was cool and they are doing a great job with the COVID stuff. Trees certainly do limit you from the blues and some whites as others have mentioned. A Stihl or Husqvarna could fix that. Fun layout, better conditioning. Course is a great value for what you get out there and how the ball reacts on all surfaces. Bunkers are usually an afterthought at these township courses, but not here. Good sand, very few if any stones and well defined edging. Do yourself a favor and get on up to this place while the weather still allows. Hope to join as a member one day!
Tough but beautiful
Love this course. Narrow fairways, rolling, undulating greens. Well maintained. Will be back
One of my favorites
I play St Germain public course every year upon my venture to the great north woods. It’s one of my favorite courses anywhere and is in outstanding condition. Most of the fairways are tight and plenty of thinking and ‘playing smart’ from the tees will definitely aid in keeping the numbers down. If you have a chance, play the course, you won’t be disappointed!
a beautiful course
ST Germain was in great condition - greens, fairways and tees. Nice sand in the traps, which fortunately I only visited once. They don't have hard liquor in the snack shack or on the beverage cart.
