Grey Hawk Golf Club

About
Grey Hawk Golf Club is a challenging but playable course that is a Cleveland area favorite. It brings resort-quality golf to a remote location in LaGrange that is seemingly in the middle of nowhere. The rolling landscape is the ideal terrain for links-style golf. The course demands accuracy with lightning fast greens surrounded by bunkers and be sure not to stray from the fairways or you'll almost definitely be left with an uneven lie. Unlike a typical links golf course, there are water hazards coming into play on several holes on this layout. The 11th hole features a tricky island green while the third hole has an equally challenging "island green" that is surrounded by sand. Grey Hawk Golf Club is a formidable but fair test with interesting and diverse hole designs.

This course is closed for the year.
I want my money back. This course is closed. I drove 45 miles to go play there this morning and it’s closed for the season til April. Yet y’all are scheduling tee times and taking peoples money to do so. I want my money refunded and a credit for the 90 miles I had to drive because of golfnow false advertising
Good course if you have 5 hours.
The course is challenging but a fair test of golf for low—to mid-handicap golfers. My only complaint is the pace of play. It will take you the better part of five hours to play a round of golf. That may be due to how popular the course is, the lack of Rangers speeding up play, or your typical golfer waiting to hit a par five in two from 250 yards 😂. If you have the time, it is one of the best courses in Northeast Ohio.
Great country club style public course
Course was in great shape and the greens were good like they always are. It is a little tough to read slopes due to lighter and darker shades of grass but were rolling around a 10 even after a bunch of rain a couple days before my round. I would definitely recommend this course to someone who hasn’t played it before.
Good course if you have 5 hours to play.
It is an excellent course with a challenging layout and good course conditions. My only issue is the pace of play. It will take you the better part of 5 hours to play eighteen. I guess that is a compliment to the course and conditions.
Excellent round with members
Had the opportunity to play grey hawk again and was paired with members of the course, they were super friendly and helpful on shot placements at the course, the course was in excellent shape, for November! I always enjoy my rounds at grey hawk!
Fairways & greens
Great long course with faster than normal greens for a public course. Fairways have grass….thought I was at a country club….
Ride-a-long is wrong
The three golfers that were to join me thought it would be a good idea to bring a non player rather than share a cart with a stranger. Not cool. A ride a long is for muni courses or off times. Not peak time on a championship course.
Didn’t get to play
I woke up sick for a prepaid teetime but I was told there was nothing that could be done resulting in me paying for a round I never played…
Grey Hawk is in Horrible Condition all Summer. Don’t waste your time and money there.
The fairways were in horrific condition. Uncut, torn up, drainage catastrophes, etc. Did the superintendent leave? It was the 4th time that I have played it in the last couple of months. It has progressively gotten worse each time. It was in the worst shape that I have ever played what is supposed to be a pretty good course. I will not be back without some free round to make up for what the conditions were yesterday and this year.
I would recommend going elsewhere.
Challenging course, with excellent greens
Greyhawk is a gem of a course. Challenging greens and excellent bunker placement. The par 5s are a gamble especially over water... The course has just enough trouble in the right places. Par 5s play with risk reward but when wind blows watch out for tricky pins. Definitely have to bring your A game for par 3s and some tight 4s. Greens and tees are immaculate, but the fairways were dry due to draught and heat in August.
Excellent Greens
If you like greens that are fast and true, this course is for you. The fairways are generally excellent, too, as are the tee boxes. The rest of the course is a little rough around the edges. The bottom line is this course is a solid play with one major caveat. Bring your range-finder as there are very limited yardage markers.
