This course has great greens.
I played this course 2/times this week both days were very windy. Without a doubt the major feature of this course is the greens, which are in great conditions and extremely fast.
Two puts are the norm and if you get aggressive three puts can happen very quickly.
The only knock against the course is conditions of tee blocks which have a lot of bare spots. I am assuming the time of the year could be a major factor.
All in all it was a couple of very enjoyable days.
Unbearably slow
People giving lessons on the course, no ranger despite people calling pro shop for one, $30 evening rate fair value for course conditions, just dont expect to finish. Used to be one of my favorite courses, it has gone downhill enough to not return for a while
Pace and conditions
Course used to be great, but lately the pace of play, price, and conditions have been suffering. 5 hr round in the middle of the week. Called the pro shop and was told they would send a ranger to speed up groups infront of us but never saw it happen. Course itself looked better right after the hurricanes than it does now. Sad to see because staff is friendly and layout is great but we won’t be back due to conditions and pace of play. Go to the river club or rosedale for around the same price with much better conditions and pace of play.
Good Muni
Manatee is a nice Muni course, that gets lots of play. Pace was good on this day, sometimes slower than preferred.
Nice round
My wife and I have played here before when we stay on Anna Maria. Great course for us to play. The staff is fantastic and the course was good. Some tees a little rough but it is a nice place to get a round in. Thanks
Washrooms/driving range closed
The course itself is nice enough but loads of dry spots and soaking wet ones elsewhere. I needed my waterproof shoes. It was not busy so pace of playing was great but it took a long time in the Pro Shop to get any attention and finally receive our cart chit. That was the only staff we interacted with, except for the cart Marshall who said we could tee off immediately, after being held up in the Pro Shop because a client had been double-charged. It was a very unusual start to a golf day for us.
Not in great shape and sewage small was bad
Two main comments - the course was not in very good shape - tee boxes were rough, greens were so-so, fairways were just OK.
The smell from the sewage treatment plant next door was BAD this day. I understand it is not the fault of the course, but players should be aware.
