About
River Run Golf Links is a municipal course owned by the city of Bradenton. Unlike many others in the area, golfers won't have to worry about hitting homes on this non-residential course. The layout is player friendly enough for all skill levels to enjoy but it's also a fair test that is anything but boring. The two nines are referred to as the River Nine, the front, and the Pirate nine. The golf course is mostly straightforward and a pleasure to walk, although there are carts available. Ancient oak trees draped with Spanish moss provide shade and scenery throughout the course. Water has a prominent presence, coming into play on almost every hole. Some of the holes are tight and can be quite challenging but beginners can still approach River Run Golf Links with confidence.

The course was terribly dried out but, in their defense, we are in a drought in this area. Pace of play was slow, and I did not see a ranger. The course is very reasonably priced for this area at this time of year which you would think is a good thing, but it gets heavy play which makes getting t times difficult and also results in slow play, I have seen significant landscaping improvements on the course in the last three years so the new management team is doing a great job there. I like the course. I like the price. I don't like the slow play, and the course needs significant irrigation upgrades.
River Run Golf
Seems like every course has raised their rates significantly. The increases are not justified because the conditions on most of the courses are bad. River Run is in pretty good shape and still a good value in the area. I'll golf here at least once a week while here.
Favorite Course
This is one of my favorite courses well worth my 40 minute drive from St Pete to play there. Always greeted by friendly staff, the course is well maintained.
Solid Option
If you like the Pirates, their facility is right next door. Makes for a friendly atmosphere. The course is in excellent shape. Very narrow, you’ve been warned. Overall, a very fun play with great views throughout. Highly recommend.
Great day at River Run
Had a really nice day at River Run. The course is in nice shape. I teed off at 9:22 and the pace of play was flowing, the greens were fast and the staff was very accommodating. My only gripe was that the bunkers weren’t that good. I still enjoyed a fabulous day on the course.
