Early morning
I played early in the morning 06:40 - I played solo and two groups let me through which was great. Finished 18 holes by 09:15. Course was in good shape, considering all the rain that has fallen recently. A few of the holes were cart path only - but that was to be expected.
Lots of ground staff busily mowing & blowing but not really impacting on play.
Great layout - will be back!
Overall a really good day out. Course condition after extended rain period is improving and recovering well. Greens in first class condition. The only detractor for the day was slow play.... use a course Marshall would improve this aspect.
Course should have been closed
I booked online because the course was listed as open. It should have been closed. The course was completely water logged and unplayable. Vast swathes of fairways were under water, some cart paths were so flooded I had to drive on to the edges of tbe course to get around them. I gave up after 7 holes. Completely ridiculous to be open. The club should have declined my booking when I got there and both the club snd GolfNow should not have listed it as open or playable in the first place. GolfNow can "pass the buck" unto the club all it wants, but they also own some responsibilty to ensure reliability for the product they are selling. That was $80 wasted. Won't be booking the Glades again anytime soon nor using this website.
Course Unplayable
The course was virtually under water as relief from casual water on most fairways was almost impossible to find within a reasonable distance. The course should have been closed and patrons allowed either a refund or the opportunity to rebook when the course became playable again.
No course marshal and slow play
We(group of 2) had a group of 5 people and 3 buggies in front of us. Didn’t let us through, took us 2:15min to play the first 9, dropped the biggie back and went home. Waste of money and time.
Best course I've played in a long time. Challenging yet rewards good shots, I've just got to hit good shots :-)
I enjoyed my day dispite the mixed results
Great Greg Norman course
It is an excellent course. Great lay out in typical Greg Norman style, elevated greens, deep bunkers, long course. Very enjoyable and well maintained, although the 6th hole had temporary green. But didn't spoil the hole. Highly recommended when someone wants to play on the Gold Coast.
Great course, Greens staff need etiquette training
Arrived at pro shop to a friendly welcome from pro shop staff, teed off on time and it was apparent that the greens staff had been busy cleaning up after the floods. After waiting for a few minutes for the greens staff to move off the first green I continued my round and was then followed by a surrounds mower every hole until the 18 th. Never stopped while I was putting it even acknowledge me the whole time as he was too busy with his AirPods in listening to something while mowing. On my approach to 18 green I heard him say “ hurry up mate” to me which I heard from 160 mtrs away. This ruined my round which I paid top dollar for and have never come across such rude, uneducated greens staff in my whole 30 years of golfing around the country! As a former golf course employee I understand that the greens staff do a unappreciated job most of the time but this is no excuse for the attitude I received on my round today. Don’t know if I will be back again which is a shame as it’s such a great course but not paying $90 to be told to hurry up and have a mower buzzing around me all round.
An afternoon of fluctuating fortunes
The Glades is time honoured as being a great course. Clearly the whole of course flooding event, which occurred a little under two weeks ago, impacted the conditions. Still damp in many places but recovery well under way. The bunkers were ground-under-repair (GUR) and had suffered from major water inundation. The course played more challenging than four weeks ago, as a result. Although the poorer play I displayed was partly from allowing the course conditions to have more impact. Very busy day too from the number of players (all four-balls) in the field. Bunched up near the finishing two holes. All in all a great course and looking forward to going up against a great course in the coming weeks/months.
