Ron Jaworski's RiverWinds Golf & Tennis Club
About
Ron Jaworski’s Riverwinds Golf & Tennis Club is situated along a scenic stretch of grassland between the banks of the Woodbury Creek and the deep harbor marina on the Delaware River. Its location gives it the feel of traditional seaside links courses found in Scotland and Ireland, which is further enforced by the sod-wall bunkers that lurk near the greens. The layout features plenty of water and incorporates the surrounding wetlands as well. One unique feature of the golf course is that the routing winds across a mile-long twisting burn, creating a visually interesting setting. Riverwinds begins with a gentle, mostly flat front nine but the mounding becomes more aggressive as you move onto the back. All of the holes face a different direction, which means you’ll most likely be using all the clubs in your bag to tackle the crosswinds and rugged terrain.

One that Jawarski HASNT killied...
This is a great track and the conditions are way above average.Usually a winy course, but has some really cool views. You will want to come back again.
Love this course
Every time I come here I'm ready to plan my next round to come back.
Nice course,fun to play.
Great golf course. Good condition and greens were nice to putt on. Sometimes you get distracted with planes taking off every minute but it also entertains you because the course backs up sometimes..
very surprising how nice it played
Played on an extremely hot day, staff kept coolers full and offered us the leftover ice! Very impressed and the course played really nice. Would play again when the odds of heat stroke are lower!
Nice layout. No rangers to move slow players
Challenging course. There is a need to move slower players along.
Like a potentially great step kid, just needs more attention.
Best public links course within 20 miles of Philadelphia. Interesting layout, lots a elevation changes, large playable fairways and greens. My only real issues lie with the lack of supervision for the droves of hackers that swarm this course like unsupervised step-children. There are more un repaired ball marks, foot print size divots then I've seen on any course this year. I understand the rain was heavy, but I also has to watch as a three group back-up was happen stance because 2 knuckle heads where hitting 3-4 miss-guided missles off every tee a few grouos ahead. I'm all for public golf, but Jaws could afford another $8 hour to keep a better eye on this otherwise great course and deal opposite the delaware of Philadelphia.
One of SJ's best
Always a favorite to play. Course is well maintained now that Jaworski has taken over. Course has dealt with this years crazy weather well, greens and fairways are in good shape, no big dead areas like a lot if the other area courses. Rough is exactly that, you don't want to be in it. Not extremely high but very thick.
A good test of your skills
Despite the 100 degree temps it was a nice day of golf. Got toasted by the the sun and the course on the back 9
A great course that is fun to play.
This was our first time to Riverwinds and it was a great course to play. You got what you saw. There were no big suprises and the greens were in very good shape, maybe a little slow but
that made it fun. The pace of play...we played on a Thursday, was excellent. We never had to wait and no one was pushing us. A great golf experience so close to a major metro area.
Every year the course is in better shape.
Great course, very convenient, the pace of play is the only downer.
River Winds with the wife
Course was in great shape. Would not play it without Golfnow, overpriced regular rates
Fun course to play - nice finishing holes along the Delaware River.
Riverwinds is a fun course to play, fair with some challenging holes. Greens were a bit slow, likely due to the heavy rains in June, which also resulted in thick rough. The restaurant/bar is must visit after the round.
Very challening, interesting layout
This course has a lot of different kinds of holes, and the statement that you'll use every club in your bag is definitely accurate. Wide fairways and big greens make the course accessible, but the punishment for a mis-hit ball is severe.
The course does not drain well though, and the wide fairways make playing the course during "cart path only" a burden, so my recommendation would be to play when you know the weather has been nice for the past few days.
There were a LOT of ball marks on the greens, which is a shame for a course otherwise so well maintained.
Despite vast areas of empty space all around, there is no driving range. So make sure you hit some balls before you get there, or else that first drive can be intimidating with no warm up.
Well Kept
The course was in great shape and we had a phenomenal day for golf. However, the thing that always bothers me is that there is no area for food on the turn. I teed off at 7:21am and didn't see a cart girl until the 14th hole,
emergency prevented play
unfortunately I did not get to play as I had to attend to a patient who went into labor. It makes me gun shy about using golfnow in the future as I lost money by paying in advance and could not play.
Course looks great, very slow pace.
I really enjoyed my round the course was in very good shape and it's a challenging yet fun course to play. It offers a nice variety of holes which is great. The pace of play was terrible though. The course was over-booked and we waited to tee off for nearly a half an hour on the 5th hole. The round took nearly 6 hours to play which is way too long but it was a Saturday afternoon and I didn't have anywher to go so it was alright.
Good Value
Course is well priced for what you get. Pace of play wasn't great but cart path only rules were definitely a large factor. Course is well maintained given the price. Greens and fairways are well groomed but some bunkers and areas of the rough need attention.
Don't believe the course distances on the scorecard. Definitely plays about 300-500 yards shorter than advertised. Course is wide open but the rough can be punishing depending on when you play.
I'd definitely go back.
very enjoyable course
Quite enjoyable course. Varying terrain from hole to hole maintains interest throughout. Very scenic surroundings. My second time here this season and I'm sure I'll be back in June. Only shortfall is lack of amenities once on course. I only spotted one port a potty for 18 holes with no access back to clubhouse. Cart girl came around often enough but was dissapointed grill at 9 was not open. Would have been nice to know in advance. These are minor when compared to enjoyment of course especially 17 semi island par 3 and the super elevated par 18 which this double bogey golfer cannot resist teeing off from the blacks.
Great veiws of Philadelphia sky line, wide green fairways
Top course in Philly area. A must play. Beautiful golf couse.
Great value with "golf now" Hot Deal
Course has wide fairways but heavy rough
conditions were superior
fast & smooth greens
nice challenge at 6576 yds from white tees
