Nice little course, definitely worth the bang for your buck
This course sucks do not go here
Worst golf course I’ve ever been too staff couldn’t be more rude pace of play sucks and the course was just in terrible conditions
Needs a bit of tidy-up on a few holes
Apparently the grounds on a couple of fairways are still saturated from previous rainfalls. If it wasn’t for this situation, remaining fairways are excellent. Would also be great if rangers could expedite slow pace of play. This will not discourage me from playing this course. Kudos to staff for being friendly
PRIMARILY COURSE ONLY- BASICALLY EXCELLENT NEEDING A FEW TOUCHES
I find the course and its conditions interesting.
I've played here for about five years and a couple of years ago they renovated it and changed some of the course.
When it's windy, as you would figure, it's tougher, and today the wind was really up a lot more on the back nine.
Since the renovation I will share my feelings up to the present, as a very particular person who in my younger days was a 5 handicap.
The tees could use some leveling and more grass.
Sand could be a little fluffier.
Around the green could need more grass.
Where there's a little water, they could eliminate some of the shrubbery to make it more attractive.
Yes, it can get muddy and depending on their resources could use a better drainage system.
Greens are excellent and extremely tough which makes this course so challenging and if freshly cut extremely fast.
If I was the super, and really wanted to make this course super, being picky that's what I would do.
Here's my overall honest review.
Course is especially really good for your short game.
If the pins are front to middle, you don't want to be behind the hole as most of the greens lean toward the front, and better to be short of greens than over as well. On left or right of greens not being in sand can make for a challenging pitch or chip shot.
Features:
I would say half the time first 8 holes are against or crosswind.
Hole 2- Welcome to the British Open 2 pins the other being #16. Uphill
Hole 5- When pin is behind trap difficult to get close.
Hole 6 Hill leading to water on the left so better to aim for right side of green. Ball can hit left fairway and still find the water.
Hole 8- This is one hole where if the pin is up the hill in the back, the longer your putt is from the bottom the much harder it is, and this is longest hole on the course.
Hole 9- Others might not agree, but for a very short hole with this new green I find challenging getting close to the hole no matter where it is. You can have a difficult long putt if you are very short or way past. No sand here.
The back nine is interesting with 3 short holes sandwiched between 3 holes before and 3 finishing holes that can be more difficult and lengthier.
Today that back nine was the biggest cold wind I've ever played in here, either against you or crosswind/against.
Hole 12- Water to the left and putts more difficult if pin is in the back. Big tree on right if hit can go anywhere usually in a bad spot. Today was a miracle. Ball hit branches and went to the left onto the green. Of course, I 3 putted.
Hole 13- First of 3 straight short holes. Hard shot to get close if pin is over the trap.
Hole 14- 2nd of the 2 holes without sand. Chances are you will have a diabolical putt here unless you have a medium size putt up to the pin.
Hole 15- Shortest hole on the course.
Hole 16- Not overly long but uphill with trap guarding left side and on or off the green to the right you can very easily have a diabolical pitch chip or putt.
Hole 17- Toughest hole on the course and toughest green to hit of all. Traps left and right with green tilting right to left. If you hit middle of green, you probably will end off or on fringe. Better to hit short and run up.
If you are in the back but way off to the left being on and pin is back right another diabolical putt. Lake not in play but can cause blowing wind.
Hole 18 Last of the 3 finishing holes I call the diabolical 3 because of the greens. Water on right can cause wind and is in play. Slightly uphill with trap in the front middle. I f you're in back and pin is towards front because of a hill another diabolical putt that demands touch.
They say that review is for the course only, but they ask you to rate the staff and other things so here goes.
Staff- I've had problems with the staff and other golfers over the years, so I can understand why some people are rating them badly. Unfortunately, a few good ones have left, and they have trouble holding onto the directors they hire, now going on their 4th in about 3 years
Amenities: Driving range is just a net. Chipping area no holes. Putting green good. Drinking water on course. After holes 5, 8, and 12.
Pace of play- Never a problem for me as I being a single let everyone go thru because I'm a very slow player who enjoys playing but also wants to score.
Amazing how many skip the hole when I tell them I'm letting them thru.
They have no ranger and staff after 3:P. M., and you can't play after 5: 30 P. M. which I don't like, but I have to say there's some that play which I've seen, who abuse the privilege and abuse the course. They hit 2 balls on every shot, drive carts on the fairways and close to the greens when it's wet and its cart path only, don't know enough to fix ball marks, and in one instance I actually saw someone put their walking cart on the 18th green and when finished pull it across the entire green to the back and then off.
Needs TLC
Have always found this course to be in great shape, however, due to poor weather conditions, found couple of areas on 2 fairways in soggy conditions. Ground crew trying to overcome situation. Disappointed with poor pace of play on this day, very slow group of players on every hole. Wish ranger could have been on site to keep t,Hingis moving. Despite these concerns, will definitely be back. Staff very pleasant
TLC
Have played and enjoyed this course numerous times and have always found it to be in fantastic shape. Was surprised to find a few holes to be water logged due to very wet conditions. I’m sure the ground crew doing their utmost to correct this situation as they always have done an outstanding job. Wish there had been a ranger on site to expedite groups of very slow players. Needed to wait long periods on every hole, keeping all golfers frustrated. 4 groups of players gave up playing that were behind us. Hoping to have better luck next time
Worst unfriendly and the most rude staff out of any place I’ve golfed.
99% of the time the staff is absolutely horrendous, as if they’re upset that you want to play golf on their course(s). Unfortunately I live so close, I keep going back for punishment. Try calling to book a tee time…might as well call the DMV or the IRS for friendlier service. Once you can get past the villains you can actually enjoy golf, unless they were so rude that you can’t shake it and your game collapses which has happened to me a couple of different times. I could write a small novel about the experiences I’ve had at both courses, I even talked to the manager about one the events and she says “the next time you come through I’ll make it right”, unfortunately she’s never there and has never returned any of my multiple calls. Overall the courses are decent and the carts are nice but I’m really not sure if it’s even worth it anymore. Their only saving happens to be the cart staff, always friendly and helpful. Play at your own risk.
Nice par 3
Well maintained par 3 course with challenging greens that aren’t boring. I’ll definitely be back.
First Par 3
Was in excellent condition. Played 18 holes in about 90 minutes. Great time and will be back again.
