Neshanic Valley Golf Course - Lake/Ridge Course
About
Neshanic Valley Golf Course is a 27-hole layout that sprawls across 420 acres of rolling farmland. It is the flagship course of the five-course Somerset County Park Commission system. The design team of Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry crafted the layout, which is divided into three nines called the Lake, Ridge, and Meadow. The nines can be played in different 18-hole combinations. The Lake/Ridge Course, as the name would imply, starts out with a few water holes. In addition to the lakes on the front nine, environmentally sensitive wetland areas come into play throughout. The fairways and greens are bordered by ample fescue and the putting surfaces are closely guarded by strategically placed bunkers. Neshanic Valley also offers a nine-hole, par-32 Academy Course, which is great for beginners.

Aeration special
Pro shop short staffed, seemed a bit disorganized. Wind was howling. Greens still coming back from aeration. Fairways good, tee boxes good, sand traps good.
Restaurant staff friendly but chicken sandwich while tasty was super messy, bacon limp and took a while.
Homemade chips nice!
This course is maintained well
One of my favorites to play. They have 3 9's so the pace is always nice. Well groomed and if you take a second to look around its a beautiful course. I highly recommend it
Fantastic
Course was in terrific condition. Pace could have been better, but a wonderful day on a beautiful golf course. Will play again for sure.
Love this place!
One of my favorites along side Bally Owen but is half the price and half the distance and just as good! Always in great condition and having 27 holes really allows them to control the pace of play, along side having Marshall’s that actually do something!
Go here Once a Year
Always try to get here at least once a year, always in great shape, though there seemed to be a lot of ball marks to fix.
Somerset County has a set great courses to choose from.
Great Experience
Partner and I came on a rainy day. The course drains really well. We played Ridge/Meadow.. meadow is definitely the easier of the 9. But both in great shape and require challenging shots
Nice but…
I haven’t played Neshanic Valley GC in about five years . I remember it to be well kept and lush. This August day the greens were a little beat up and very dry. Same could be said for the rough and fairways , which I would describe as crispy.
Pace of play was not good. We waited on every hole, but we were a threesome, but still we waited probably 5 minutes at every shot.
It took us 4 1/2 hours to finish.
I would play again for comparison.
Great County Golf Facility
I say facility because they have it all for golf. 27 holes all in great condition. A 18 hole academy course and 6 acre practice and learning center. Clubhouse with bar restaurant and wedding venue. This is truly a nice place to play and visit. I wish I lived closer, would play this course on a regular basis, Beautiful location in the hills of Somerset county with beautiful scenery from the tee boxes and the clubhouse. I recommend you visit and play this course if you get the opportunity.
Great public course
Fantastic course - greens were a little beat up, that’s why 4 stars.
Love the track
Use to live in county and Neshanic was then and still is a great place to play. I live close to crystal springs courses and play there as well, but for the value and course layout, Neshanic is still close to my heart. Take my 16 yo to play as often as I can. Course conditions never disappoint. There was only one compliant, after starting and finishing the Ridge, we pulled up to play Meadow only to find it backed up x4 foursomes, mixed with both new starting times and guys coming from the front nine.Starter messed something up, being there was nobody on Lake. It took some convincing before he let us go to Lake, where there was nobody for the fist two holes, and nobody after us for seven holes. If they get the starter on track, things would be smoother.
Great course, great conditions except golfers need to fix their ball marks and fix them correctly, and learn how to walk without dragging their feet on the greens
