Neshanic Valley Golf Course - Lake/Ridge Course
About
Neshanic Valley Golf Course is a 27-hole layout that sprawls across 420 acres of rolling farmland. It is the flagship course of the five-course Somerset County Park Commission system. The design team of Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry crafted the layout, which is divided into three nines called the Lake, Ridge, and Meadow. The nines can be played in different 18-hole combinations. The Lake/Ridge Course, as the name would imply, starts out with a few water holes. In addition to the lakes on the front nine, environmentally sensitive wetland areas come into play throughout. The fairways and greens are bordered by ample fescue and the putting surfaces are closely guarded by strategically placed bunkers. Neshanic Valley also offers a nine-hole, par-32 Academy Course, which is great for beginners.

Love this course!
I am not a somerset county resident but i don’t mind doing the 45 minute drive to golf Neshanic. Conditions are always top notch even after rain. Nothing bad to say about this course.
Neshanic is a beautiful course, it’s a challenging course, and always in great condition, it’s one of my favorite golf courses, the people that work
There are very nice and friendly
Excellent Conditions
One of my favorite courses in Central Jersey.
This year, the course is in great condition with smooth fairways and rolling greens.
And the rough along with the wispy grass on missed tee shots adds a nice challenge.
Warning on my playing partners
I've been playing golf for 50 years (started at 12 yrs.)
Never have I been paired with a more strange and potentially dangerous twosome.
After skipping a hole to "play though" a slower 4 some, our threesome caught up with the group ahead of them after a hole or two. These people wanted to play "speed golf". They originally wanted to jump 9's and play the Lake course, were assigned the Ridge and Meadow 9's.
I talked them out of this idea stating that the started would have figured us into our next nine (Ridge) and that we would mess up his system.
One we caught the group ahead the Woman and her Son started hitting as many as 5 balls and chasing them all over the place. I just played my game and would frequently be on the green waiting for them to play whatever ball was currently in play.
The most dangerous part of this twosome would happen when the woman would "reload" a ball and hit a second ball without announcing it. This almost got me hit when the woman hit her second shot into the lake on our finishing hole and as I prepared to hit my shot, I heard "fore" and her unannounced ball drop and shot missed me by few feet off her 3 wood.
I looked for the Starter to warn him as well, but our round concluded later in the afternoon and he was gone.
Once a Year
I try to play Neshanic at least once a year, well worth the 1+ hour drive. We had a perfect day and the course was in very good shape. Somerset County residents have a great set of golf courses.
Excellent shape
Played ridge/meadow and it was in great shape. Pace of play was great 3 hours and forty minutes
This is a very good course...
The course was in excellent condition and the greens were very good as well. The pace of play was also very good for a Friday. There is alot of high grass and fescue so if you miss the green or miss the fairway you will lose some balls. Also, I felt it was a little pricey. Overall a a great day of golf, worth a try.
Want to play here every week
Great course. Every single time I played, condition is great, course is pretty, and challenges my game.
Rainy day so green was not as fast as last time but still rolls pure and punishes misshots.
Great conditions
Beautiful, 3 9 hole course. Conditions were great, the course was manicured perfectly.
Must play
Always in great condition one of my favorite courses
Disappointed
Been playing here for years. This season things have gone downhill. The staff is rude and unaccomodating. It always was to a degree. Is it too much to expect a clean cart without someone’s used mask and leftover m&ms these days?? How about a scorecard? On a $70 weekday round?? Get it together guys!
Course is ok shape. Great layout and an enjoyable round if you can get passed the lack of service and if you get service don’t expect it with a smile!
