Neshanic Valley Golf Course - Lake/Ridge Course
About
Neshanic Valley Golf Course is a 27-hole layout that sprawls across 420 acres of rolling farmland. It is the flagship course of the five-course Somerset County Park Commission system. The design team of Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry crafted the layout, which is divided into three nines called the Lake, Ridge, and Meadow. The nines can be played in different 18-hole combinations. The Lake/Ridge Course, as the name would imply, starts out with a few water holes. In addition to the lakes on the front nine, environmentally sensitive wetland areas come into play throughout. The fairways and greens are bordered by ample fescue and the putting surfaces are closely guarded by strategically placed bunkers. Neshanic Valley also offers a nine-hole, par-32 Academy Course, which is great for beginners.

A pleasure!
Great course. Drove 1:45 to play this for first time and was not disappointed! Conditions were ideal and lush. Tees fairways and greens were in excellent condition. (People still need lesson on fixing ball marks) smooth rolls and tricky greens. Well worth the ride and will do it again soon!
The golfers should treat these beautiful courses better
We played the Ridge course and, for the first time, the Lake course. Both were maintained to the highest standards. All the courses, but especially the Ridge, have beautiful views of the valley and mountains.
However, the golfers who play these beautiful course could use a few lessons in fixing ball marks on the greens and replacing divots. You remember the old saw about repairing your ball mark and one other, well on some holes yesterday I fixed mine and 5 others.
Keep your ball out of the fescue.
The pace was also poor. 2:40 to play the Ridge. The round was 5:00-5:10.
To sum it up, these are excellent golf courses well worth playing.
Beautiful course
Cannot say enough how beautiful the course is and how well it is laid out. Looking forward to playing again soon. I have a few concerns regarding the pace of play on the front nine and the players behind us not offering the courtesy of some privacy on the tee box.
challenging but not to difficult , but you need to stay in the fairways
Great layout.
Neshanic is always in great shape and the layout is terrific.
0-9 handicapper will be challenged from the tips.
Greens are in great shape right now.
The ball rolls smoothly but they aren't overly quick.
Bunkers are very firm, but well maintained.
The only negative? No drinking water on the course
A great challenge !!
A beautiful 27 hole complex with friendly staff.
Course is in excellent condition with true roll greens providing a nice challenge.
The jewel
Simply the fantastic and beautiful golf course. But staff at the desk have some attitude problem, something very similar to government office workers. After all, it is a county course. Other than that, it’s a gem.
Great Course Play When You Can
Definitely recommend this course. It's a little expensive this time of year but a very well kept course. No complaints at all. Play it if you can.
Great course
One of the best courses in the area. Only criticism is that the rough was thick and deep and easy to lose golf balls only a few feet off fairways.
But overall one of the best courses
Great layout and the condition of the course was very good.
There was no one on the course, but they would not let us go out early. The staff or maybe the policy is “ Golf Now “ must go out at the tee time. Not friendly towards Golf Niw players.
Played after a lot of rain
Visited for North Carolina and when in the area I try to play this course. There had been a lot of rain in the last few weeks and days but the course was in great shape. However you did not want to be in the rough because it was not cut. The greens were very smooth a bit slower than usual but expected. Pace of play was slow due to playing partners looking for balls and all the other groups. Highly recommended this course
Nice course
If you're not a resident of Somerset county it is very costly to play this course. GolfNow offers an attractive alternative to rack rate. I hadn't played here for over 7 years and glad I returned. Over all conditions were very good. I don't know if they are planning on holding a US Open qualifier here, but from the depth and thickness of the rough, I'd guess so. This detracts from the playability of the course. Greens were running at a descent speed and besides the ever present unrepaired ball marks, were in good shape. It was a hot day, close to 90, when I played. Why they elected not to put out drinking water is beyond me.
Great layout... but...
Course was great and I'll go back
BUT
Greens were rolling true but a little slow. It was hot so I get it.
Bunkers inconsistent and generally not raked so I was in footprints twice in three times. The third was hard as a cart path
We finished in 4 hours at about 7:15 and wanted to go have a beer but they close the bar at 5
Sun goes down at 8:30 and they close at 5?
ryang yoon
great course, great staffs. want to play the lake course next time.
Very nice county course
Great condition and nice location...... I hear that it's losing money and it's easy to see why. I wouldn't want to have a private club nearby and try to compete against an operation like this. Great for the golfers, bad for the non golfing taxpayer. The range looked very nice as well. Didn't eat in the lounge which was small. Very nice venue.

Sane rhing when I was there. Its like they were doing you the favor of paying almost $100 for a round.
